Jared, visited your website. Saw the video about your beautiful mother. I watched, listened carefully and cried. Your mom is shining down on you with a smile. She is very proud of you!!!!!!
I hated you after 10 seconds - but kept on watching - and now after 58 minutes and 51 seconds I love you. Great work mate! I just started watching a second time.
Thanks, Jared. I'm an experienced Nikon shooter, but you've filled me in on things I've missed since picking one of these up. It just goes to reinforce that you should always read the manual and see tutorials for every new camera in case there are differences between the new models and the old one. Diving in and playing with the menus can be a good start, but it only gets you so far.
Thank you so much man! I am absolutely new in the photography and I bought D3200, made some photos and was literally in tears over my ignorance of using a camera. Thank you so much for this free, yet so valuable education!
I just bought my D3200 about a week ago and I love this camera! Thanks so much for such a thorough intro to the camera's functions. This taught me far more than the owner's guide. Great "how to!"
Bought a Nikon D3200 with the intention of starting taking photos, but didn't know anything about the settings and what the buttons meant. I do know, so thanks, and that earned you my subscription.
I've owned three cameras. One was a Yashica made in the 1970's, the second one was a Sears K1000 which was basically a newer version of that Yashica with the Sears brand stamped on it. My next camera was this one, the Nikon D3200. This was like upgrading from a rowboat to the star ship Enterprise. I've had it for two years and I'm still trying to figure out some things. The auto focus was hard to get used to. My favorite part is the 25 megapixels and I'm pretty happy with the kit lenses that some people have criticized. Last week I took a photograph of a postage stamp and printed it out poster size with little loss of image. This morning I photographed a roseate spoonbill mid flight and it came out so clear. Not only is the entire bird in the frame but I was able to crop down to the eyeball and have if fill an 8 x 10. My father had an old 35mm slr from the 1940's. His mother had an old Kodak camera she got in 1910 and her great grandfather built his camera from scratch after Daguerre taught him how in France. I have all of them. I have taken photos with all and seeing the evolution to the present is amazing. Each camera has become my new favorite and the D3200 was a quantum leap ahead compared to the old film cameras. I know there are some old school photographers out there that insist that film is the only way but I think they are idiots. The photos I take now are a million times better than what I used to take. The best part is the camera + lenses have been paid for many times over in all the film I'm not buying and more importantly am no longer paying to be developed.
you are a superstar! I have had this camera for 3+ years and it was useless cause I didn't have autofocus and couldn't film and you changed that for me!
Using this camera for about a year now it has rarely let me down. One of the best series that Nikon released for video if you had not known! Even though you can get great shots with the kit lens I purchased a fixed Nikkor 50mm f/1.8 that takes excellent stills on this rig and is a little bit easier to work with in low light. Awesome for the semi-pro or hobbyist photographer! Thanks for the review Jared, I copied your setup when I first obtained the camera and it has worked great!

my d3200 refuses to take pictures even with flash if i dont have enough light. Any tips how to fix this? Trying to take pictures in a dark room with my flash on.
I cannot stress enough, do not use the green auto mode, the ISO used here is horrible high most times and turns out noisy grainy pics. I took a couple in the evening with the flash on on auto mode, and when I checked the picture later it was so grainy and noisy, I then checked the picture file, right clicked on it and went to properties, then under the details tab you can scrool down and see the settings that was used, such as the numbers used for shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. And when I saw the ISO that it had used I was shocked, ISO 3200 :o Why in the world would it use ISO 3200 for such a picture taken with the flash on, no wonder the photos turned out grainy and full of noise. If you are not comfortable shooting in full manual mode then at least shoot in program (P) mode, that gives you the option to set your ISO as you want, I have mine set to 100 and with the auto iso control turned on and set to max ISO 400, this way it will try to shoot at ISO 100 but if it need a little more light it can go a little higher, but only up to 400 :) Higher than that is to noisy for me, I know they say it is a matter of having the right exposure settings and then you should be able to go higher with the ISO without getting noise, but I just don't like it..
excellent comment! i've always thought my ISO was set at 100 because thats what it shows on the LCD. But when i checked the EXIF data, I was shocked at how high the number was. Then in the settings I discovered the Auto ISO Max ISO/Min Shutter Speed settings. Which still makes me wonder why the heck they let the display on the LCD say ISO 100, was really decieving so I'm glad I looked at the metadata! Anyways, I know this is an old comment but it was helpful for a struggling noob like me, so thank you!

Most Helpful. Thank You so much. Not afraid of my camera anymore. Do you have a tutorial specifically for shooting the night sky? with d3200, and indoors low light? Recording studio's get dark.
Finally got my hands on this camera after years of using point and shoots. I was overwhelmed and started my google search and there, your "fro" popped up 🤣 I have watched this video several times already and feel excited about taking pics. Can't wait to play and expand my knowledge through your expertise. You're awesome! And greatly appreciated man.
Fro, you’re the man. I really appreciate your clear and concise lessons. You’re a true pro! I got my D3200 many years ago and tinkered with it for a little while, but got frustrated learning to shoot manual. I am determined to learn now! Thanks for helping me on my journey.
I have always used my D3200 in auto mode because I didn't understand the camera and all the options. Since we just booked an African Safari (picture safari, not a hunting safari), I decided that I want to know how to use all the manual settings to get the best pictures. This video was awesome. Thanks
once you got into the menu settings, most of mine are greyed out and when i click them it says "this option is not available at current settings, or in the camera's current state" how do i get all the options to open up for me?
The center weighted metering also looks at the whole scene, it "averages"it , but for the final reading, it will attribute more weight for the center area. In one of the auto modes will, of course, automatically compensate the variables to meet the camera 18% gray view of the world. In manual mode only shows how far the reading is far from this "gray tone world". A thing that works for me is almost only using matrix metering in one of the auto modes and pay attention where I put the focus point, because that, in the Nikon world, tells the camera to judge the whole scene but make it taking into account primarily the subject/area where I put that focus point. Almost like an auto spot metering. In Manual mode, I turn off Iso Auto, and use basically spot metering or center weighted depending on how "dynamic" the scene is. Coupled with the Zone system, perfect exposure all the time. So rewarding.
This guy would be so attractive with a haircut, his hair slicked back or just short, some looser shirts, less facial hair & a tan. I know the fro and the rest is his look, and he already is good looking, but I'm just saying with a few changes he would be irresistible.

A big thanks for this walkthrough of the d3200. I just bought this camera a month ago, and as my first dslr I didn't know anything! So thanks for going through the basics in a way that is easily understood and without talking down to a new user like me. I am learning quickly and not using auto at all, and a big part of that is due to your helpfull videos with explanations and tips that are both easy to grasp and sometimes quite entertaining too ;-)
This video is extremely helpful to me! We bought D3200 jus 2 days ago and my father decided to read the user manual everyday for an hour to learn the basics! I am gonna shock him today by showing him how things actually work in this :D
I'm an instant fan of yours as your details, descriptions and explanations are top-notch. Very well done, articulated and conveyed to the new photographer in me. I will be sure and watch all 1000 videos that you have online and feel this is my new start to taking great photographs. You are an inspiration to me and all beginners alike. Great Job.!
This was so helpful in helping me to understand my new camera. I have read through my manual but can barely make heads or tells. Now having it explained with a hands on person giving me visuals at the same time I have more confeidence in going forward with my photography experiences. Thank you so much Jared.

Hello Mr. Polin, I'm so glad that I discovered your online videos and info because they are just so helpful. Soon I'll order some of your more advanced material. Next month I plan on purchasing the D3300 up here in Toronto, my first SLR. The last pro camera I owned was a Pentax MX 35MM, so it's going to be quite an upgrade for me ;) Thank you so much for your help. As soon as I unbox my NIKON D3300 I am going to watch your NIKON D3200 Users Guide video again! All the best!
love it, thanks for this, I feel like you answer a lot of questions that I would be almost scared to ask an expert. I am a beginner photographer as of right now, but now I can definitely hope to improve with time and with your very useful information, You now have a new fan, please keep it up and love the hair!!!
Jared thanks very much man. I just got one of those and you have helped me to get through it really well. Your video is on point, explanations very clear, voice great to listen to anf overall presentation warm and fun. thanks again Jared.
Great video! We bought this camera years ago with an interest in photography. Well, things get busy. Recently, I found it where it's been sitting in storage for all these years. This is an extremely clear and helpful guide to help a newbie like me. Thanks!
While I have not figured out how yet, it is my understanding that you can connect the D3200 to a laptop and then take photos and they photos are saved to a file on the laptop instead of the card in which case you would want that card lock button off so you can do that. It's only for when the camera isn't connected to a computer and there is no card that you would want to lock it. In fact I am planning to figure this out for videos so I can save video files directly to a flash card connected to my laptop. At least that is what I am going to try doing. This is very convenient in some studio situations so you can see the image on a larger screen instead of a view finder. A friend of mine has another model he does this with and views all images on a 30" monitor which functions as an external view finder.
I cant thank you enough for making this video..I learnt ALOT about my camera and it helped refresh the things I did. Its motivated me to get back into taking photos again! Thankyou!!
1. Switch your camera to Aperture Priority mode by turning the mode dial to ‘A’ 2. Choose the smallest f-number that’s available. If you’re using a kit lens and you’re zoomed-in, this will normally be around f5.6 (check your manual for details on how to do it) hope this help

Just inherited my dad's D3200 (and a D70s), so this is going to be a huge help in learning the buttons & menu system. Thanks! :)
Thank you so much Jared! I just bought a D3200 today and have already watched this video twice. You're doing great work!
Just bought the d3200 2 days ago and it's my first dslr, a beginner into photography this vid has helped me understand the basic functions! Cheers dude :)
Jared this is the most useful video for this camera. I bought this camera yesterday and was nervous until I watched this video. Awesome video!!!!!!
English is not my first language but wow dude, you speak so clear i understood EVERYTHING, Thank you very much!
Looking to get into photography and right now this DSLR is on the top of my list.

Very Useful Guide , Many Thanks
Jared....... I have learned more by watching your guide than I have with any other learning aid for the Nikon D3200. Many thanks! :-)
Great video! We bought this camera years ago with an interest in photography. Well, things get busy. Recently, I found it where it's been sitting in storage for all these years. This is an extremely clear and helpful guide to help a newbie like me. Thanks!
Excellent Jared. I've recently picked up my d3200 again and forgot how good it was. TOP Man.
just now i got my Nikon D3200 and i found you... God send.. Thanks a lot for this one buddy..
Thankyou!!
1. Switch your camera to Aperture Priority mode by turning the mode dial to ‘A’
2. Choose the smallest f-number that’s available. If you’re using a kit lens and you’re zoomed-in, this will normally be around f5.6 (check your manual for details on how to do it)
hope this help
Just bought this as a kit that comes with two lenses ! Can't wait to start learning how to take better pics !!
Thank you very much, for someone who is in the begining of this story, its more than enough! Very clear and in detail.
Thanks so much for this guide! I just picked one up today and this was really helpful, glad someone took the time to do this for free.
The jingle never changed. Amazing
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHOWING ME HOW MY CAMERA WORKS!!! I just got this camera for my birthday from my girlfriend and I am SOOO excited to start learning photography. SUBSCRIBED...AND I WILL BE FOLLOWING.
