  • In the final part, I did the Bottom gloss coat and also final sanding for this great board, it was very hard to do the inlay plus resin pin lines but the result is one of the most beautiful board I have ever built - let me know what you think in the comments!
    Thanks

I will upload surfboard building tutorials, shaping tools reviews, and great tips about working with epoxy resin art.
    All my boards are made from EPS and epoxy resin and I like to go crazy with my resin! I will do swirls using tints and pigments, cloth inlays, weird shapes, and more.

    Yeahhh boy!! was really hoping to see the center fin installation and how it was to cut through the fabric inlay. Such a beautiful piece of work brother.

      @@kobymaymonsurfboards7320 perfect, do you apply any glass around the box area? or just resin in the hole and squish it in? Thanks for the response dude!

    Hey koby, congrats for the lovely result! Can you estimate how much additional weight the cloth Inlay made?

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is significant additional weight,because this is a retro single fin it is ok, it gives it an old school feel but I wouldn’t do the inlay for a performance board.. or a much smaller patch- i surfed it twice now and the weight actually doing good to this board, overall weight just under 5kg, it’s not much but more than I usually get 🙌🏽

      From my experience with composite materials, I would guess the added weight at about 200 - 400 g for the full deck inlay so the bottom tail inlay could be around 80 - 150 g?

    what did you use to seal it after the 400?

      Matte clear coat spray 🤙🏼

      @@kobymaymonsurfboards7320 thanks for the reply! absolutely beautiful! By clear coat spray do it mean like a poly spray? I’ve made a couple of my own boards here in Myanmar and have trouble finding supplies. Can you wet sand and essentially polish back to a nice sheen?

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@itsmepreston89 if i want it to shine i will use normal clear coat and NOT matte, then basically you do not need to do anything 😄

    I've seen some other shapers on youtuber make the pin lines with markers. It looks like it controls the output of ink better. What are the advantages of doing the pin line with resin?

    • @kobymaymonsurfboards7320
      @kobymaymonsurfboards7320  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, the marker/spray is going over the final coat of the board. It is very easy and looks not great- just nice. Resin pin-line are old school style and last the whole board life and adds more value to the board 🤙🏼
