    Hey Chrome, H&S tip for donning and doffing PPE. Your respiratory is the first piece of equipment you put on, and the last to come off, after you’ve removed everything else then your gloves and after you’ve washed your hands. Everything thing else goes over top. Best of luck! Great progress, enjoy the transformation.

    SikaFlex A1 (or 1A ?) adhesive ROCKS. I glued all of my plywood ribs to my metal ribs and that stuff is never coming off. Much better than traditional cheap PL adhesives which crystallize over time. The Sika"FLEX" stays flexible enough to contend with all of the movements of a build out vehicle.
    There's an alternate if more flexibility is needed from the hardwood flooring industry. It's super soft when fresh which makes it great for squeezing in between tight flat areas. I can let you know where to find these, as they're not normal consumer items.

    A one man conversion is a slow process so patience is required from viewers, suppliers, and restoration team members. Not sure about your van vision but I luv those overhead windows . They provide natural lighting on gloomy days with privacy and possibly ventilation. The side chrome vent caps may be a great place to install cameras for a unique perspective of future travels, security, or used as a air intake to circulate the interior air before the next camp, plus Cruz can then explore the journey with his nose.

    • @jamesgill5511
      @jamesgill5511 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      The ambulance shell is a monocoque structure. What he removed provided no structural support. The metal was only there as attachment points for cabinetry and other interior stuff.

    • @VANCITYVANLIFE
      @VANCITYVANLIFE  ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @james gill is absolutely correct. There is nothing structural to the things that I removed. I have been in contact with the ambulance company and they say the shell is built structurally sound all those brackets I’m pulling out or just to connect internal cabinets to for the ambulance stuff that used to be on the inside. It all has no purpose. just deadweight.

    Chrome that glue looks just like 5200, a marine glue that's so strong that it's the only thing our navy uses to seal up ships,. It is super strong with only one weakness , and that's being twisted. A lot of people refuse to use it because it is so strong, but they don't know when removing the glued on items all you only have to do is unbolt it and twist and it will come right off.

    Chrome I have a tip for you that you may know about, when messing with fiberglass don’t take hot/warm showers because hot showers will open the pores on your body and the fiberglass can creep further into your skin so take as cold of showers as possible, this tip may not effect you because your not dealing with fiberglass all day long like I use to, the fiberglass I use to work with was more for insulation instead of automotive.

It goes up thru the Rocky Mountains and past many many lakes, It is absolutley beautiful, pristine clear blue lakes and snow topped mountains. This is one of the Frontier Gold roads, passable in a high clearence 2 wheel dr van, Emmy can do as well. There is deep snow and road closed till june 1st I think. VERY WELL WORTH THE TRIP and the gold history in the area is amazing, what those old timers did and had to put up with, the new generations could not even imagine how hard it was for them. Hey Chrome 🤘. Anytime you are doing something dusty, grab 4 square furnace air filters and tape them together forming a 5-sided square. Use a box fan, blowing outward, and tape the filter block to the back of it. Set it near where you’re working, running. You won’t have near as much dust flying around. We keep a box of the filters on hand for that reason.

    • @sbenn99
      @sbenn99 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Yes, as it appears the metal panel in the ceiling was there to maintain structural integrity, not any kind of mounting bracket.

    • @robinrapport8728
      @robinrapport8728 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The brackets probably held cabinets and dividers in there before they were pulled out. With all of the ambulance interior, that was the structure integrity.But they never had any intentions of carrying anything on top of it. When chrome gets all the sub structure done in the inside, that will give it back all of its integrity.
