Samaritans Purse is amazing! They are on the ground most times before anyone else.

I lived in eastern North Carolina years ago! I will say, East Tennessee and Western North Carolina have my heart! We visit often and this hit me! Unfortunately the Government won’t help, it’s sad! I have a friend that lives in Asheville and the street they live on was demolished! Thank God they are both alive! The community has pulled together tremendously! So many resources and volunteers! Thank the Lord for people like them! I know a lot of them are going to need prayer! These people need a lot of prayer right now and for the future, some will suffer PTSD from the traumatic event and the recovery team! Thank you so much for sharing this and getting the word out!

I want to thank you, from the bottom of my heart; for not POLITICIZING this event/tragedy. A lot of bad actors in NC, TN, and beyond are attempting to skew this and make it about politics: It is about HUMANITY. Let's all just do the right thing; do the best that we can; and come out on the other side, as quickly as possible.
Our daughter lives 30 min from Boone and only lost power, we thank God for looking after them. We will visit in a couple weeks and bringing items with us. We are so thankful

Hi guys i live in Augusta Georgia and we got hit hard and FEMA is no where to be found but the workers are working hard to restore power and cut up tree's but i finally got power and water God is good and God bless everyone

Much of this is reminiscence of hurricane Sandy up here in NJ. We are thankful for all the help the southern workers came to help us.
In return, my company PSEG has sent a small fleet of trucks and linemen to work on restoring those impacted by restoring power lines and pole, repairing substations, etc.
That KOA is my favorite campground it’s heartbreaking! Thanks for this video

Thank you for all that y’all are doing ! Our church and several others are naming together to send supplies to the hurricane relief, they are sending out 4/6 tractor trailer trucks daily to these affected areas ! Sending up many prayers🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 we serve a MIGHTY GOD and HE is in control !

Thank you so much for showing our little community and for helping. I live in the area of the KOA but I grew up beside of the embreeville fire department and my parents still live there. We thank the good Lord everyday that their place wasn’t affected. We didn’t get to mom for a couple days. We have so many friends that have lost everything and if it wasn’t for the loving people in the area they would have nothing. I have church members that work with eight days of hope and they took a big donation up for them today because they will be going next week to help and distribute things that people need. We are praying for everyone down there that has lost family and friends, their homes, their businesses and their livelihood, God bless them all and all the helpers and lineman. Keep them safe.
I've donated to Feeding America hurricane relief and the Cajun Navy. These are outstanding charities with very low overhead costs.

God Bless Y’all and everyone dealing with this. It is heartbreaking to see. We survived Katrina in southeast Louisiana (the area north of New Orleans). The small towns in our area NEVER saw any help whatsoever from the government. It was truly neighbor helping neighbor along with the generosity of our fellow Americans sending what they could. Those donations meant the world to us. It gave us hope. It was hard. Long, grueling days of clean up with no power, very limited water, and it was so hot that food perished quickly. Six weeks without power and it was 100 degrees everyday for weeks afterward. But, we got through it. One day at a time and it took us over a year to get back to “normal”, but we did it with Faith in our Lord and love for each other, we pulled through and I know the wonderful people in the mountains will do the same. Our area has sent several truckloads of supplies and 2 more leave tomorrow. We know what it’s like and we are praying constantly for you all.

Is terrible for sure a lot still out of power, etc. and some places have power restored also and a lot of people helping others where they can. One church I went to in Roan Mountain in the 70s St John had a lot of damage and people were helping them clean up glad to see that…prayers continue for all
It is heartbreaking that the Government can sent billions overseas but wont help America. Only offering a little over $700 from fema. Like Mike said, neighbor helping neighbor. Its going to take a long time for all the affected areas to recover. If people donate make sure they are giving it to the people because I heard fema is taking the donations. Not sure if they are keeping for themselves or their workers. All I can offer are my prayers daily.

So sorry to see that Jonesborough fell victim to Helene. I don't know if any towns at all on the rivers of Tennessee and North Carolina escaped the devastation. Good advice about donations.

Why is anyone saying the government won’t help. The destruction is massive. FEMA, Tema and others are helping as well as many locals.
It's not the Government place to replace what one may of lost. I'm very sorry if someone has lost their home, belongings or a loved one. It is up to the people to look after themselves and their belongings. Fortunately most people live in communities where neighbors or even strangers can help. When a storm is coming ....just get the hell out of the way or hunker down and do the best you can with what you have. God Bless those who have lost loved ones and their homes.
I beg to differ, my tax dollars SHOULD activate any resources available to save lives, NOT rebuild my home I'll add but, in an emergency situation local/Federal resources SHOULD come in to play, that's what FEMA is for NOT flying imagrants around the country because that's what Mayorkos did with it, YES now is not the time for fueding, we need to band together as Americans.

Where are the owners of the KOA and are they ok? I ironically just met them a week before the storm. I stayed at this KOA for the first time in my camper and it was such a gorgeous place. I wondered why the Kenny Chesney life size cardboard poster was inside until just yesterday I learned he played there which is so cool. I noticed how sweet and welcoming the owners or managers of the KOA were and my prayers are for them. I pray they are ok and if somehow they see this just know that you can and will overcome this loss and days will be beautiful yet again I promise In Jesus Mighty name Amen

Initially it may not be the government that helps, but the government will help for rebuilding for the long haul such as roads and utility infrastructure. But much of this depends on your state government and how well your people in Congress can lobby for the federal aid needed to rebuild. The government helps mostly with the big projects. It does serve an important function. Unfortunately government too often starts slow like a locomotive train right after a disaster and that’s when people get angry and think the government is useless. That’s when average people need to get involved and help each other out until government can finally get it in gear. It’s just the nature of government it seems.
The government has no money! They are spending it over in Israel. My prayers go to all who have been affected by the destruction of their homes, work places, schools, churches, etc. When disaster strikes us , we pull up our boots and get to work to fixing the damage.

Praying for everyone. This should not be about politics or one party bashing another. The government IS helping these people along with many wealthy generous people with donations. It will take time to recover, it always does. But please, please, don't speak untruths about who is helping and who is not. There are more hurricanes heading to these same areas. Pray for all that are in the path. My heart goes out to every person that has lost loved ones. May god give you hope and comfort. Keep your faith....
No "untruths" are being spoken here. Small towns and rural areas don't get much help from government. Unless you've been there and witnessed it firsthand....you can't speak about it.
