WHy do we expect this from teachers and not from any other profession? Teachers are there to teach. They are not social workers, psychologists or probation officers or parents. They are teachers. If you want schools to be equipped to help students beyond their educational requirements every school should have a cop, a psychologist and a social worker on staff. Maybe offer free hot lunches and breakfasts. But nobody would want to fund that, they would rather complain about teachers not doing these jobs (for free) instead. Teachers have to make lesson plans which are fun and challenging, (imagine coing up with presentations for work all day, on how to educate people on different topics) implement them, decorate their classrooms and the bulletin boards outside their classrooms, help struggling students, challenge the gifted kids, grade assignments, and control classrooms full of children, and ensure their safety/whereabouts, organise field trips/guest speakers, implementing and creating IPPs, supervising the hallways on breaks, dealing with bullies etc. That is enough of a job by itself without complaining that teachers don't drop by students' houses to ensure students get their homework done. Teachers SHOULD put boundaries between their professional and personal lives. They are not there to "save" students. They are there to teach.

I went to the theater to see this movie with my friends at 14 year's old. It had up and down emotions. One minute you're mad or sad then you're laughing 😂 great movie. Glad I got to see it as a kid . Makes a lot of sense now that I'm 31

This girl is phenomenal she cared about mario....to not let him give up on himself based on him struggling with things she reminds me of my supervisor telling me to keep my head up...and say it's alright your doing best and that's all I'd ask of you so relax your fine....she likes me and she also has my back no matter much stubborn I am or how idiotic I can be she appreciates me no matter cause she understands my flaws as well as my strengths even my weaknesses. She inspires me to be better and the best part is she listens to me...I'm like Peter Parker when I'm stuck or feeling sloppy the girl is phenomenal she looks out for me even helps keep me out of trouble.Real facts.... even if i tried to give up or feel pity on myself she'd be furious with me to make me try again.Even though we're keeping things professional she does like me cause she's shown me signs....she can't bullshit me....she's warm and fuzzy like my work wife to always be there for me when I need a little help or encouragement....she's there for others too but mostly me as well.Sometimes I can hear her voices in my head.

I have a teacher like her. She changes my life every day. I’m white and grew up in a all white hood and what the white kids in my town would go over to the next town (a black hood) and call them “nigga” and racist names. Most elementary aged kids in my town have never seen a person of color unless they went to a foreign country like Japan or something. So most people didn’t know how to react when seeing a person of color. My teacher got some kids from the black hood and kids in her classes (whites) and talked to all of us and made games so we could actually see that we are the same. Every time a get an “F” on something she doesn’t let me get away with just getting an “F” she makes sure my grades were good enough to pass and graduate.
She's mad because she knows that he isn't a failure and he can't just go on in life with a mindset like that. "That's all I am" I mean I would NEVER let a kid go on with a bad thought of himself like that and plus she is trying to make those kids feel worth it cause they grew up feeling like they weren't.
Because she and all the students including him worked so hard and sacrificed alot to get to that point in the year and for him to trash hisself and give up is kind of a "fuck you" like she said.
Remember people many of the freedom writers became educators themselves. Also remember that in the united states there are schools and entire districts that banned this book in the classroom
