Jack Gallagher: "In an earlier life, as an aspiring trumpeter, I, among so many peers, spent untold hours practicing celebrated studies by Charlier, Brandt, Arban, Walter M. Smith, and others.
The enduring legacy of these experiences seeks lyrical expression in “Souvenirs de Charlier,” for C or B-flat trumpet unaccompanied.
The opening material, drafted in 2002, was elaborated, expanded substantively, and titled in July 2020. It is dedicated gratefully to April Gallagher, the love of my life for nearly 55 years, a victim of metastatic breast cancer in August 2020".
