    Which part of the process do you think is the most difficult? 🤔

    • @johnready630
      @johnready630 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I think stitching the uppers together or sanding the shoe to shape (one wrong move could wreck it) but non of it is easy. Love my UL's BTW

      True. But Wescos are over 500 bucks a pair. Plus, I think that if properly maintained, Nick's boots will wear well for a long time.

  • @Nordic_Sky
    @Nordic_Sky 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    I love the way the heels are slightly flared on Nick's. It's a nice touch I don't see on other similar boots from Wesco, White's, etc.

    • @Nordic_Sky
      @Nordic_Sky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jokemeister1 I can see why you would say that when they are new. They certainly don't look that way after they've been used hard for a while, which is what they're made for.

    • @corneliuscrewe677
      @corneliuscrewe677 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Jokemeister1 They are designed that way for very functional reasons, it puts the heal slightly forward to aid in the arch support and also makes for a more natural gait when you are walking. The height of the heel is for the arch support as well, but also to aid in really digging in your heels on rough uneven terrain.

    Love my Nicks boots! I have Urban Logger honey soles and Urban Drifters black lugs. They take a lot of breaking In because they are built like tanks but once broke in they are amazing! My Truman’s are awesome but nicks have to be the toughest built boot I’ve ever seen. Worth every penny! Just a tip, trace your feet and get your exact size from Nicks you’ll be glad you did.

      I believe we have a few videos that sort of explain the difference between our boot models. TLDR of the videos is that all of our boots are essentially the same boot with some slight configuration changes. Ex. The Overlander = 8" BuilderPro etc. etc.

    Tough boot, but is it really smart to place the seams over the profile of the soles?

    • @Totemparadox
      @Totemparadox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's neither smart nor dumb, it just is. Sure the thread will snap, but not all of it AND there's still glue and screws holding the sole on. Also the thread isn't pulled out that easily. That rubber is tough.

    • @TAdamRox
      @TAdamRox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Totemparadox Another way of looking at it is that other boots don't even sew the outsole, just glue. And they work just fine. So in this case, like you said, even IF the thread completely fails, there's still glue and screws holding it. So it's still better than other boots such as Timbs or Doc Marts.

    I was wondering...for the price point, why aren't the soles trenched before stitching? That thread is no match for concrete when exposed.

    • @Totemparadox
      @Totemparadox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No need to. Yes the threads get chewed and cut up, but the glue, screws, and the friction of the thread still inside that thick sole work together at keeping thew sole attached.

    • @Skulllywag
      @Skulllywag 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Totemparadox Well they can use rivets, staples, c-clamps and Bondo too, but if they're going to do it...at least do it right. Throwing the bathroom sink at it isn't a valid excuse not to do it right, especially when you're charging $500+ a pair.

    • @Totemparadox
      @Totemparadox 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@Skulllywag Or they can not do it. If you'd done a minute of research you'd found out that not all their outsoles are stitched. Some are just glued or glued and screwed. You don't seem to understand that the thread snapping has no negative effect on the integrity and it would snap with enough use even if the sole was trenched. This is the classic way of doing it with that machine and if you don't like, buy boots from someone else. Some people...

  • @Totemparadox
    @Totemparadox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One part caught my eye. During the McKay stitching segment there was no stitching shown before the cement was applied. Was the stitching left out or was the lack of stitching noticed after the cement was applied, fixed and then the rubber midsole attached?

    Any woman that wears a shirt that says “Happy Vibes Only” is most likely to kill you in your sleep…🤷🏻‍♂️
    Anyway, the main reason I don’t like logging boots is the weird curved heel. I get the purpose behind them but always found them odd looking.
    Also, is it not possible to sew through around the entire boot? I’m assuming it would stretch the leather weird or something?

    • @Totemparadox
      @Totemparadox 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean "sew through around the entire boot"? Are you talking about the thread that goes through the outsole, midsole and vamp?

    • @nicksboots
      @nicksboots  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We offer different heel shapes and sizes on our boots so you can for sure find something you like the look of.
      As for the Sole stitching, there is usually no need to do a full stitch all around, and in addition we do not flare the feel on most of our boots, so realistically the stitching around that area would only attach the sole to the midsole.
      Although, we got something interesting on the way, that is stitched all around, so be on the lookout 👀👀👀
