*Hitchhiker's guide to Hallownest, Page 4* West of the Forgotten Crossroads is found the mossy lands of Greenpath, a lush, humid area filled with both flora and fauna alike, kept alive long after the rest of the kingdom's decay by a massive slug goddess known as Unn, who hides beneath a large underground lake in the west. Although Unn herself is not one for talking, ancient tablets suggest that local bugs called the mosskin worshiped Unn in a Celts-like cult, and considered themselves a seperate civilization to Hallownest. The tablets explain that vast swathes of their territory were seceded to Hallownest in an attempt to stave them off from acting aggressively to their presence, an attempt that seems to have worked. The lands that would eventually become the Queen's Gardens, the Fog Canyon, and the Pilgrim's Way were given to Hallownest, in exchange for Greenpath's recognition as an independent nation. They lived in peace for a time, before the infection destroyed both kingdoms. Unn was forced to hide beneath the lake that she now calls home, never to emerge again. Now, the remains of Unn's kingdom are slaves to the strange plague, and, in their haze, dream of Unn returning to rescue them from whatever has claimed them. During my travels, I encountered a six-eyed, large, yet friendly individual who goes by, "The Hunter" hiding in a bush in the eastern regions of Greenpath. He was... interesting. I also spotted a woman with a faded red cloak that looked like a dress and a pointy white shell darting through the overgrowth, pulled along on a string by what looked like a nail with a hoop on the handle. I called out to her, but she either ignored me, or did not hear. I also met a large painter living in a hut to the far west named Sheo, who was quite the philosopher. Despite the fall of Hallownest, Greenpath is filled with life. The number of flora is countless, but the most significant are the massive thorny vines that crowd some parts of the jungle, the Gulka who aggressively fire at things it deems a threat, and the Fool Eaters, Venus flytrap-like plants that hide in the moss and ravenously devour anything that steps on it. As for the fauna, Greenpath is populated by Durandas and Durandoos, who lazily swim through the sulfuric hot springs and fly through the air. They are large enough to be ridden, if one is able to avoid the sharp spines. They are joined by mosscreeps and moss chargers who gather moss to appear larger than they actually are, infected mosskin, mosquito-like squits, infection-spitting obbles, flocks of appropriately named maskflies (whose wings almost resemble cloaks), crawlids, tiktiks, vengeflies, and wandering infected citizens of Hallownest.
I love this area's music so much. I wish that it wasnt so out of the way so I could have a reason to pass through it more often, allowing me listen to the music more.
Although it’s definitely not the same, I feel Ravel’s compositions might be able to scratch that itch (check out his Pavane pour une infante défunte, his Piano Trio, his Violin Sonata in G Major, or his Introduction and Allegro, among others). I feel this Hollow Knight track in particular might have been influenced by his music. They definitely share a similar feel.
I get really bad cramps every month, and whenever I get them I take a couple painkillers and play this while waiting for the pain to tide out. My favourite area/music in hollow knight and it always helps calm me. thanks so much for posting this version ❤
Long comment ahead: I’m still in Greenpath, and I already love this game. I love the tutorial, or the lack of it. It just tells you how to use your sword and how to heal, and the rest is up to you. No clear objectives, just you, your way of doing things, and the beautiful underground ambience of Hallownest. No story plot is thrown at you, so you don’t know wether anything you do is important to the story or not. I don’t even know if beating False Knight was meaningful to the plot (and I’d like it to continue that way, thank you for not spoiling). This is a beautiful game. I wanna thank PointCrow, for inspiring me to play this.
Imagine how amazing it would be to do a hollow knight vr. Not the fighting or parkour, but to just walk through the areas. Better yet, some sort if theme park or studio where they have recreated hollow knights areas.
at first before sleeping i would hear to the ambience of city of tears, but the enemies walking kinda unfocused me, but this is perfect even the enemies on green path make comforting noises
One of my favorites ♡♡♡ By the way, can you record the excited version of this? I remember that there's a difficult area in Greenpath that you have to pass, with some "snails" walking in the water and when you are passing the area, that music plays!

Greenpath was, and still is, my favorite area in the entire game. It's so pretty, so natural, and so quiet at times.
