My 1999 Jeep Cherokee Xj has almost 350,000 miles and is just like new..It even has the original cat and oxygen sensors. The 4.0 Jeep Beast is one of the best vehicles ever made.
I have a ball joint press and I couldn’t use on the passenger side because it’s just two thin separated walls and the one side would collapse.. so I had to chisel it out from the top.. hopefully the new ones go right in with the ball joint press.
when i try to use the press (driver side bushing) it wants to walk at an angle and push the ratchet end into my oil pan the more i tighten till i cant go any further . i have not found a way to keep the press straight jeeps not lifted and the it's is on jacks not a fancy lift the axle is as low as i can take it without dropping it off completely
I like how you say big tires and lift mean ego and lower control arms = ego 😂 last time I looked at it a lift and bigger tires are for cearlance and articulation lol unless your referring to the customer because he's having a shop do it instead if himself 🤣
LOL for those doing this job on their back with few tools Good luck, you're gonna need it, but it can be done. He forgot about the part of lining up the bolts, you'll need a "Come Along"

XJ's are cool too!!! I now have 5 of them!!
Hell yeah! I have 2!
Any video in which the mechanic uses the term 'wallered out' gets my vote. I salute you, sir. LOL
I've changed about 1000 of these bushings and never one used a ball joint tool. 1 hour tops taking my time.
what a track rod? that is a upper control arm.

I put 2 crescent wrenches in there to keep it from collapsing and it worked great 👍🏽
3 link long arm kit eliminates passenger side arm. Now I only have to replace the drive side bushing, ppeeeww.
Another clunking and shifting noise can be the driver's side motor mount.
even 5 years later, got confirmation here to make sure i really had to go out and get one of those press tools!
Air chisel gets em out real nice.
xj zj and wjs is where its at
You forgot TJs they don't fit your buddy's in as well but they are great.
1 week too late on me finding this. Removed mine last weekend. Mine was worn on the topside not axle side.
svborek 1975 how did you get yours out? Im about to do mine before i put the lift on.

Just watched a video to remove bushings without the ball joint tool
How?
@@cazaresf057 I saw one, but they used a pitman removal tool.
Angle grinder and chisel.
Ask me how i know .
If axle is hanging low its pretty easy to cut with chisel
why?
where would i get the axle support bushing for the passenger side upper control arm
Did it stop the clunking?
Yes . Sure did.
