    I’m new to the game.
    So far, I love Lamy Safari fountain pens.
    I have three of them.
    They write like a dream, look great, feel very comfortable, and don’t cost too much.
    I started with Lamy fountain pens because I stumbled across and purchased a Lamy Safari mechanical pencil more than 25 years ago that I still use as my primary mechanical pencil. Wonderful products.

    I've just started into the fountain pen journey! And thanks to Samuel, because your videos were the reason that made me fall in love about this pens! I have two, for now.
    The first one is a LAMY SAFARI COZY STRAWBERRY. And the second one is a WATERMAN GRADUATED that my dad gave to me as a gift (he also collects).
    I want to buy the Otto Hutt Design 04. I think its pretty beautiful.
    Cheers from Brazil!

    Hey! Thank you for all your great content. I just bought a 149 partly thanks to you. However, I have a quick question. Is a Montblanc nib in the size Fine less durable over the years than a nib in Medium or Broad? Is it more likely to be worn out, bend or break? Thanks! 🙏🏽

    • @SamuelNaldi
      @SamuelNaldi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Really glad to hear. The answer to your questions is: NO. Each Gold Nib has an Iridium Point at the tip that prevents the Nib from wearing out over the years. You will be perfectly fine for decades with your 149 if you treat it well! 🙏🏼

    Love the video. I am own Pelikan, MB, and Lamy. Here in the US, Pelikan service was acceptable when I used their help for a nib exchange. However, the MB service center has had my "diplomat" hostage since the beginning of September of 2022!!! They have given me multiple ETA's, only to change it later. I am starting to feel like giving up on them. While they may be very well reliable, fast is not something I'd classify them as. I understand they "hand make" their nibs, but 8 months [and waiting] for a nib exchange is outrageous! Just had to add my 2 cents :)
    As always, great video!

    • @SamuelNaldi
      @SamuelNaldi  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey thank you so much for sharing your after sales experience. Indeed Pelikan is very fast. Also Graf von Faber Castell and Caran d’Ache are extremely fast. Montblanc usually takes 6 weeks, if you leave in the US i would count with 9 Weeks, which is a bit more than 2 months 😂 and not 8. Your waiting way too long. I’m sorry fo hear that. Would be great if they explained you why it’s taking so long.

    Lamy Studio and 2000 (Pico for quick trips.) with the Waterman Expert to round out my daily drivers. Graf von Faber-Castell , I was introduced to as a kid growing up in Wiesbaden. When I came back to the USA, I stepped into desk models such as Waterman Exception (blue), several Graf’s (partial as it was my first purchase), I have several Classics as you call them, here in the greater Boston area, we call the “Guilloche’. Black, Macassar, walnut, cognac, Classic Anello fountain and the E-motion wood and a Bentley (Sequin Blue) rollerballs. Graf is by far my favorite manufacturer. *I mix my own ink to provide unique color profiles based on the purpose of use. Example, any business deal is signed Mitch a mix of black and blue with a hint of Yama-Budo to tinge the feathering to ensure ORIGINAL signatures on documents. If it doesn’t have the purple feathering, it’s a fake! My business diary replaces Yama-Budo with you-yake while my personal diary changes between Shin-Ryoku and Ajisai. My base is almost always Graf carbon black and Pelican or Waterman blacks. Paper places a determining factor as well. Clairefontaine - Triomphe responds to different nibs (SF) leads to less feathering and color combinations better than say, Rhoda with a fine nib. While Apica is the epitome of paper that I have experienced. I welcome more knowledge on the subject. My signet is QuillTip. I’m always available for greater knowledge on this subject. Thank you for your videos!

    The quality of Mb fountain pens is not the same anymore 😢 Brand new pens have issues with either the nib or the flow. It’s a shame that despite the deterioration in the quality the price is ridiculously high. Go for PELIKAN, LAMY or Japanese fountain pens!!!!

    I love my black makrolon Lamy 2000, perfect in every way, but I also have the stainless steel version, which writes beautifully but doesn't post well: the cap is loose and often slips off. Very frustrating. Totally agreed about the Pelikan however. I have the M1000 which is fantastic. MontBlanc 149 - I've always wanted one, in principle at least, but overpriced and too many people have said it is fragile.

    With the MB 149, people will notice you know about luxury, but not about fountain pens. Although I like them, when you got deep into the hobby, MB is not so important anymore.

    • @SamuelNaldi
      @SamuelNaldi  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Montblanc is very important and the reason why the other brands still exist. If MB wouldn’t do the incredible job they’re doing for the community even fewer people would be interested in fine pens. Montblanc Pens are extremely well made and thought and if you had the chance to visit their manufacture in Hamburg you will understand how much know-how and care goes into each Montblanc.

      @@SamuelNaldi No. In the 1950-2000 Sheaffer and Parker did more for fountain pens then MB. Now Twsbi and Pilot do more.
      As for well made, the late Frank Dubiel once said that every year old MB 149 he inspected under a loupe had microcracks.
      The is not to say that MB does not occasionally make a good pen. The Medici for example.

    I have these pens of those shown: Lamy 2K; Pelikan M1K, M800 nd many others, and Montblanc 149 and others. I don't like pencil--like pens or pens with metal sections, so I don't even want to try any Graf von Faber Castell or Otto Hutt products; I think of them as effeminate and aesthetically unappealing. I want and own pens with some girth.

I prefer more traditional cigar shapes, or designs such as Sailor Pro Gear. In addition, I prefer pens made of acrylic, ebonite, or plastics, decorated with pleasing color schemes.

    Well if you have the Lame 2000 you perhaps should have considered the Diplomat Excellence A2?
    As for the German thing about precision. I' sorry people said that fifty years ago. Compare to Japanese pens, some of the modern U.S. manufacturers, perhaps the British hand made pens and companies like Aurora? The world has access to the same machinery if they want. It's all about the target market niche.
    Then look at Montblanc who often have a wobble in the threads between the cap and the barrel. Overall Montblanc aren't really that well made compared to the Graf Von Faber Castel, or Pelikan, for example.
    As for Pelikan, you fail to say that the M80x and M1000 are of the same top quality and that the others are not.
    The GVFC is not a wooden barrel by the way - have you not looked inside it? A metal barrel with wooden cover. A beautiful pen. But, don't let facts get in your way.
    I stopped watching at this point. The heavy over sales pitch was just too much.
    I'm sorry, though there are some superb pens in your selection, I have a low tolerance of marketing B.S.
