The Lamy 2000 has a very satisfying click, but that Aero ooooh now that is sublime and for me on another level, and surprise they are both German. We all see things differently, so not saying you are wrong especially if you own both, but for me the Aero is 'the click' to die for. Both are amazing writing tools too, of course.
I think the Lamy 2K should be on everyone's list. Are Lamy 2000 nibs pretty consistent? The Studio , Al Star, Safari nibs can be hit or miss. Thoughts?
@@GoldspotPens I agree. I pulled out a couple of my older Lamy Safaris and AL Star pens - they are >20 years old now - and compared those to some recent purchases - very, very consistent.
Hey Rvor, Lamy standard nibs really are inconsistent in my experience. 2K nibs are not, as far as I know, but keep in mind they are broader than their standard Lamy counterparts. I have a 2K in broad and it is like a double broad. Just keep that in mind and I am very sure you will enjoy your 2K a lot. Best wishes Jan
For goodness sake, stop with the off-angle shots of you just speaking. Who are you talking to? Not me. You're not looking at me. It's distracting and impersonal feeling, like you're trying to be "professional" with your video production but missing the point that your main objective should be connecting with your audience. If you do off-angle shots of product highlights, that totally makes sense.
Nice video! Hope you will present more Kilk models in the future! Glad you've mentioned the Bock particularities, i have 3 Leonardos with Bock and 3 with Jowo, and prefer the Bock (springy nibs with a little feedback, the Bocks have more personality than Jowo).
I can vouch for the Kilk as both a lovely wrier and fidget gadget. Once I was more than satisfied with mine I bought a second to give to one of my best friends over some 47 years. She loves her’s as well.
Great video, but I would put the Kaweco Sport in Brass. LOVE the heft of it and the thing is virtually bomb-proof: As long as it's capped, I think I could run it over with a car and nothing would happen to it. Amazing patina. And I get SOOOOO many compliments about it. LOVE it. I also have BOTH a Visconti Homo Sapiens (original) and a Lamy 2000. Both are incredibly satisfying to hold with unique textures. And the cap on the Visconti is really addictive to fiddle with.... You didn't mention that the finial on the Visconti has a magnet top so you can add your own features there. Visconti makes some. I thought about getting a star sapphire fitted for mine but decided against it in the end.
I agree totally with your reasoning as to why we (I) still write with a fountain pen - the fact that I do my best thinking when I write longhand. While I might not like the idea of a vanishing point - if one wants retractable get a biro.....on the other hand of course it's gorgeous to use....When my Lamy 2000 fountain pen nib had some problems everyone was amazing I have never seen such customer service....the staff seemed to know how upsetting the disappointing crash might be. Thus loyal customers are made.

Hi. Very nice choice of pens. I also have a Lamy 2K Bauhaus blue and I fitted mine with an Oblique Double Broad, it's smoothness is amazing. I really have a problem with Visconti pens, but I would love a Blue Lagoon.🤗 Cheers from Australia.
I always assumed the the two metal protrusions on the LAMY 2k was to make it easier to find the ‘sweet spot’ for writing which is my biggest complaint with this pen. It’s very easy to get skips and slow starts if you don’t hold it just right. I never imagined the purpose was related to the satisfying snap you get when put the cap back on. Love your list though. I want the Aero next. Love my Lamy 2k and my Homo Sapiens

I have a Pilot Custom Urushi in black and a Pilot Custom 845 in red, they are not only satisfying to write with but also extremely reliable! The Homo Sapiens is a pretty pen, they have often unreliable feathers.
At first I wasn't keen on the Lamy 2000. I thought what is all the fuss about. Well I bought one in January and I haven't stopped writing with it. I have the broad nib. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOvE this pen.

I saw a youtuber who used a double bulbed syringe. The taper on the smaller lower bulb was wide enough to quickly fit the top of the feed without having to feel around for the feed tube that you can’t see. Just more quick and easy to use. Has anybody else seen that type of syringe? I spent 10 bucks on a similar ear cleaning bulb that looked like it would do the job but it leaked between the tip and the bulb.
Great video! Pleased that the first two pens (Pilot VP and Lamy 2000) are both in my stable already! My Lamy 2000 is an EF, and I've never experienced the limitation of a sweet spot. It's definitely my favorite fountain pen experience.

I really like the Aero's design but I cant get around to pay that much for a steel nib. Looks like Pilot VP is only gold nib within my budget

I’m sooooo glad you mentioned the Diplomat Aero! One of the most satisfying pens EVER with one of the best Steel nibs out there!
Love the Homo Sapiens and Aero very much. Wish the Visconti was more affordable.
The Visconti Mirage Mythos is a very lovely pen for under $200. It does have a gold plated steel Schmidt nib, but it writes wonderfully.

Does the kilk feel like a celluloid. like an OMAS?
While it's not as dense as celluloid, it certainly has the glossy, polished feel and chatoyance. It doesn't have the camphor smell of celluloid.
