    When I was a youngster we sunk a bass boat in Lake George after a summer storm snuck up on us and the lake got nasty. No one was hurt and luckily more people were there so rescue was fast but that lake can turn on you fast. One of the scariest days of my life, could've been way worse. Glad you did ok and had a good time😉

    Have you thought about sleeping on the floor of the boat and make a radius cover that would give you a lot of headroom and keep you off of the cover so no moisture gets on you or your sleeping blankets. Probably a great "no-see-um protection. Kind of like a Conestoga wagon effect.

    Whether hedonism is a good or bad thing, I think, depends upon what your pleasure is and what your perspective is.
    Simply desiring pleasure is surely not a bad thing. What else is meaningful in life except for happiness...
    Although don't forget that happiness comes in many flavors.

    So your Pack Towel...I explored public lands, living outside for 6+ years, in Florida. This was all by hiking and bicycle. The boating part will be coming soon....but about my towel.
    That six year period that I spent living outside full-time was ten years ago, but still, to this day, I carry a heavy and durable washcloth In my pocket, and I am never without it... EVEN AFTER LIVING INSIDE FOR 10 YEARS! WHY?
    Because it was the most indispensable part of my gear by far. Wiping sweat is very important when it's really hot. If you don't do it, you feel like you have bugs crawling over you, and this feeling is progressive as the sweating increases. Without wiping, it will drive you crazy... literally. Then...
    It's the best mosquito protection I've found when in high heat, if your vented tent hasn't been pitched yet. If it's cool outside, you can just cover up, but if it's 85° at night...like it can sometimes be in Central and South Florida, you can't cover up and be comfortable....so what do you do? You can wet your towel and swing it in a pattern across your upper body....your lower body is protected by being seated on the ground...that disturbs mosquito's flying patterns. When learned and practiced, you can sit on the ground, swing your towel, and no mosquito can't land on you 97% of the time.
    Now, "Backwoods A/C". When you use your utility towel to wipe sweat, it gets salty. Salt water evaporates at a higher temperature that fresh water, and so it is easier to evaporate, which makes evaporating saltwater much more efficient for cooling than freshwater is. This is the basic premise that is used for making homemade ice cream with rock salt.
    So when you swing your salt water soaked utility towel like a fan, to cool yourself...if you can swing it like a fan (takes practice)...the air is noticably cooler...like A/C.
    This really works. Try it. After swinging your salt-soaked towel for awhile you can touch it and feel that it's cooler than ambient.
    I'll never feel comfortable without my utility towel.

      Yeah I don't think it would be a smart thing to have different channels for different types of adventures. It would probably make each of the channels less prevalent on TH-cam and would get noticed less

    Why a C-Dory and not a Parker?

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I'd enjoy having a Parker.... But I have a handful of reasons why I went C-Dory. The price is half for the Dory. 8" draft vs 15" draft. Dory weighs 1,950 lbs and the parker weighs 3,520 lbs. I'd need a new truck to pull it.

      @TripSmith  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Could be.... But lots.of older boats were constructed that way. I've bought one and cruised hundreds of miles on her. Just finished a trip down around Anclote Key recently. Check out the video on my channel 👍🏼

      Solution chk hull and deck w/ moisture meter.
