    Thanks for doing this video. I just used it to walk me through the install of a S&A magwell and mainspring housing on my Springfield Range Officer in .45 ACP. It was very straightforward and easy to follow, and I had it installed in minutes.

      Excellent! That's what TH-cam should be! I hope the powers that be don't mess it up!!!!

    Can you let us know what spring and other parts are needed to do this conversion? A link would be useful. Thanks.

    So I need to get different springs for mainspring housing because the oem springs won’t work on Ed brown housing right

    Great video! What grips are those and do they have cutouts for ambi-safety? They look great on your gun!

    Is that a officer size mainspring housing from Ed brown or the commander/gov size on a 4in commander 1911?

    What brand rear sight did you end up going with when you changed it over to a point of aim setup?

      It was one I had in the parts drawer... I'm 99% sure its this one:

    Idk if your still commenting but i have a ro compact what grip and magwell should i go with for a better grip on the gun? I have bigger hands

    • @BlackMuttVideo
      @BlackMuttVideo  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That has the officer sized grips I believe and I don't have any Officer sized 1911's. I think the wilson combat compact grips will offer significantly better grip than the stock wood grips as they have much better texture and are slightly thicker than the stock. My preference is the VZ G10 operator II but i'm not sure if they are available for the compact size. Sorry I don't have more experience with compact grips .

    Would the officer MSH fit the champion operator LW as well???

    • @BlackMuttVideo
      @BlackMuttVideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      AFAIK. this MSH is a standard 1911 sized part. the RO and RO champions are full and Commander sized respectively - both have the same sized grip and therefore MSH. the Operator just adds a rail. if you had an Officer sized gun, then you would need a different sized MSH

    • @NatuRebOyMUSICK
      @NatuRebOyMUSICK 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So the Ed Brown Commander MSH will fit fine?

    What kind of 10 round mag was that?

    • @BlackMuttVideo
      @BlackMuttVideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      hmm - don't remember what I had there its not in frame very long. I have Chip McCormick, WIlson Combat, and Metalform 10round mags. All work equally well after I swapped out the slide stop with the 10-8 9mm slide stop since the one originally in the gun was dimensionally equivalent to the 45acp slide stop and wouldn't reliable engage with anything but the stock 9mm for lockback. The stock mag follower has less lateral play than any of the aforementioned mags and the all the 10round mags I tried the follower would slip past the OEM slide stop about 50% of the time. The 10-8 slide stop fixed that and I haven't had any issues with any mags since.

      +Black Mutt Video you have a link for that specific slide stop.

    • @BlackMuttVideo
      @BlackMuttVideo  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Be sure to choose the appropriate colored 9/38 slide stop since this link also has the 45ACP slide stops. www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/frame-parts/slide-catch-parts/slide-catches/1911-performance-slide-stop-prod44455.aspx
