seeing how the original owner abused this guitar was painful, you did a nice job restoring it. i'm not the biggest fan of black and gold, but i really like the new pickguard and the black head.
I spotted one of these guitars in our local pawn shop for $119 and have been researching it. I think you have rebuilt a great guitar. Looks very sweet.
Thank you, they are inexpensive guitars and play well, especially the older ones. I definitely put more money into this than it is worth, but I did it for the learning process, fun, and to experiment with sound
@@JoelRodriguez-pk8fx I went and bought it the other day, Made in 1990! The electronics are a little scratchy, but either cleaning or maybe an upgrade?? (Talked them down to $105 OTD. )
I would try cleaning the electronics first. Some DeoxIT spray from Guitar Center would probably be all it needs. Not too pricey if you are not looking to change the sound.

Nice painting. I tried to do that back in the pandemic, couldn't find cheap primer so i painted it with the cheapest poly finish i found (red), then black spray, golden spray, clear spray.... Too many layers but at least it looks closer to what i want 😅 I should have really gotten that primer, as it seems to make it faster. It makes me happy to see i am not the only who sands by hand😅
That Duplicolor line has been great for guitars- I have done three guitars using auto paint and primer, and clearing with Spraymax 2K clear - the clear is a little pricey but gives a nice hard protective coat. I want to try guitar lacquer from StewMac next time I do something

I'm 57 now, so if you are 40 years old or younger, live in either Indiana, California, or Texas, and don't know who your father is---it ain't me!! That's my story and I'm sticking to it. 🙂. I have an EG 112 from probably 2002-3 that the jack has completely come off of, and I’m thinking about redoing all the electronics while I’m in there, new pick ups etc. What type of bridge did you use? I know the original one on mine is rusted all to pieces from years of teenage hand sweat lol. I’m sure I’m gonna replace it but I’d like to not have to do too much to the body to resize the spot for it since this will be my first time doing anything like this… Thanks for the video and any feedback is much appreciated!!

I do not, I cannot remember where I learned about the numbers on mine and could not find any info - since these are the lower ends on Yamaha guitars, they do not seem to follow the numbering you find online. I good guess would be either 2007 or 2005 but I would not rely on my hunch

Not sure. I ordered a Yamaha Pickguard from EBay because the generic Strat ones are for fender style bodies. This guitar is slightly different shape, so search eBay for your guitar style and you will find them.
I recommend locking tuning pegs - measure the diameter of the holes - if I recall they are 10MM. I like the Hipshot tuning pegs - great quality but a bit pricey. I have used Guyker tuning pegs when I don't want to spend on a cheaper guitar with no problem - different styles to choose from
That I am not sure. I know the neck is slightly wider than a tele neck and the neck sits deeper in the pocket - I would use a digital caliper and measure your pocket depth and width and give the guys at Warmoth a call.
I sanded it with 220 to get rid of some scratches, not too much though, just enough to clean it up. I did not sand where the neck goes into the pocket though. Then I coated it with Tru Oil and hit that with 0000 steel wool - it feels really nice and smooth.
