    Hi there! I am sitting here qurantined, thinking of what to do to earn some money one day, since I lost my job recently, and I came across this video. I have just started reading about HTML when now I realise I would have to first learn about Design :), which is awesome. Thank you for this video and wish me luck. I am a pure beginner into web design and to be frank, not that much certain I could do this - learn, master and one earn money from it. But, I would do my best. Hi, I've been doing this since 1991. I was a graphic designer/print before the web in 1991. I do think Joomla and WordPress are becoming old school and webflow is amazing. I wouldn't worry about design skills but studying what templates look like from types of websites will work. I would look up Photoshop videos because you will need Photoshop skills to edit and modify images. I love web design and you won't get bored. The way web design works changes every five years at a minimum. I would maybe join a meetup

    I was looking into UI/UX and design and I was wondering. I know in today's society, experience is weighed more than education. With that said, would you recommend obtaining a Certificate/BA in design or just learning it on my own and creating a portfolio of my projects from what I learned?

    What's the difference between ui/ux and web design ?

    • @uiuxshoaib
      @uiuxshoaib 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Web design is technically a category of User Interface Design (UI). i.e. Mobile Design will be a part of User Interface Design. UX User Experience is the top part that covers how that UI feels and is being used, hence called User Experience.

    • @karanhamav5507
      @karanhamav5507 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@uiuxshoaib so basically UI / Ux is an umbrella term for web design.

    • @peter.dimitrov
      @peter.dimitrov 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Looks like most people put UX outside of web design, but what kind of web designer is the one who creates designs without thinking about the experience and how people will interact with the design? I think a good web designer/designer is already a UX designer. I like to say that the purpose of design is to make something beautifully usable.

    • @uiuxshoaib
      @uiuxshoaib 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karanhamav5507 yes, you can say its an umbrella term.
      Both UI and UX are required to create a great design (mobile - Web - anything basically )

    • @uiuxshoaib
      @uiuxshoaib 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@peter.dimitrov True bro, people in fact unknowingly are making UX better by tweaking their UI, they just don't know its called UX Design.

I am currently going through the Treehouse Web Design track but am struggling for project ideas to use to apply what I am learning. You say building any site will help a newbie develop their skills but it can be very difficult to figure out what to build when you have no client thus no art assets other than what you can make yourself. I think one thing that has not yet been taken in to account with modern websites, is that everything is very big, which can be overwhelming and hard to take in. If you are viewing such sites on mobile, buttons are always accidentally hit, because they are so big (for example, deviantart Eclipse...) I think web designers should think about making things smaller and therefor more easily readable rather than super big/sleek, even if it "looks" good, but is not as functional as it should be. It has gotten to the point that "sleek" immediately turns me off, because I know it will not be functional. If it feels like Wix, it's usually garbage.
