Amazing that the gate posts are still there after all these years. There is a historic toll road near me but it isn't really drivable. We take for granted not having to come to a complete stop at a toll booth, pay, and wait for the gate to open. Most roads, as the one here no longer charge tolls, passage is free. And now, toll lanes on freeways are mostly electronic with windshield sensors. Travel is much easier these days.
@HistoricallyMarked On the Eastern States do you still have to stop to pay tolls? In California and Washington there are no booths, just sensors and cameras.

Yeah it's not so much that I use tollways. The last time was in central NY ($15) and Oklahoma ($10) from OKC to the Missouri state line

@@adventurevin7600 not in Chicago or NY... they'll send you a bill. I remember in Oklahoma 3 years ago they had people running the tollbooths
