Today, this song in my room after a night shower. I'm 31 years old, and I am in the process of finishing writing the first draft of my PhD dissertation. As an international student, it has been an incredible challenging but rewarding experience, and I realize that not everyone gets the chance to embark on an adventure like mine. I am grateful. I am happy to see my chin hairs for the first time as I always dreamt I would, after years of intermittent HRT, I'm finally being consistent with my gel use. This joy that I get from meeting myself for the first time, at 31, is incredible. Thank you for this song, Hatchie! X And yeah TH-cam is my window out of my own world, where I've found the music that keeps me company as I'm a loner. So this goes here for me :) regardless of what others may think.
Deep instrumental sound straight to my heart. The letter is not really important, and the same feminine or masculine. The beat is reminiscent of the 90s.
This is the best song I have heard this year and I dont say that lightly. The way it builds is perfect. It was obviously written and performed by people who love music. All the best from England.
Thank you from the stress and sadness of everyday living. It's a beautiful sadness harriet. I get it. I live it. And you are the soundtrack. I hope to hear from you. Forever grateful and happyfultive.lol
Yes! I KNEW that arpeggiated chord reminded me of something. It's "Back on the Chain Gang"!! I also have a sneaking suspicion it apes a Johnny Marr riff from a Smiths song but I can't quite get that, either. This is cracking stuff!!
"If there's one thing Elliott (Smith) hated it's winners." He is the greatest singer-songwriter in history and knew this. Great art is about understanding, not fame.
@@sirulrichvonlichtenstein4851 Underappreciated then. Fair enough. Virtually all female singers aspire to a black gospel sound. That is what sells. Guitar pop still has its place. In this century I would point to Raveonettes and The Killers as successful pop bands. In the 90s, Luna and R.E.M. were great.
This song is Amazing...I can cry for minutes listening to this lovely song... A deep but sweet loneliness & sadness gives pleasure with lovely words...
I took a mood altering substance and had a major "ugly cry" session when this song came on. The disappointment and sadness that motivated the songwriters were communicated expertly.
Listening to this song makes me feel like I'm in a movie, where I just moved to a new place by the sea, and I'm exploring all the new possibilities and longing for more
I've benn in audio & video production business for a long time but i've never listen to any song so long like this...i can listen to it again and again in the same day and even days after it...something is realy different and Lovvvely about this song...Thankyou Hatchie...
[Verse 1] Feels like I waited on you for how long? I don't know Oh, it's not like me to wait on something for so long Yeah, I know Oh babe, I'm backwards and I don't feel good Oh, you can go and run away Oh yeah, I'm backwards and I feel stupid I'm watching you back away [Pre-Chorus] I just wanted more from you And what did you do? I opened the door for you And we couldn't move [Chorus] And you could be the bad guy, I could be the bad guy Anyway you wanna try, it doesn't make it feel right It's funny like that And we can talk all night, get into another fight Tell me all our lies, didn't mean to make me cry What a way to react [Verse 2] Maybe next time we can work this out But my head and heart are tangled up for now And you know that I'm backwards And I don't feel good Oh, you can go run away Oh yeah, I'm backwards and I feel stupid I'm watching you back away [Pre-Chorus] I just wanted more from you And what did you do? I opened the door for you And we couldn't move [Chorus] And you could be the bad guy, I could be the bad guy Anyway you wanna try, it doesn't make it feel right It's funny like that And we can talk all night, get into another fight Tell me all our lies, didn't mean to make me cry What a way to react [Bridge] But you never really wanted to talk anyway You never really wanted to talk anyway You never really wanted to talk anyway You never really wanted to talk anyway [Outro] Where did you go? Where did you go? Where did you go? Oh, where did you go?

At 4:07, I thought I heard a bit of Berlin's, 'Take My Breath Away'.
"Modern" 80's beat is the new sexy!
I could listen to this song over and over again as if it's a multivitamins
great description..
Very very beautiful.
What did we do to deserve a music video for every single songggggggg I love you
It's so Beautiful, i'm a brazilian fan!! :)
Every time I think an instrumental is gonna kick in she whacks out another fresh vocal melody. Epic stuff.

The only 'bad guy' song i like!

Solid EP... Robin Guthrie should produce her full album...that would be cool.
Much underrated artist! 🤩

The beginning of this song and underlying melody contain elements of the Cure's Plainsong...
Doug Halvorsen Bingo!!!
Only people having a great soul can compose songs like this! Thank you, Hatchie for your wonderful creativity!!!
Her beautiful voice reached Japan
Great reminds me of the pretenders meets the Cocteau twins

It's insane - sacrilege - that artists such as Hatchie are so underrated - so under the radar.

@@herbertrichard614 Nobody said anything about fame.

great song, you stoned out!
This reminds me of plainsong
Sooo Good!
[Verse 1]
Feels like I waited on you for how long?
I don't know
Oh, it's not like me to wait on something for so long
Yeah, I know
Oh babe, I'm backwards and I don't feel good
Oh, you can go and run away
Oh yeah, I'm backwards and I feel stupid
I'm watching you back away
[Pre-Chorus]
I just wanted more from you
And what did you do?
I opened the door for you
And we couldn't move
[Chorus]
And you could be the bad guy, I could be the bad guy
Anyway you wanna try, it doesn't make it feel right
It's funny like that
And we can talk all night, get into another fight
Tell me all our lies, didn't mean to make me cry
What a way to react
[Verse 2]
Maybe next time we can work this out
But my head and heart are tangled up for now
And you know that I'm backwards
And I don't feel good
Oh, you can go run away
Oh yeah, I'm backwards and I feel stupid
I'm watching you back away
[Pre-Chorus]
I just wanted more from you
And what did you do?
I opened the door for you
And we couldn't move
[Chorus]
And you could be the bad guy, I could be the bad guy
Anyway you wanna try, it doesn't make it feel right
It's funny like that
And we can talk all night, get into another fight
Tell me all our lies, didn't mean to make me cry
What a way to react
[Bridge]
But you never really wanted to talk anyway
You never really wanted to talk anyway
You never really wanted to talk anyway
You never really wanted to talk anyway
[Outro]
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Where did you go?
Oh, where did you go?
The best and the saddest song of the album...
I love this song but the opening riff is almost exactly Plainsong by the Cure off of Disintegration...
j'adore le concept bravo, je suis française :)
J'adhère aussi :)
Pourquoi y a-t-il une si étrange tendance à indiquer sa nationalité sur Internet ? Quelque chose comme "Nom_d'utilisateur était là", je suis russe :)

Great song!
Play at 1.25x speed and it's a pop banger.
