I saw Cocteau Twins live in the 80s. Random. But I thought the same thing when I heard the original. So I searched August and Cocteau Twins and found this
THANK YOU! I thought about how much it sounded like a melody you'd write the second I heard august. Was adding imaginary "Hatchiesque" guitars while listening. Now I can sleep in peace
I really think that if a new Hatchie album had this Cocteau Twins guitar vibe throughout, people would go absolutely batshit for it. I know I would! Thank you so much for posting this cover! I can’t stop listening!!!
100% AGREE!! Will TRY to get to your upcoming SD show, but PLEASE tour closer to the LA area if/whenever possible! I'm telling my friends to listen to your music!
This is just gorgeous! This was one of my favorites from Taylor last year for sure, but you've taken it and elevated it to the next level. Plus I'm just always excited for new music from you, cover or not 💜
Thanks and well done again, Hatchie. Your music soothes my little soul in a world that’s otherwise been just a little harsh.. Thanks for the nurturing music..
@@Valkje3000I been a fan of the Cocteau Twins since '82,so it's very obvious where Hatchie got some inspiration from - especially those guitars. But Hatchie also remind me of a great New Zealand band from around 10 years ago called Junica - that dreampop soundscape is so similar, and that's not a bad thing
@@Hatchiemusic thats cool, glad you had a listen and liked them. Its how I noticed your music a few years back, loved that dreampop sound, and immediately,it reminded me of Junica and another New Zealand band She's So Rad,who were big proponents of that sound here back then. Nik Brinkman, who is basically Junica, has just released some new solo stuff - still with that great sound. Another great act who are very similar to you,is Ashen Ringlets, who are the best I've ever heard,at covering the Cocteau Twins, but their own material is stunning as well. Glad you are able be open about new music,as that aural soundscape you make is stunning - to make a Taylor Swift song sound that great - strewth mate, that's pretty awesome.
you made taylor swift sound like cocteau twins. that's talent

A great shoegaze song can get you high without even consuming any drugs. This is one example. Well done, Hatchie!

Haha happy to have scratched the itch 💛💛
A full dream pop version of one of my favorite songs from last year ❤️😭

Can confirm I have gone absolutely batshit because the album has this exact sound and I can’t get enough.
Wait, what? I was just randomly thinking if Hatchie would like Taylor and now here she is, covering August, lol. What kind of sorcery is this?
Never thought a taylor swift cover would have some of the most intense sub bass I've heard all year 😂 Good stuff
this is actually sending me to heaven
Beautiful. Love the arrangement. Saylor Twist eat your heart out
I've never heard the original version, but Hatchie's one is amazing! Love from Russia! ❤️
The original already masterpiece. You should listen.

This version gave really strong the Cranberries vibes to me which I adore!
Her latest album has a lot of influences from the 'Cranberries', plus 'The Sundays' & 'Sixpence None the Richer' with a dreampop/synthpop flare.

Very Cocteau Twins like - and nothing wrong with that. A shame Taylor Swift doesn't make her songs sound this good, then I might listen.
A friend introduced me to cocteau twins and the first artist I thought about was Hatchie. Glad to read other people hear the same thing!
