Of all the types of spin shots, the draw shot is the only one I feel at all comfortable with. I like this video because it shows what the cue ball actually does and how it reacts. I keep looking for videos that show “why” you would use a spin shot, just as much as “how”. This one does both. Thanks!

I say post-Hunt because James helped Nikki to find his humanity although in his later years he did start reverting back to his pre-Hunt self. But you keep smiling girl, it is most disarming...
Wow! Thank you so much. A lot of these tips bring it all together what I need to do, and how I need to think when draw is in play. This changes the way I am looking at draw shots, specially that about slower speed. I notice I always tend to have high medium or more, and struggled with shooting slower with draw. I’m going to test just how slow (with acceleration) I can get and still draw. Can currently draw medium distance, but find one diamond or less hard. Strangely draw stop shots seem okay for me. Weird.

I've had problems with draw English and they say it's easiest English too control once you master it. That was one of your best instructional and informational videos I will save that to my library for sure
The draw shot is only difficult because our minds tell us it is. Like Jasmine said, the stroke is the same, but your tip is just lower.
Learning the distance to spin ratio is key. Most people have trouble because they haven't put speed and spin together at contact. Also, if you pop the cue ball up on a draw shot, it's time to work on your stroke fundamentals. Level stroke.

I think you must have one of the most dynamic strokes in pool…. The accuracy and quality you maintain while having superb wrist action and an elbow drop must allow you to get however much english/draw/spin you want.

Found (with most shots) that having a comfortable cue/tip is the biggest thing with me and draw shots.
If I’m using a cue I’m not used too, the mere idea of the tip not making contact right makes me slightly lift as I’m taking the shot and it turns into a stop shot.
Using a comfortable cue/tip is huge.

One of the things that helped me a lot from miscueing and “scooping” the ball on draw shots was something that thr FX Billiards guy said:
Most amateurs and many intermediate players are NOT actually hitting the cue ball where they think they’re aiming. Once i soaked that in mentally, i realized that i was hitting the cue ball significantly lower than intended.
REALLY concentrate on where you’re ACTUALLY striking the cue ball. Not where you think you are.

In the future could you address the slip stroke/stroke slip? Your power draw technique seems to utilize this very often but I find it very difficult to harness and end up hitting the cue ball too firm.

HUGE thanks to you Jasmin for sharing your thoughts and tips for the draw shot. I have a great tip for one diamond draw shot, I shorten up my bridge length from two inches to four depending on how many diamonds I need to come back to. I have to give the credit to Mary Kennison, she said for every diamond you wanted to go forward add a inch to your bridge length, I just use her system in reverse. this system only works when the cue ball and object ball are in close proximity, like a diamond. It works for me!

Ohh that Draw shot at 7:48 reminds me of EFREN REYES draw shot at the 7ball before the last 9ball in his HILL HILL (Z SHOT) Match against his fellow Legend EARL STRICKLAND. But after doing that, EARL just threw the towel and did not let Efren took the last shot at the 9 and raised his hand.

Hey Jasmin, I found your youtube channel two days ago and am struggeling with the draw shot too. My question is related to the grip though. I uploaded one video in which you mentioned to hold the queue as if you are holding your grocerie shopping bag (just vertical, not moving the hand inwards). But if I have a look at 7:49 you are actualy using a grip that goes inwards instead of having one half of your hand to the left and one half to right right.
Besides from that, I notice that my ellbow moves up and down alot when swinging the queue (I recorded myself and saw it) back and forth: Do you know a trick to reduce that? I think that might really hurt my accuracy.

I would have liked to have seen you show us after a miscue what you need to do to get the tip back to excellent condition. Because, if you don't know how to do that, then your tip glazes over and that area of the tip will no longer hold chalk well and you are susceptible to hitting another miscue again in that area of the tip.
Problem here in the philippines, we are almost not able to do draw shots like you did in the video because mostly we have very high humidity and our clothes are very slow. Some tables use "felt" as their cloth.

Those glass trophies (Euro Tour?) are in the danger zone around the table, especially when illustrating miscue 😝😝.
Also, are your castings flush on your Apex 9’? I swear, it’s a royal pain getting those puppies to perfectly line up.
Last time I had my table recovered the Tech had to put some Spacers in to get the corner castings to line up Flush! Easiest way I've ever seen to get them Flush!!
@@sixcues I’ll give that a whirl next time I have to recover one. In Gold Crowns, I’ve added washers the help theirs.
I, actually, feel the Apex’s side pocket castings (oddly enough) yield the trickiest fit.
Though, when I’ve watched broadcasted matches, I do notice the tip of the corner castings has a little rise to it, lol.

Off topic... Always struggled with long, straight shots. But since I do the "Jasmin Ouschan elbow drop" on these shots, I significantly increased my success rate. But in this video, I noticed that Jasmin almost lets go of the cue during the stroke and grabs it again right before the end of the follow through. That was interesting to see.
I believe that's called a slip stroke. De Luna does it on his crazy break

@@Jj-hi7ih there is a short of him breaking and its in slow Mo and you can see the slip stroke as well. Plus I have a friend who is working toward breaking his record and has been able to hit 28 mph legally breaking but hit 30 although it was not legal. If you apply the loose wrist to the elbow combined with the wrist and slip stroke and extremely long follow through and bridge length that's de Luna in a nutshell. Do you need another stick for jumping?
Okay I'mma tell you the secret:
1. you are not hitting where you think you are hitting at the last moment (practice with slow speed focus on hitting the exact point you want even if you have to get so slow the CB doesn't reach the OB)
2. Elevation could cause better draw but it is never consistent, instead make a longer bridge and lower your bridge hand, keep at as level to the table as you can
3. Find the perfect spot for your muscles, depending on how much of your triceps are made of fast or slow twitch muscles you might wanna increase or decrease the speed at which you do the back swing and the time you do the back pause. For me I should pull back medium speed and pause for probably 7/8 a second to a second max
4. Learn to not be afraid of touching the cloth, yes unless your fruel is made out of aluminum or has really hard edges, experiment with actually following through the cloth (if your hand is not elevated nothing happens i guarantee) i should note this is only to get rid of the fear not necessary when doing the shot
5. Your fore swing is much more important than the back swing, make the grip looser if you hold it so tight as you move the hand forward (it will avoid the problem the cue tip going up)
6. Work on your timing, the most important thing in a draw shot is not to waste power, have you had the experience of putting a lot of power but not getting any results? That's because you wasted power, you probably started deceleration on your way to hitting the CB, a follow through makes this problem vanish
7. Stop the body movements, firstly you need mental help so don't get up from the shot until it is in the pocket, secondly you need to shoot a lot of single balls with low to high speed and force yourself not to have body movements, this might take someday your muscles and nerves get adapted eventually and your stroke quality increases baby
8. Embrace an open bridge for this shot (it is hard at first but forces you to have a straighter stroke)
9. Probably do your research on motion blindness or motion blurs when things move fast in front of your eyes, you probably see things in black at the contact if cue tip and cur ball, and hitting somewhere else
That's all i can think of right now, it might sound a lot but you'll eventually come to a point where the draw shot would never be your concern in the game and you might have a much harder time doing force follow 😂
What about the quality of the tip of the cue? I think this has a much more impact on the cue ball than a new cloth of the table has.

The most drow I have had was "no dubal kiss 8 into 5, 5 into 7, 7 in corner pocket, 8 into 5, 5 into corner pocket, 8 into 5, 5 into corner pocket, 8 into corner pocket. You have to hit it with the power of a hard brake. The first time the 8 hit the 5 it will jump 2in off the table. The second time 1in off the table. It will leave the 8 spinning. The 8 will hookup and drop in the corner pocket. I would like to hear your thoughts on this shot. You can even make it from an angle on the 5. Good luck with it. You can not be off at all. It was my favorite shot. To Jasmin ouschan
My problem is throwing the object ball on draw shots, so I usually avoid them on long shots.
