I just moved to the Chesapeake Bay area in VA and I got a kayak yesterday. It's just a paddle type, but it's 13' and stable. In my first trip out I caught a little flounder this morning, too small but it's a start. Hopefully I'll learn something that helps from this video. Thanks for the info.
Great video once again Nate, love the in depth Intel. I'm originally from the Northeast and I've been living in the South for 20+ years now and flounder fishing is totally different down here. I'm slowly learning how to use artificials thanks to you so I really appreciate everything you do. Thanks
Man it’s definitely different especially considering up north you fish for flounder in deep water and down here most of the time we are shallower than 3 feet. Good luck out there and glad these videos are helping!
I have watched your channel so often that when my wife hear’s what’s going on y’all she says what’s he fishing for today. 🤣 keep up the great work and tight lines,
Ive been watching your channel for tips the last couple years. Grew up only fishing fresh water but have been going to chincoteague for 20+ years so I finally decided to try my hand at flounder and had an AMAZING weekend fishing. Really only fish off of banks or piers but I target structure with artificial. Thank you again for all your how too's and content!
Artificials are the best way to enjoy a one on one battle. I’ve noticed a lot of youtubers that fish artificials tend to have a much larger viewer base. Good stuff Nate.
Love your videos! I went out last week to a little creek in Jacksonville and caught 8 flounder that were between 18 to 20 inches! Wish I could attach a picture. Gonna make for a good fish fry! I watch all your videos and look forward to the next one! Fish On!
I love using gulp of all varieties. My favorites are the grubs, jerk Shad’s and shrimp. I will say though this year they have been loving minnows. I fish in New Jersey. Also the fish bites shrimp have done well this year. Great video!
Hey, buddy, next time you're out of flounder fishing. Try like a 1 oz bucktail white paint green with a piece of squid on it, strip a squid, and add minnow either green bag or any fresh water minnow. You can get at the bait store Strip ofsquid And a Small bait fish. Up to three, up to 4 inches.
Looks like a nice fun trip! That one flounder was a stud. It was great meeting you at the poke bowl last weekend, hopefully the bagwell goes better for both of us 😂
Wife and I use artificial bait. She pefers the cheaper grubs with a tail. I use gulp. Sometimes she catches more and Sometimes I do. We fish from 2 old Town pedal kayaks 132s
Love all your videos since I'm land locked lol I'd love to be able to catch flounder I'm sure shrimp does great and of course the lure you used in this video as always stay safe and keep those tight lines
Hi there. My name is Eric Davis and I live in Southeast Texas. We fish Sabine Lake a lot. Mainly using Gulp. White or chartreuse. I'd like to see some of your lures this way. Great content buddy. Keep up the great work
@southernsalt that would be awesome. They have a place in Winnie, TX called Sea Pony. That would be a great place to try. I know they have an abundance of Mirror Lures there. Might want to hit them up
Protect your skin from the sun with some moisture-wicking pants. It's more cool than wearing shorts, especially when you get a few splashes or even if not, a little bit of sweat.
When is your next fishing trip ? I would like to come watch in person and learn some tricks of the trade ! Thanks for sharing. Always enjoy your videos 👍
Nate great video I do most of my fishing around west and east bay in Panama City Fl i find it very difficult to fish for flounder because of all the grass How do you get around this in your area of Mobile?
Around PCB and really any clear water area you’re going to have a ton of grass. In these areas I fish under docks and around bridges a lot. You basically got to fish where there isn’t any grass sometimes that means fishing very deep.
Hey man I have been watching your channel for a while now and I would love to come out and fish with you one day if that would be possible. I live about an hour or so from the salt, like st Augustine area but really anywhere. Let me know what you think I have always wanted to get on the flounder but never been that successful just reds and trout most of the time.
Have had more success with live bait on flounder rigs versus artificial. Only one I've ever caught on artificial was a trout trick on a stand up jig bouncing it off the bottom.
Use gulp or fish bites and you will put away the live bait. Before those type of products were available I was out fishing live baiters bumping sparkle beetle grubs on the bottom. The only time I choose live bait for flounder fishing now is when I am specifically targeting really big flounder and I use 6 inch live finger mullet.
@@southernsalt Our season in NC this year is 10 days 9/15-9/25 15" min TL 1 per person per day. I'll be using everything in my arsenal for the short weekend window I have to fish for them this year.

I use vudu shrimp when I target flounder during spring and summer. Actually I'm going to catch some in the morning.
Great lure for flounder!
Love all the tips and instruction in this one. Thanks! (I like using artificials for everything…hate messing with bait 😂)
Same here lol

Do you have a videos on the rods and reel you use , and types of lines
I’m sure I do on here but I also mentioned it in this video towards the end. I try to go over my setups in every video
Nice!!
I'm really interested in the trolling motor setup
Yeah man, it’s an Old Town Autopilot 120. I absolutely love it!
Artificial here in southeast Ga.
🙌 🙌
Mackrel and a green and silver fresh water mino
Right on!
Caught them on shrimp.but looks like you war them out on hoodwink.must be a good time to fish when it's this hot.
Man it’s been tough with the high water temperatures but the action of this lure just makes them mad enough to strike at it
Awsome job looks really fun. What bait you using?
Southern Salt Hoodwink
@@southernsalt oh nice, I fish that spot a lot

No.
Nice 👍
Thank you!!
Love it!

What kind union do you use ? Barrel swivel or some kind of special knot ? … I just started using artificial hoodwinks and slick lures.
I use a double uni. Absolutely no swivels
Been trying my ass off for flounder but can't be at the right place and time. Love flounder
They can definitely be tough from time to time especially when the tide isn’t moving
How do you think the hood winks would work with pike?
Well I know I catch a ton of pickerel down here so should work fine.

Do you think your soft plastics would work for bass?
Definitely, I have a few videos on here but I caught an 8 pounder on them back in December.
@@southernsalt I’m gonna get some. I live up in indiana so hopefully I can find a 8 pounder. Ha
@@Santi_95 man send me pictures lol
What rod and reel setup are you using? Line ?
Chubby Rod 7’2” med fast 15 pound braid
Artificial mostly.
What the name of the lure u are using,Where can you find them
It’s the Hoodwink. Get them at southernsaltbaitcompany.com
Love fishing those flounder with artificial

They are not.
If you can tell me, what is the price of that fishing kayak you are using in this video?

what makes a 4500 dollar kayak better than a 1500 dollar jon boat?
It won’t sink when a swell comes over the bow for starters.
valid point@@southernsalt
Artificials only

Sorry, brother. Those flounder aren't giant by Central Florida standards. It's all good, everyone is happy to get a keeper on any day!
