this is my favorite dish ever , thank you chef , from syria a great tipp for you guys .. you can put this great sauce on a normal dough or pizza dough in a mini pizza shape and top it with a little bit of mozzarella cheese and cook it in the oven and here you have muhamara bites it has the magical taste as pizza for me 😋😋 in syria we eat this in any time of the day .. it's geart as breakfast
Thanks for sharing this recipe!! I'm Syrian and make this often. Only I do not toast the walnuts and bread crumbs- I'm sure another layer of flavor is added when toasted..will try it, thanks! Btw, this freezes EXCELLENTLY! I've used it as a spread on sandwiches and it is perfect!
Walnuts arent ready yet. At least this speicies. if i remember they start to fall in fall. But i never really knew when there are ment to be ready. They fall and some years we grab em some we dont. They should be green atm.
Thanks Chef. The best way to read Arabic words written in English is to emphasize the double letters and short vowels. That's the secret to proper Arabic pronunciation ;) .... mo-haM-Mar-Ra. hoM-Muss. ...... Keep inspiring! ;)
I'm glad he mentioned that it was a Syrian invention. I hate when some foods that get popular in countries other than where they were invented and people don't give recognition to the country the foods originated from.
Chef John!!! You should publish your recipe directions as poems!!! And call it "For The Love of Food". The way you verse the directions are so rhythmic and melodic. And the puns, what would Food Wish be without Chef John's puns. 😄😊
Nice one. I had it once a few years ago from the store. That got me researching recipes and now I make it regularly -- including later this week. Your ingredient list is pretty much the same as mine. I sometimes garnish with pine nuts, or also duqqa.
Thank you chef for your amazing recipes. Always informative and fun to watch. My 2 cents: If you have a pestle, you can skip the processor and add some onions (onions taste awful in a processor) and it'll be a little bit crunchy. Also if you have it, a spoonful of tahini will be very tasty with this.
Chef John, I need a favor. My wife and I have tried a few your recipes with awesome turnout. Thank you! I have yet to make egg foo young, could you please?
Chef John, please demo egg foo yong and make our Food Wishes come true! It's part of American-Chinese restaurant and takeout thriftiness that uses leftover egg yolks for brightly-colored omelettes that look and taste great. My understanding that with traditional "velveting" of meats with eggwhites, the leftover egg yolks were used to enrich those omelettes, so it's a happy use. In these days of national consciousness of reducing food wastage and keeping an eye on household budgets, maybe it's time to revive the recipe!
One thing I have to say works very well is smoked salt, it works well in a lot of places but any Savory dip from ranch to Hummus to this it is fantastic
Please make marshmallows, using the marshmallow plant instead of sugar and corn syrup and such, so that a diabetic like me can learn how to make real sugar-free marshmallows.
mubarak my himar friend! may the fruit of a thousand walnut trees fall at your shod feet, and may your mated pair of camels produce a pure white offspring that runs like the wind, and never bites at your arm!
Yung Falafel Ramadan Mubarak my friend! I don't observe Ramadan myself as I'm not Muslim, but I hope you have a good one! Soon it's Eid, won't that be fun?
Love your channel Chef John, been watching for years :) Have you ever considered doing meal prep videos along side your traditional recipe videos? I think it would be an awesome addition to your channel and perhaps grow your following even more! Much love, from Scotland
germany 567 hey brother ....don't even bother man ....I've seen his comments ....but i won't reply to him . he doesn't know ...he hasn't experienced the peace you and I have ....may Allah give him peace in his heart and all of the people who doesn't know .

Danna Habbal I can't have walnuts. have you ever made it with another nut?
Oh I just thought of another difference...we use onions instead of garlic!
I haven't had it with any other nut, sorry! Maybe try pecans? not sure how that would work out!
I was actually going to sleep, but now I am going outside in the woods on a walnut hunt. Thanks, chef John!
Got a big walnut tree in the back yard, i dont even have to look.
Walnuts arent ready yet. At least this speicies. if i remember they start to fall in fall. But i never really knew when there are ment to be ready. They fall and some years we grab em some we dont. They should be green atm.
Mathusan All those skyscrapers and not one store?
Trader Joe's discontinued their muhammaras and I got so sad. But glad that you finally posted a recipe 😭 Chef John, what would I do without you?????
Thanks Chef. The best way to read Arabic words written in English is to emphasize the double letters and short vowels. That's the secret to proper Arabic pronunciation ;) .... mo-haM-Mar-Ra. hoM-Muss. ...... Keep inspiring! ;)
love from Syria 😃
I'm glad he mentioned that it was a Syrian invention. I hate when some foods that get popular in countries other than where they were invented and people don't give recognition to the country the foods originated from.
I ate muhammara for the first time last year, it's earth-shatteringly delicious. It's now very much a regular dish in the house.
We have this dish on our Iftar table every day 👌🏼
Man, the test of whether or not it's still good on vegetables as a spread is so accurate. Chef John knows what's up.
What would we do without you chef john... You need to go daily.
Ramadan Mubarak رمضان مبارك
.. Peace from Kuwait 🇰🇼
Oh man, with all that pre-roasting, toasting, and charring... you know it's gonna be damn good.
Yes! I've not been able to find a place that has that closer to me. I learned to love it at a restaurant where I used to work.
THIS IS SO HELPFUL! I had no idea what to do w walnuts
Your vocal cadence is so unique and really captures my interest during these videos. I'm like "is he really saying things like that?" And you are!

This looks absolutely wonderful and I made roasted peppers two nights ago. YEA!
You're a true Italian if you can pour olive oil from your finger.
Thank you chef for your amazing recipes. Always informative and fun to watch.

I've never heard of this, I'm excited to try it out! Thanks chef John
Chinese BBQ pork last week, muhammara this week... Chef John can take a dish from any country and whip it up like a pro.
He isn't a pro, he's a legend.
How are you such an amazing chef? I do not exaggerate when i say everything you make looks so good!
Oh my god, this stuff is amazing! Thank you so much for the recipe chef John!!
Chef John's speaking cadence is like asmr to me. Just the right amount so it's not focused on the voice itself, but just enough to be interesting.
Yesssssss!!! Another food wish granted! Love you, Chef John!
More middle eastern food, please!
You know you've made it as a classical musician when you're mentioned in a Food Wishes clip!
I can't make this. I don't have a tiny wooden spoon.
Ah, size doesn't matter.
Chef John, I need a favor. My wife and I have tried a few your recipes with awesome turnout. Thank you! I have yet to make egg foo young, could you please?
S Breazeale make this man's wish come true

Chef John Please
I agree about the nuts. They go from not-even-close-to-being-ready to charcoal in a heartbeat. (I use a dry skillet, though).
I will try this soon . Thank you , for sharing your recipes.
Chef John: "These decisions are up to you. Really any dry breadcrumb will work here."
Me: "You are the green thumb of your bread crumb..."
muhamarra...tasty dip and arch nemesis of the thundercats
I make this often and it is So Delicious! It freezes very well.
That looks really awesome. My mouth is watering.

This is the ideal use for the freakishly small spoon!!
I'm Lebanese but I've never heard of this! But I will definitely make it soon. It's also accidentally vegan like many Lebanese dishes 😁
Oh boy...good healthy Mediterranean food!!
That's right! I love it
You are the Drop Dead Fred of your roasted pepper and walnut spread!
Please make marshmallows, using the marshmallow plant instead of sugar and corn syrup and such, so that a diabetic like me can learn how to make real sugar-free marshmallows.
Thank you Chef John!
Can you try Baba Ghanoush for your next Lebanese dip?

Not sure what that means, but happy Ramadan, friend. Best wishes. :)
yummy you said it right looks delicious
bless you. i was just thinking about this.
Looking forward to that bread recipe.
Yum! Bet that would be a great spread
I'm sure it's an amazing dip, but I bet it would do wonders as a spread on a sandwich as well
"Aleppo pepper, if you can find it..." - Chef John 2020
haha @ snack table
looks good. Reminds me of Persian Fessenjun, walnuts and pomegranate paste
This has got to be Romesco's cousin. I was once a prep cook, and I shudder to think what my burnt nut karma will bring.
I'm getting the hang of the chef style pan toss! 🙌
This recipe is amazing, try it people!
Looks good😎 thanks Chef John✌
My favorite dish.
My food wish is, Chicken Saag. I believe it's a northern Indian dish. Please let me know if you can do this. It's my absolute favorite thing 😬
I use hummus as a spread on sandwiches to replace mayo, catsup, and mustard. This would be awesome on a sandwich...
Here before 100 views...there is a Food God!
Love your channel Chef John, been watching for years :)
Have you ever considered doing meal prep videos along side your traditional recipe videos? I think it would be an awesome addition to your channel and perhaps grow your following even more!

I LOVED your facebook live! I could watch you all day....well, I kind of already do. lol
chef John! Can you please do another lebanese dish or an armenian dish?
always happy to see the #fsws!
"You are the Green thumb of your breadcrumb." Priceless. 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂
I would serve this inside of a hollowed out red bell for display. Can not wait to try this recipe soon.
You could set an uncooked walnut aside to compare the flavor to the toasted ones to know if they're toasted enough.
Chef john can you make Caldereta next or ensaymada? I really love your videos
I will tray
Chef John, will you do a fried milk video? It's like a crispy custardy desert treat.
Yay, I love this!
But the blog post doesn't say anything about how to use/roast canned peppers!
we have this in Syria ...wooo
nehad Something in arabic الخطيب he says it's Syrian invention
Marc Garcia yeah probably. sorry for replying. i shouldn't let people like this annoy me.
germany 567 nah it's all good. People like him wouldn't no kindness or empathy if it smacked them in their nonexistent testes.
germany 567 hey brother ....don't even bother man ....I've seen his comments ....but i won't reply to him .
he doesn't know ...he hasn't experienced the peace you and I have ....may Allah give him peace in his heart and all of the people who doesn't know .
nehad Something in arabic الخطيب Thank you. I hope that some form of peace and kindness can reach him like its reached you where he will be able to keep a leveled head when faced with rudness and injustice like you. I hope you are having a good day.
Where has this been all my life?
I was about to go to bed but now I'm watching video about Walnut Spread.
Oooh... There's an Afghan place in Madison that sells this huge flatbread they serve with every meal. This would go great with this spread!
just gonna request it now, "she crab soup" thank you.
Ramadan Mubarak Chef!!!
Nice.
It's been a long time since the last time I had it
I couldn't find the written recipe on your blog, could you please give a direct link please? Thank you, Chef!
can you do Iraqi food. koba haleb is amazing.
Yay!
why didnt you do a fathers day steak last year and are you going to do one this year?
First time seeing this, looks great. You should try another dip but made from almonds mainly, it's soooooo good. No idea how it's called tho.
Is there a walnut alternative to this dish?
Could you a ranch dressing recipe?
yum😁
Nice twist on the recipe Chef, today am going to make it your way :-)
hehehe first amirite guise? so original and funny hehehehehehehhehehe
can you do this in a pestle and mortar as well?
Yes. That's how it's traditionally made. (More like with a pestle and large bowl though lol)
In Lebanese mountain villages rare is the home that has a food processor. How to prepare without one?
Since your doing Lebanese food can you make kunafah
