Just completed my own similar swap with my 03 ignis. My ignis didn't come with vvt so I reused the m13a head and side cover on the m16a block from a sx4.

As you are talking about Opel engine of Z family it's better to look up for Opel swap (different ECU) I think some regular research about flywheel and gearbox mounts should be done but it should be cheap and straigt forward swap from Astra G Z16XE or other Z engine. It might be even possible to do a 2.0.. 🤔 imagine that bomb 🤣
@@garbagecargarage Thanks man. well its still just the car of my mum and as i know how she drives double the nm would probably end her on the graveyard XD...currently the z12xe is inside but im planning to change that after it died off...maybe transmission is first part breaking apart...other than that i have to give it to the guys of suzuki and opel. this car is proper solid and therefore i want to keep it for her in good shape as long as possible. most modern cars are far too complicated and susceptible...well economics ;(
Thanks. No problem about gearbox, but m16a from a sport needs all kind of electrical stuff too (even abs brains) if you want to youse all af its 92kw of potential. Cheaper and easier to use one from SX4. Don't swap 1.5 go for 1.6 better torque

It depends on which Alto you have in mind. I checked that ->2004 model had a g10bb engine so it might had similar architecture to b13bb but you need to check if flywheel bolt pattern is the same and engine mount holes. Ecu handling is on question too. But anyway for this swap I would go g16bb 😈

It's a direct swap, no modifications are needed. I have seen Suzuki launched wagon r+ in Europe with G13BB so that's why I was interested to swap G13BB in my alto.
@@cranky1812My main concern about this idea would be gearbox mounts (+flywheel) couse it's different engine family. Mounts should be manageable anyway. Also f series was also put to wagon r+ But if it's possible do a B16 man, that would be one hell of an Alto! Although it might bring up problems as to weak propshafts and clutch 😀

Hi, thanks for stopping by. Well M engine family share the same gearbox mount so they are all interchangeable, but let's not forget about differences about propshafts. I would stick with the same gearbox that was already in the car (if the car came with M engine). Or more research should be done about actual gearbox.

@@tokunevicius26 I don't consider my 1.3 (put it on 1.6) flywheel as a heavy one (i know it could be lighter but for daily usage it it better for me) and i would love performance cams but they are like 600€ and more so maybe later 😀 now i'm focusing on ITB and after it on stand alone ECU. First of all I just wanna say that you did great work on this, and I have a questions. How did you managed to get a scanner to work with the ECU? As far as I know most 2004 Suzukis have non-standard obd configuration while having a standard obd2 port. The thing is that I blew my non-vvt m16a and swapped it with a vvt m16a from an SX4, but I have no idea how VVT is working with it's VVT solenoid being removed, I'm guessing that the mechanic that did the swap just bypassed the system or blocked it with a plate of some sort. It currently idles okay but sometimes goes erratic.
Hi. Thanks for stopping by! Not sure about obd connection problems. As many as I tried all went well with my basic Launch. Didn't try on older ones with G engine. VVT has no effect on idle. It just "rotates" intake camshaft after around 4k rpm (as far as I know on regular map) and further more you don't need to take out that solenoid just leave it unplugged (couse you have no plug in non VVT harness). Camshaft will have regular angle at high rpm with no oil pressure from solenoid.
@@garbagecargarage Interesting, I was on the assumption that you'd actually need the solenoid in order for VVT to activate. I might have to open the head cover to verify, then again no proper tools lmao. Also, I just was assuming that VVT was removed because they've reused the old cylinder head and timing chain cover. What puzzles me the most is that they used the VVT head cover instead, there's no way that VVT gear cam would fit. Anyways looking forward for more of your content 👍
@@KaRuNaRuGa Didn't quite get your situation but if thei split the engine in some reason and if now you see a cover without a bump for intake cam (timing side) than they used your old cam or either whole head. Still not sure why.

No problem at all. Think of suzuki ignis sport(same platform/body). In my case the engine is not bigger just larger displacement. These Japan nuggets can take a lot 😃

@@fintan6447 SX4's are all VVT. Lianas in EU should be non VVT. If your Jimny is non VVT than you are safe anyway (you can put a VVT in just it will not work) Just find a cheap M16A and be happy 😊

I do have a 1986 Suzuki Samurai and found a M16a from a Swift soport 2008.... only issue I found is the electronic TB - do you think it is simple as finding the electronic Gas Pedal to instal in the samurai and problem with TB is solved? I want to get all the power from the engine thats why im refusing conver to cable TB from a M13 or M15.
Thanks man. Great project yourself. If you want to use ECU from Swift sport than TB is not your only problem. To run it without codes and limp mode you will have to put ABS brain too (and sort them to work) kind a hard to do a Sport swap (complete) I would adopt Liana's TB (it's mechanical) or just go with standalone (like Speeduino) and any e-pedal

@@luifercdr Well if you are really into this project stand alone ecu (speeduino is the cheapest wit lots of info online) is the best solution because of tunability. Kinda hard in the begining but much more benefits after all (no maf, wideband, exhaust popcorns and many more). Makes all setup simpler more suitable for retrofitting.
Well… the Suzuki Samurai is running NICE using the OEM ECU (the electrician made some tricks to hack the ABS brain). Only problem I see is some lag on gas pedal affecting a little bit. The fuel economy is not as good as expected and not sure if VVT is working… anyways there is a day-night difference with original 1.3 engine. My problem now is to make the AC work properly…. Is there any brain or controller for the AC to increase the idle when AC is switch on? Do you have the RS31s wiring diagram?
If i have a broken M15A engine in a Ignis sport, can i replace it with any other M-engine which has VVT and a cable for the throttle body? I wanna save my little car
You must love that car. What did you do with the M13A? The 1.3 litre may not be the best with torque, but it is an awesome engine for small aircraft. In my opinion the 1.3 litre is far more valuable than the 1.6. It's an excellent engine by design, better without VVT.
I guess it's more about the process not the car that I'm in love with. M13A is sitting in storage corner. It's almost worthless here. I have some "educational" plans for it, or just use for parts if needed.
@@garbagecargarage Fair enough, I have rebuilt engines just for the sake of it, people don't understand. Hold onto the engine, they are very good actually from an engineering perspective. I will be starting a channel showing the use of an M13A eventually and why it is better than all current aircraft engines between 75-150KW. I strongly believe they will go up in value because of it. The price of a comparable Rotax engine that is still not as good costs about $75000 Australian dollars (51k Euro). when people learn that a Suzuki is better for a fraction of the price they will be in higher demand. It will be worth 10 times what the M16A cost you.

The swap seemed really easy, the new engine went right in! They should have offered the Wagon R with a 1.6 from the factory.

No I didn't dive so deep. M13A ecu totaly recognizes M16A plate

Yes. I fact Ignis is the same car as my Wagon r so the same project (4x4 gearbox just has addition "output" if yours is awd)

@@garbagecargarage bet atrodo lyg minejai, kad pravodkes skiriasi, tai jei solenoidas dabar nepajungtas ant 1.6, tai abejoju ar veikia :) Ar kazkaip sugebejai pajungt kitaip ji?
@@tadasstaniulis9658 ne tai jei swapas eina i ta mašiną kur buvo be vvt tai ir nėra kaip pajungt solenoido, pas mane wagonas jau po 2004 tai jau visi ėjo su vvt. Todėl ir nenorėjau 1.6 iš Lianos dėt nes būtų be vvt (o sx4 variklį truputi brangiau šrotai parduoda)
