Agreed on Anna, I didn't get her being there at all. The story here was in the TV show though, with all the Clarissa bits that you mentioned included - I think it was season 3 and then she was in prison in season 4 because of what she did here. Now I've finally got to them, I'm enjoying these books, I'm a couple ahead of you at the moment, with #7 set forJuly.
No she wasnt already in jail, some stuff did happen to get her there in the series. I agree with you, book three is not the best, but stuff will come up in future books regarding some of the stuff learned in this book about the protomolecule and the gate. Also Clarissa does become a recuring character.
