Black Water Night Dive, Kona, Hawaii 03/04/10

Ever see the movie The Abyss? Check out footage of the same creatures from the movie. Jacks Diving Locker dropped us off 3 miles off shores of Kona, Hawaii at night in 6000 feet of deep blue ocean water. Tethered to the boat on 50 feet descent lines we dropped in to insert ourselves into the food chain :/

My biggest regret for our upcoming Hawaii trip is that we're not going to be able to go to the Big Island. If we were, I'd have to budget for this dive. It looks both creepy and awesome at the same time. Nice job on the video!

At first I thought, "Tethered to the boat? Nothing specific you are going to see? Big whoop..." But my God! That is incredible! The whales sound so beautiful. I feel like I could float there underwater with my eyes closed listening to them for the entire dive, and I would still feel like I surfaced too soon. I am definitely adding this to my list of dives to-do. Who organized this dive?
