There are tons of native and non-native English speakers cosplaying as English teachers on TH-cam! Keep up the great content Mr. D!

@@englishwithmrd What's so sad is that most of the mistakes featured in those videos could have been avoided by spending time researching before filming.

Hi! I'm super happy that you addressed this topic here I your channel. I'm a graduated English teacher in Chile but I still believe that I need too many things to learn. I strongly believe that when we learn, it does not really matter if there's a teacher or just a native speaker saying a new expression we haven't heard before: if you want to learn, you'll learn with a certified teacher or with a native speaker. I'd love to discuss more in depth my concerns with you , sometimes I do believe nay way if teaching works fine and in other opportunities I feel that they could be better. Since I'm not a native, I also struggle with my self confidence in my English so that's the reason why I'm here to learn from you. Cheers !

Hi Aurora, thanks for sharing. I appreciate that it must be difficult to have the confidence to teach when English isn't your first language, but the fact that you've been through the learning process yourself also gives you a unique advantage to help your students through the process. Always happy to to connect and talk more about this topic, drop me a line: ewithmrd@gmail.com

I've been speaking English with considerable fluency for about 2 years now, but I didn't have any idea about the difference between less and fewer! Thanks for sharing it

Glad you found it useful. It's a common mistake amongst native speakers too!

I'm from Colombia and I love your TH-cam videos because I can understand all your speeches, I'm learning English for 2 years. Maybe I can't speak fluency english but now I have been watching your TH-cam channel and I think that I can continue to improve my speaking and listening skills

That's so true. IMO 90% of "English teachers" on YT are not a real teacher, don't know how to teach language, and some time teach wrong things (look at a famous Russian women who teach people the things "real American speak" when the real natives do not use that at all. Same on her. She make so much money from that)

It's an big debate so I might have to do a video about it soon. What do you think, do non-native speakers have a place to teach on TH-cam?

Did you learn any other languages in school ? Did you watch content in this language while you learned in school ?
Many people might not be able to use this language in the environment of the language. This is one of the causes why non-speaking countries believe in the magic of native speakers for learning.
My case with my fourth English language is untypical to compared how people learn their languages. I know more about learning languages than most people.
School gives uncovered information that children memorize, and they are not capable of using their second language after school. A native speaker is better than a teacher with a second language because they replace in some way the lack of content in that language.

I had a terrible language learning experience at school. I had to take French and Spanish but I learnt nothing and hated the classes because I thought they were a waste of time. I returned to learn both languages later as an adult when I had a genuine need and I really enjoyed the process. Now I need to pick another language to learn...
