If you are over the age of 26, you may not be able to hear the sound of a language...
Knowledge of your second language is the tricky part. I started to learn English at the age of 34, before that I do not know that I got the sound of American English at the age of 16-17, while watching American movies with soundtracks in two languages. One of them was my second Russian, the other was American English...
I was not paying attention to what was going on at that moment.

I think you can still learn to recognise the sounds as an adult, although producing natural pronunciation can be more challenging.

@@englishwithmrd When I am trying to communicate with others. I have no trouble getting them to understand my words. It is as if my brain gives my mouth the pronunciation command.
But I have two big problems. I put myself in an Irish English environment with American English in my head. Another problem is that I was speaking without the grammar of English.
For the first three years I was talking to myself instead of having a normal conversation with a person.
As for grammar, that was the biggest problem for me, but I solved it 3 months ago. It only took me 18 years to understand what was going on. The problem was that I have no base of English in my long-term memory. This means that I do not feel the English words and I have always spoken like a robot with one and the same sentence.
The Irish dialect is still my problem, but it is okay.

@@englishwithmrd I understand how the second language must work, but I don't think I have English in my head because I never studied it at school plus Irish accent.

@@englishwithmrd Yeah! I guessed. Nice accent.
I like to try to guess British accents, but it's not easy for me, I'm not so good at English.
      Cheers
