For all of those asking (or about to ask): Yes, this is in response to one of my videos getting a copyright strike, and me not being able to get an actual response from anyone. For those who weren't paying attention to the slides (I show the strike in this video), it's my Musical Autopsy of "Bitch Better Have My Money", which I've currently made available on DailyMotion (just go Google it). But let's pretend I'm not that selfish, this is also in response to the numerous channels who have had issues over the last month or two as well, including IHE and The Nostalgia Critic among others. TH-cam's copyright system is broken for everyone. Will we ever see it fixed? Probably not. There's no benefit to TH-cam/Google in that. And for those concerned that this'll result in my removal from TH-cam, you might want to consider following me on Facebook or Twitter so you'll know where I'll be broadcasting next. I'm not going anywhere, no matter how discouraging TH-cam continues to make things.
+ADoseofBuckley I saw the slide, but was unsure whether or not it was just about that given all the chaos that has happened in the past month, haha. Good video, Buckley, the Copy-Right System is unbelievably anti-consumer.
See how long this stays up before youtube takes it down. And I've been waiting for this ever since you mentioned it in your live stream on December 15th.
+Melody MelloLily They will let it stay up, but they will just make it not show up in search results; Google has done it before, and they will do it again
Just file a counterclaim. It's worth it. I had a strike sent by Viacom and counterclaimed it. If they don't respond in 14 days (they never do) the strike is removed, and the video is reinstated. Do you really think they will attempt to sue you? 1 video literally isn't worth their time. If you believe it is in protected by fair use, then just counterclaim it. Also, the video is re-instated during the 14 days that they have to respond.
This is the market we are leading into sadly. The market is going to be owned by a few major companies. Pretty soon all videos will be watched on youtube. Movies are already mainly spielberg and disney. All shit will be bought from amazon.com. All phones will be bought from apple, through amazon.com. Also Ebay. And all social media bullcorn will be done through fuckin facebook and instagram and snapchat. ANd the only streaming service will be twitch, owned by amazon. All the news stations are pretty much now owned by one fuckin company, so no matter what you are listening to, it is always fucking biased. All video games and consoles are pretty much all nintendo and sony and microsoft, with some other big ones like blizzard entertainment/activision. And we will be forced to do everything digitally and electronically and technologically. I mean, fuck the peeps like myself who absolutely suck with technology. Fuck those people. There will be no other options. Nothing oldschool when technology was mainly used to fuck around, and you had the option to make it a career. And it changes so god often, by the time short term memory becomes long term memory, they change everything, and it is like learning everything over again. The way the economy and market shares are now, it is usually like 2 or 3 big companies calling all the shots. I miss when the market share was bigger than that. But eventually, one company will be at the heart of every service that we consume in the US. I am calling it now.
Aw man, this really sucks! It seems like a lot of people have been having issues like this recently. On another note, this is a really great video. Well put together and really funny while being super informative. You've really outdone yourself this time Buckley!
I'm glad that more and more creators with an actual following are pointing this out, though I don't think youtube is going to change. I've been bumping into this problem since I started and I don't even use my channel to make money. And the worst part is, most times they don't even give you ANY real information about what rule you broke. They just send you the community guidelines for you to throw darts at. Not long ago I got a six month ban for a video that did not break any rules. When I pointed this out in their shitty form, I didn't get a response, the video was just magically unblocked a week later. This isn't how business partnerships are supposed to work.
If this shit doesn't get fixed, I think a lot of content creators are going to start looking at other video sharing sites as a serious option. I know that nobody thinks this will happen because TH-cam is so huge, but larger things than TH-cam have fallen. Certain niches have already moved to Vimeo and Daily Motion. And posting videos on Facebook has become a lot more popular as well.
+Orangelo Some have and have had their channel taken down, namely I Hate Everything attempting to move everything to Vimeo, but Vimeo deleting his account due to them thinking he's spamming.
+Orangelo At some point, there will probably be a big migration away from youtube because of how shitty it is. A lot of gaming content creators have already moved to twitch, but that's not really an option for anyone else.
This is why I've been subscribed to this channel since 3-4 years. You manage to get a totally frustrating and infuriating topic across in a very creative, professional and truly hilarious way. No matter what your youtube stats imply. I still love this channel and your work to bits.
This is exactly why I started watching Buckley in the first place: satirical comedy with some sort of (often serious) message at its core. Whether you are forced off of TH-cam or not, keep up the good work.
+Bill Nguyen The guy that responded to him didn't just fail at grammar, his "response" was also incompetent. Out of that entire thing Buckley sent, that's *ALL* he had to say? That tiny question? My God, how fucking dumb. How does this guy have a job? At Google, no less.
This is so ironic since Grade A and Tyrone are going at it for this same reason! This is awesome! Two of my favorite channels, Buckley, I know you don't take request or any of that stuff but PLEASE consider doing a video with Grade A Under A about this youtube copyright and fair use thing! You guys do the same style of videos and are both HILARIOUS! Please consider it.
This is probably my favorite video from you so far Buckley. Maybe this could actually make a change or something. I know that's a long shot, but anything can happen.
+Caitlin Kent - Kara Zor-El Dailymotion is heaps better. It just has 0 traffic. Noone's on there XD on youtube I generated up to 1.6 million views on a vid before youtube took my channel down, on dailymotion I got like...5 views. That's the only shit part about that site
Toyman Blood all major video sites are....but despite it, dailymotion has less bullshit with copyright, it has support and you can even get a personal assistant for these issues. It's not the best but still much better than YT
Then they hooked you up with a verified check mark for you're profile LOL! Their way of saying thank you for all you do for the community. Keep up the good work
I made a video about this, and its amazing how many videos are popping up recently, good to see people are noticing. Only way to change something (sometimes) is to complain logically about it.
I'll give a like for that. I'll spread this around my friends, hopefully others can spread your message too. I've been a big fan Buckley, silently watching your videos for years. You keep it real and honest and I like that. You know youtube may try and fight this because they hate criticism but don't let them. protect your rights.
*IT'S JUST AS BAD WITH SOUNDCLOUD.* they took down my track, but i didn't break ANY copyright rules. if you want to dispute it, you have to let your accuser see ALL OF YOUR DATA INCLUDING ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER,ETC. AND YOU CAN'T DISPUTE THE DISPUTE FORM I'M SO MAD GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
I love how this video is so funny, yet you're still able to get the serious issue across. Personally I haven't had much issues with youtube. They ACTUALLY helped me out when I sent a message about a legal issue I was trying to resolve with a screenshot of the incompetence of the built-in functions that are supposed to help. The problem was then quickly resolved. This was about a month ago. I do believe that the youtube staff are incompetent assholes when it comes to big sums of money though. It's unfair, but that's how all companies work. Just keep pressing the issue.
Was one of your videos taken down? If so I love this response Ok I'm stupid and commented before watching the whole video. I'd remove the comment but I'll leave it here so people can call me stupid
of course he posted this after one of his Musical Autopsies got taken down. Gosh damn you're a moron. I wonder what happened to his April Fool's Dochbags of the Internet video he did last year?
+BreatheWithMe Guy yelling nonsense + random bleeps and bloops + various other loud noises = Death Grips. And yet it still works every time. Can't wait to hear the whole album.
This guy is one of the few people on youtube who make good quality videos. Another one is me making videos of me smelling things. You're welcome internet
The reason that TH-cam isn't helping creators against RIAA members is because if they did, they could be sued into oblivion. When TH-cam receives a takedown notice, no matter how spurious, they must remove videos. You should file a counter-notice, the chance of you getting sued is basically non-existent. The video should be put back up in 10-14 days.
I once had someone file a copyright notice on one of my videos a long time ago, claiming I was infringing on something audio related. It was video footage of me walking around surveying the damage to my neighborhood after a hurricane.
Every great channel should do this: 1. Change the plattform. 2. Tell everyone about it. 3. Upload litereall nothing on the servers. Like 10 hours of a black screen. 4. Feel good again.
Funny, I had a video flagged for music that I paid for royalty free. Sweet I thought I can use this where ever, nope! Got it reported by a person who remixed the track I used, something that was explicitly banned from the use of the tracks from the supplying website. Woo!
This is one of the major reasons why it is harder for Reviewers out there on TH-cam to maintain their channels and content. They have to always worry about this sort of thing possibly lurking behind every video uploaded.
I totally agree with this video. I've uploaded plenty of videos of live performances from gigs I've been to last year, but there were two that were blocked worldwide for copyright reasons, even though they were no different to any other gig video I've uploaded previously. I filed disputes for both of them saying the same things and after weeks of waiting for the outcome, one of my videos says 'blocked in some countries' (Germany being the only country it's blocked in which is well random as I live in the UK) and the other video's dispute was rejected and says 'blocked worldwide'. what a joke.
In November, I uploaded a video of a mashup of The Hills and Disturbia. I was told and read in the Audio Library that the song was unavailable for use, so I removed it with free use audio using TH-cam's audio replacement system. A few days after, I got a strike from IFPI/UMG who "manually detected" The Hills audio in the video. My friend had emailed them a few days earlier about an incorrect claim on one of his videos (they claimed he used a song that had yet to be released/leaked) and got his strike removed, so I tried. I spent a few weeks at it with only two or three responses. I clearly included the link in my original email, they respond asking for the link, then later what audio did I claim to actually use. After that, they stopped replying. I emailed them again (not in that thread, in a new email), and they responded that they couldn't remove strikes and only TH-cam could (a lie). I emailed TH-cam and have yet to get a response. So currently, I have a strike for manually detected audio that was not in my video, and TH-cam doesn't seem to care.
Napoleon Mate a server is not free and video files are large, and revenue is so small that you would essentially be working without any salary for a few years to just get the infrastructure done... maybe a kickstarter could work but I don't have the knowhow to make a video hosting service on my own.
+Yo mama It's been ranted about by plenty of people already. He has better things to do than add another video to the library of people hating on a decision that has already been reversed.
Did the taking down of "I Hate Everything"s channel prompt you to make this video, or is it coincidental timing? I am guessing the former, as that was a massive, massive fuck-up by TH-cam, but I could see this video being made regardless, as the system has been broken for years, haha. As a side-note, TH-cam is simply going to make it so this video does not show up in searches, as they have a track record of doing so.
Fuck... Good thing you don't monetize your videos. I couldn't imagine trying to make a living off youtube with such a broken system. It would be like playing Frogger in real life every single day on your way to work, only rather than kill you, you just get fired if you get hit.
Dosent make any sense why he dosent you can say for the fans blah blah but no one really cares or will notice plus he'd make a good amount more doing this and not having ads have no real logic in any business way
Between the wrong copyright claims and trademarking normal words on TH-cam, the crappy algorithm on Twitter, and the constant video stealing on Facebook, I feel like all the huge social media sites wanted to retire and the only way they felt they could do it was to destroy all the fans and supporters they could with constant unwanted and unfixed BS. The internet is looking REALLY bad right now.
Just tweeted Fred Von Lohmann (youtube copyright guy) that you mentioned in this video, this video. everyone else should do the same. *maybe* something will get done..I doubt it, but at the very least annoy the fuck outta the guy his twitter is @flohmann
A teacher friend of mine quit her job to work for Google, they headhunted her because of her location and math background. She was very talented with subsets and coding. She quit her Google job exactly one year from her hire date, because it was the end of her employment contract. Google even tried putting out a movie with the Wedding Crashers to soften their image. They are like the Disney of Silicon Valley, sweat shop style working conditions, vague modes of support, echelon based mgmt. system, and low pay with promises of more in the employment contracts they offer. Nike, Disney, Sony, McDonalds, and other companies don't get this big by 'helping' people or their employees.
I've been hit with a Copyright Notice myself, Orchard Music's claiming one of my vids uses audio that belongs to a band under them. The thing is though, they DO NOT own it. My vid was uploaded in '14, theirs in '15. Plus, they couldn't have created that audio, cause it's also been used on a video from 2009 and the band who uploaded that vid from 2015 formed in '13. Another big issue is that I can't tell who really owns said audio. I made my vid private, but may need to delete it later on.
I am working on a master's degree in Industrial and Organizational psychology. We are currently discussing companies that are no longer aligned with their original purpose in a class. I used youTube as an example and mentioned the copyright issues. I might share this video with my class mates.
Soundcloud is the same. A song of mine that I entered in a remix competition got removed by the company who owned the original song's rights, even though two years ago they provided all the samples to remix the song.
That reminds me about my video. It was an educational video for the national history day contest as a part of a website. It was set to only accessible by URL and not listed on anything. I used the soundtrack from a game and assumed that there was no copyright on that music because there are videos of that music on multiple channels. Guess what? A random company hits me with a copyright strike and cites the song that I "stole". I listened to the song and it didn't resemble what I used in any shape or form. I feel like they are maliciously abusing the system to profit from videos. As soon as I challenge it, they immediately withdraw the claim.
Yep.

+ADoseofBuckley 4:58 Good to know even idiots can earn a job at Google! smh
+ADoseofBuckley It has been removed from Dailymotion as well. Copyright claimed.
yeah it's getting out of hand there is no alternative to TH-cam with remotely the same viewer count
Favorite video on TH-cam to date.
Holy shit, what are you doing here?
well, this is one comment i never thought i'd see

Oh God, not THAT laugh again!
+Retrah
Flowey
+Ouroboros I'm sure he was actually talking about the laugh Buckley did in his video about the 3 biggest rip-offs in video games.
Forced laughter is like nails on a chalkboard.
+Retrah it sounds like the joker
+Retrah IKR!! IT FREAKS ME OUT O_O""
i love the passive aggressiveness. that's definitely a dose of Buckley video
MrJewripper change your channel name
Really wish you had a Patreon, Buckley.
+Mike Miller Bandcamp works pretty much the same.
If you want to support him just buy his other content. You support him and get something in return. Keep up the great content Buckley!
+ADoseofBuckley just bought some old stuff of Yours for 5 canadian $, I think I already bought it before but fuck it, buy Yourself a beer :D
+HeavyMetalFan1999 Unrelated, but awesome profile pic dude. Rush kicks ass.
+AA kaine The video got removed, I'm not sure if he got a strike but I wouldn't doubt it.
See how long this stays up before youtube takes it down. And I've been waiting for this ever since you mentioned it in your live stream on December 15th.
And on a side note, first person to post with an actual comment.
Fuck google

+Melody MelloLily "With an actual comment" oh of course because only you're comments are actual!

If only TH-cam had a real major competitor. That's about the only way TH-cam would ever go about fixing all of the shit that needs to get fixed

This is it people, the Buckely Chuckle. Not until this day has it been discovered. I see both a chaotic, yet bright future ahead of us.
This is exactly why I started watching Buckley in the first place: satirical comedy with some sort of (often serious) message at its core. Whether you are forced off of TH-cam or not, keep up the good work.
Hm, three dislikes at the moment; perhaps the TH-cam staff really is watching and that's their way of communicating with uploaders?
15. They also teamed up with their wives and children to do so
Now they're at 75 and increasing, I think the employees have been told to help the staff as well.
I didn't expect an upload this late! Good thing I was planning on staying up until 4am watching phan edit videos.
Hahahaha 250 characters is laughable! Also, the person who sent the response email definitely did not fail English because that's unpossible XD
+Bill Nguyen ha
+Bill Nguyen reminds me of newvegas. Unpossible!
+Bill Nguyen The guy that responded to him didn't just fail at grammar, his "response" was also incompetent. Out of that entire thing Buckley sent, that's *ALL* he had to say? That tiny question?

+X-Maverick i wonder if Google outsourced its people to China, like every other corporation?....
Watching this cheered me up after just recently losing my channel to bullshit copyright strikes. Thanks for making this, Buckley. 😊
This reminds me too much of GradeAUnderA with a Canadian Accent
Except that Buckley had been making videos years before him.
Except Buckley isn't a douche.
+ClemMedia except Buckley has been around years longer, so if anything, Grade reminds you of a English Buckley
+Jeremy Stuut haha are you fucking joking?
+Brayth it depends on who they discovered first
This is one of the best ways to vent about an issue with a strike, informative, funny, and well presented, well done.
2016 was a wild ride
Got here early enough before TH-cam takes it down, or blocks it.
'Is this for a story your working on?'
Now if that's not fine customer service, I don't know what is.
The Sarcasm is strong with this one.
This is probably my favorite video from you so far Buckley. Maybe this could actually make a change or something. I know that's a long shot, but anything can happen.

yep, you can get full unedited movies on it
+Caitlin Kent - Kara Zor-El Dailymotion is heaps better. It just has 0 traffic. Noone's on there XD on youtube I generated up to 1.6 million views on a vid before youtube took my channel down, on dailymotion I got like...5 views. That's the only shit part about that site

This is the best one I've seen so far about this issue... which is quite sad, the fact that there have been so many videos about this lately I mean.
Excellent, as always!
I've seen you hit the nail on the head before, but this is something else.
this really why Buckley is fantastic. he nails every damn video.
I made a video about this, and its amazing how many videos are popping up recently, good to see people are noticing. Only way to change something (sometimes) is to complain logically about it.
4:13 These laughs work their way into my dreams.
Hey youtube, dont you guys have phones?
Is this an out of season april fools joke?
TH-cam: ummmm noo..
The worst thing is, I can find literally any song I want on TH-cam and they're fine but a review is not?
I'll give a like for that. I'll spread this around my friends, hopefully others can spread your message too. I've been a big fan Buckley, silently watching your videos for years. i made a video ranting about this a week ago :) nice to see more bigger youtubers are seeing this pattern with youtube!
TH-cam is like Baseball. 3 strikes and you're out!
I love how this video is so funny, yet you're still able to get the serious issue across.
Personally I haven't had much issues with youtube. I do believe that the youtube staff are incompetent assholes when it comes to big sums of money though. It's unfair, but that's how all companies work. Just keep pressing the issue.
Liked this before watching just in case TH-cam immediately pulls this
Best part about this video is that it has nothing to copyright claim. If this video goes down, it proves your point.
Wow, Petey sounds a lot like Buckley
Nailed it. Hit it out of the park again. Definitely in your top 1% videos.
Be careful, this video might get taken down from a copyright claim.
Buckley's laugh = never fails to terrify.
Was one of your videos taken down? If so I love this response

Every great channel should do this:
#FixItTH-cam Maybe we could start tweeting about it with this hashtag? I'll share it as much as i can!
I totally agree with this video. I've uploaded plenty of videos of live performances from gigs I've been to last year, but there were two that were blocked worldwide for copyright reasons, even though they were no different to any other gig video I've uploaded previously. I filed disputes for both of them saying the same things and after weeks of waiting for the outcome, one of my videos says 'blocked in some countries' (Germany being the only country it's blocked in which is well random as I live in the UK) and the other video's dispute was rejected and says 'blocked worldwide'. what a joke.
thank you notifications
Really wish I had a few million just laying around so I could make my own video sharing website
If you had the time and the patience you could do it without much money lmao
Napoleon Mate a server is not free and video files are large, and revenue is so small that you would essentially be working without any salary for a few years to just get the infrastructure done... maybe a kickstarter could work but I don't have the knowhow to make a video hosting service on my own.
Glad I got to watch this video before it gets taken down!
I wish he would rant about The Fine Bros and their React World idea. What do you guys think?
+SkyJin24 Nope. Still recent.
+Alexandra Kifer (Pussy_Cat_For_CC) True, but I just want to know if which side he chooses.
+Yo mama But you know Buckley doesn't give a shit.
+Yo mama
It's been ranted about by plenty of people already. He has better things to do than add another video to the library of people hating on a decision that has already been reversed.
This sarcasm absolutely killed me. 💀 especially at the last part.
inb4 TH-cam gets triggered
This message has my full support
Did the taking down of "I Hate Everything"s channel prompt you to make this video, or is it coincidental timing? I am guessing the former, as that was a massive, massive fuck-up by TH-cam, but I could see this video being made regardless, as the system has been broken for years, haha.
As a side-note, TH-cam is simply going to make it so this video does not show up in searches, as they have a track record of doing so.
+Alejandro Domeño Might've been because of TheFineBros being huge cocks with the system.
+Zachary Jones Possibly that, or the recent taking down of Buckley's "Bitch Better Have My Money" Musical Autopsy.
He got one of his videos copyrighted as he mentions in the video
Totally agree with you. I dismissed several copyright claims from WB after I threatened with legal action
Fuck... Good thing you don't monetize your videos. I couldn't imagine trying to make a living off youtube with such a broken system. It would be like playing Frogger in real life every single day on your way to work, only rather than kill you, you just get fired if you get hit.
This is just another reason why people upload nothing but lets play gaming videos.
+Zachary Jones it crossed my mind that because he's not monetizing, thus not bringing yt any profit, they might be so reluctant in solving this...
Well now Buckley, I think ....
/Error.Error..This comment has been removed due to thought crime...\
Buckley, I have to say, that's one of your best videos.
Buckley, this is why we subscribe to you, brilliant satire.
If youtube had a proper competitor I would have switched years ago.
Going to share this on Twitter and encourage people to re-tweet it. This bull-shit needs to fucking stop.
Add some creepy music at 4:14, and that would sound like a fully legitimate Joker laugh.
I laughed too hard. The your and you're killed me.
damn Buckley went off!! I've other of my favorite youtubers rant about this copyright issue and its really just ridiculous
I am working on a master's degree in Industrial and Organizational psychology. We are currently discussing companies that are no longer aligned with their original purpose in a class. I used youTube as an example and mentioned the copyright issues. I might share this video with my class mates.
Soundcloud is the same. A song of mine that I entered in a remix competition got removed by the company who owned the original song's rights, even though two years ago they provided all the samples to remix the song.
lol the super serious white text fading in on black at the end.
This video needs to be everywhere.
I think this was your funniest video in a while. Good job
First time watching a Buckley video within an hour of it being uploaded/published. HOORAY!!!! LOL
Repeatedly taps/clicks "like" button, breaks phone screen. TH-cam still not paying attention.
This video is pure gold
That reminds me about my video. It was an educational video for the national history day contest as a part of a website. It was set to only accessible by URL and not listed on anything. I used the soundtrack from a game and assumed that there was no copyright on that music because there are videos of that music on multiple channels. Guess what? A random company hits me with a copyright strike and cites the song that I "stole". I listened to the song and it didn't resemble what I used in any shape or form. I feel like they are maliciously abusing the system to profit from videos. As soon as I challenge it, they immediately withdraw the claim.
