May be in US delaying pleasure leads to something different. In Russia it is well known that "everything will be good, I just have to endure a little more" leads to a life of suffering and gratification never comes.

I did not hear about Dave Ramsey until I was in my 60's, but my wife and I did most of what he teaches for many years. Live below your means, pay off debt, save an emergency fund, buy a house, save for retirement, make investments. Pretty much everything he teaches is right.
But at a deeper level, it's simpler than that. Be content with what you have. Don't envy your friends or neighbors for the things they have but you don't. More possessions won't make you happy, but a good relationship with God and with your loved ones will. Yes, be prudent with your money, save, invest carefully, but mostly it's trust in God. God has taken me from poverty to wealth, and he has added no sorrow to it. If you asked me exactly how I got here, I could not tell you, except it was bit by bit, and it was God who did it. God is my financial planner. If he can create a universe, he can watch over his servant.

One big thing that sucks people down is that we tend to overspend "for our kids". We take them to every after school activity under the sun because all the neighbours are all our friends with kids are. We buy nicer cars than we need because we want the bells and whistles and the nicer family cars cost more than double the entry level models. I would argue we also get bigger/nicer homes than we need but housing tends to appreciate and provide good returns so that's not necessarily a bad investment. Personally I'd rather rent the cheapest thing my family can put up with and invest my surplus funds on something with either higher yield or higher expected capital gain.

Train an AI model on Dave's voice, then train a large language AI model on every single thing Dave has ever said, and then combine them and have the AI take calls. The Ramsey personalities are parrots anyway, may as well just have Dave at the wheel for everything.

So Dave, when are you going to become skinny and rich? If you make being skinny AKA being more healthy a priority, then it will happen but it's not your priority.
Why don't you make it your priority?
You can eat the same amount and maintain your weight whether you are 230 pounds or 170 pounds. Make it a priority push away from the table for a few months.
