  • Reviewing this army box by Warlord Games and Wargames Factory I bought several months ago and has been on my backlog. Overall verdict: very nice miniatures and a great deal at $135.
Plan on doing an informational video soon about the Habsburg Monarchy's army c.1683-1720 soon as well.

Thanks for the review. Looks like a really good value box of goodies, and nice figures. I particularly like the look of the the cannons.

Yes, the value in the set is really nice. I'll keep doing updates on the channel as I work through the box

I like this genreic style of miniatures. I only think its funny that they offer seperate Infantry boxes but only one starter army. I think i will get one and either paint them as swedish or russian

Thanks for watching Mediox. I think the difference in the individual boxes is what flags they include, the starter army comes with both. Hopefully I can do more videos on this topic in the future as well.

The individual infantry boxed set comes with 24 figures, the starter army boxed set comes with 96 infantry figures (which would make four 24 -man infantry units); one 12-man cavalry unit and three artillery pieces with crew. @@Corvinuswargaming1444

I'm currently using these figures for Great Northern War (1700-21) and the Scania War (1675-79). For the GNW I use the tricorne hats and for the Scania War I use the wide-brimmed hats. Since these figures are hard plastic I've easily modified them to make 8 different poses, including pikemen.

Useful stuff. Funny all nations had the same basic uniform. Just different colours.

GW do a ‘white’ contrast paint which might work on the white undercoated figures for Austrians. A grey wash might also help.

Thanks for the tips. I had not thought of using GW white contrast paint. Grey wash is a good option as well.

Great stuff, I have painted up a couple of Army boxes myself. I havent painted any of them white yet (doing British and French) but do have some Nap Austrians...I paint in very light grey, dip and then highlight white. check my vids if you need an example. good work, look forward to more vids.

Thanks for watching Scotty. I have painted some of them and posted them up on the channel but it is very time consuming compared to my other miniatures

@@Corvinuswargaming1444 nice one. What I do to speed things up is paint the whole figure whatever the jacket colour is. I usually use army painter dip after painted and a little bit of highlights

That sounds like a good technique. I'm thinking of getting an airbrush as well once I can afford it and have the space, seems like it would work well for doing these black powder era uniforms among other stuff

@@Corvinuswargaming1444 yep I have thought about getting one as well..I use ebor miniatures for my command figures, lovely casts and mix well together being slim figures

After carefully cleaning all the mold lines (actually there aren't many on these figures), I (1) prime them a matte black; (2) over spray with matte white from above (this creates self-shading) and (3) brush a coat of Sepia ink over the entire figure; (4) paint the figure; (5) brush on a coat of MinWax Antique Walnut Polyshades and (6) spray with Testor's Dullcote after allowing it to dry for 8-12 hours.
