    Thanks for the comments, I’ll make a review video that includes spoilers. My thoughts will be more organized too, apologies for the scattered thoughts in this video.
    7:15 - What I said here doesn’t make sense, my bad. This is what happens when I ramble. Not every Godzilla movie is trying to evoke the same emotions, so I can’t compare them in that regard. I’ll address this in my next video.

      I don't think late 80's/early 90's Godzilla was necessarily meant to be scary, but he was cool looking and the films were more serious.
      It was a nice change from all thw goofy designs and silly plots of 60's/70's.

    One reason I wanted Godzilla to return to a smaller size was because then he can differentiate Individual humans and target them like some of the past movies. I wondered how the Titans in the Monsterverse like Kong even see the characters when they must appear like insects. Hyper vision?

    • @Godzilla-tu2cd
      @Godzilla-tu2cd 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +40

      You gotta have Godzilla fit in with modern buildings which the time period is set in. If it's set in the past he'll have to be as big as those buildings. If it's set in modern day same thing

    • @danieldickerson4838
      @danieldickerson4838 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +23

      I mean, you could ask the same question about Heisei Godzilla, who grew to 100 meters, and Final Wars Godzilla, who was 100 meters, and Shin Godzilla, who was 118 meters, etc. It honestly doesn’t really matter when these are giant monsters we’re dealing with. Plus, as the other commenter mentioned, Godzilla’s size is partly dictated by the size of the structures he’s around; a 50 meter tall version like in Minus One would be absolutely dwarfed by modern skyscrapers. It’s never really been about how he interacts with humans.
      That said, I am glad that, due to the time period in Minus One, we’re seeing a comparatively smaller Godzilla this time.

    You can't tell the story of Godzilla without telling the story of the humans whose life he impacts. Otherwise it's just a nature documentary about a giant lizard stomping around the countryside, pissed off about who knows what. Havent seen the movie, but I really like the idea that G is pure destruction in this movie. My favorite incarnation of Godzilla is from GMK, because similar to how you say you care about the people in Minus 1, I cared about the Guardian Monsters in GMK. And to see him mercilessly and effortlessly kill them made 10 year old me go "they actually need to stop him this time"

    • @TheBrownestFalcon
      @TheBrownestFalcon 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Yea, the humans and Guardian Monsters in GMK make it all the more painful when GMK Godzilla brutally kills them. The fights are not portrayed as glorious, just brutal in a way that makes it not fun to watch (which is noted by the chopper crew filming the Baragon fight), which is what we're used to in Godzilla movies.
      I used to hate GMK Godzilla as a kid as a result, but now it's one of my favorite incarnations and one of, if not my favorite overall Godzilla movie and one I'd show to non-kaiju fans because it's also genuinely a good movie (and not just a good Godzilla movie).

Whenever I see people posting “give us a movie with all Godzilla scenes, we don’t care about the human scenes” I think to myself: that would get tedious pretty quick. It’s like saying “dinner at that restaurant was pretty good, but the dessert was my favorite part - next time I eat there, give me a meal that is only desserts.” You need balance in order for special moments to shine. But it sounds like this movie might play into one of my biggest fears, just the idea of a malevolent giant creature seeing me and wanting me dead. That scene in "Godzilla Returns" when the homeless man was running from Godzilla and the shot is angled so it looks like Godzilla specifically looks down at him still freaks me out to this day.

    I saw it in Kyoto, i have a Japanese step family so I'm alright with understanding Japanese, still learning but i wasn't lost during the plot. Hands down the best film since 1954. It really is a oath to the Japanese and what they went through to rebuild their country

    i LOVE this godzilla's face... he is super expressive. the 'whisker pads' really enhance the snarl, and the bright eyes make the furious gaze so piercing!

    Yes, it does a much better job of using its human characters for sure. The 2014 US one had a great one with Bryan Cranston, and they kill off him rather early in the movie

    I went to see this movie just the other day, and I didn't think Godzilla would be so scary that I would cry,
    As a long time Godzilla fan, the movie perfectly captured the fear of Godzilla that I was looking for in a Godzilla movie, far more than I could have ever imagined.
    It was as if Godzilla, in all his destructive glory, was right in front of me.
    It was really, really scary. I had heart palpitations and was about to cry.
    Even if you're not a Godzilla fan, this movie is worth seeing!
    I mean, everyone should see it in a big screen movie theater!
    Definitely the best Godzilla movie of all time!
    From Japan

    Bill I would like to know one minor spoiler, if you don't mind. Are all the warships in this movie Japanese, or do we see any kind of American involvement? Near as I can recall the only battleship Japan still had at war's end that was intact, was Nagato. Does this movie follow history in that regard or does it take extreme liberties with remaining Japanese military elements?

    As an American that’ll never forget the comments made by the Japanese die hards about our 2014 movie (namely that he looked fat and not scary and that CGI was a mistake)…. The mere production of this movie is just such a compliment to the 2014 film. LOL they went and copied off of the best homework that’s ever been done, it’s flattering really.
