Thanks so much for all that you guys do! The timing for this could not be better! I'd be cool to get animation tutorials for how to animate like certain iconic animation like dragon ball z or SpongeBob in krita as well (on the short side of course)
Just wanted to share a little tip regarding the audio part. I don't know if it was just me, but krita sometimes doesn't take mp3 , so in that case you need to convert your audio file into a WAV file. That's gonna make it work for sure [=
Tip: The HOLD FRAMES option in the right click menu allows you to choose how long to hold a frame/frames. Say you drew in 1s and want to switch to 2s, you select the frames you want to extend or space out, select the "insert multiple hold frames" option and type in number of frames to hold (in this case 2) then all the frames you selected with skip the number of frames specified :). Instead of spacing each frame individually you can do it in one go.
Thanks, this was super helpful! I've always found animating on Krita really intimidating and difficult, but after watching this video and following along, it's starting to get easier!
Thank you! Finally- I was so confused with the Krita Animation UI and process. It was like a culture shock as I used to animate with Photoshop. But I love Krita coz it's free. Cheers!
Could you please update this? There have been several changes to how Krita handles the onion wrapper and the frames. That made it difficult to follow this exactly.
I'm in the process of migrating to Krita from Photoshop (for budget reasons), and this video was super helpful. Thanks for the concise and informative tutorial!
I've grabbed Krita a few times (and again, recently) for the purpose of animating, since I'd heard from others that it was one of the best options art software had to offer; I never could figure out how to get it to work though, so this video is a massive help! Thank you for sharing, Winged Canvas!-
I'm just new to digital art and animation and I found krita really interesting. And I'm thankful that you explained the animation really well since I plan to practice basic animation in krita.
Thank you for this ! Right to the point! For my ADHD mind you have the best voice for teaching and comprehension as well as the proper pacing for me to grab onto what I am learning. Thank you for being a great teacher !!!
You have NO idea helpful this video is. How to set up the animation is superrrrrrrr hard to find a good guide on. This video explains it sooo well and actual takes you thru each part. THANK YOU
Love this. Tried animation paper first, and it was really simple and straight forward but I missed having the tools and controls that I had in Krita for creating still images. So happy to see that it works so well for animation too
this right here is what ive been looking for i have ADHD and having someone actually explain and show me were stuff is to help me understand how this program works and were to got is a life saver thank u so much for this video cause the books about this doesn't give step by step info on were to go or were things are in this program that were hard to understand were they are and how to us them and were they were thanks for making this video now i can final start animating now and actually get good at it
I used to use Krita for animation, but I stopped at the end of 2020 because the audio tool they had for animating was glitchy. I now just use Photoshop to draw frames and import those frames into a video editor to put together.
This was incredibly helpful! I'm always having a hard time when it comes to learning about new programs and stuff and this video took a lot of my anxiety and made it feel way less overwhelming than I expected :D so thanks a lot!
Some changes to our highschool Adobe subscription has been put in place and some apps require teacher permission/confirmation to be used so for a while I couldn't use Adobe animate anymore because I wasn't bothered to do that. This helps a lot with my animations. Thanks 👍
Thank you!!! I've done some small animations in Opentoonz but I missed so many of the drawing features from krita, like color modes etc. Don't know why I didn't look into animating with krita sooner but this is amazing. Great tutorial! You showed everything I needed to get started quickly in a very succinct way.👏👏
Thank you for changing my life sweetheart! Animation is so daunting to me, even on krita! Been using the software since 2018 I believe. Much needed video! Continue making more you're a good teacher! Good luck ❤
I don't have words to describe how you helped me, I've searched 100 tutorials and your vídeo is the only one I understood! Really, thank you so much 🤩😍👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
this was so helpful i have always wanted to do animation on my laptop, i draw on krita but every animation tutorial was just complicated or apps with money. Thank you so much for this video!
i watched this video :) ty for creating it!! you're the best! for a beginning project i made a stick figure running threw a little city lol have to start some where, im quite impressed with the program too the more i learn about it and use the different brushes and features Krita has been super fun to use. keep up the good work!
i stopped using windows few years ago, and i find it cute that they brought back a default video editing software, last time it was called windows movie maker, i used to use it in windows XP ( :p )
Seriously thank u so much for this. The autoframe part especially, saved me. Whenever I did a new frame and drew on it, whether i merged layers or not, it would show up on my previous frames and i didnt know what to even do about it. I think this just saved me the trouble finally, bc I experimented with turning on autoframe after running into the issue and I haven't seen the issue come up yet after. You absolute legend
i want to give you a BIG thanks for this tutorial beacause i wanted to start animating so i downloaded krita but it looked compliceted for my tiny 11 year old brain so this tutorial was really helpful really thank you so much for this tut im definatly subscribing!
DPI will not influence any performance when you specify your image size in pixels. It is only used to calculate the number of pixels when you specify your dimensions in inches or centimeters. And it would be used to know how dense to print the pixels on paper. But since your computer works with pixels, this does not affect anything internally.
Watching this made me remember how difficult it is to follow tutorials. Pausing and going back over and over and over. At the beginning I thought the product would look like a child's attempt. Pretty good result though.

smd lol this is why youtube sucks, saturated with garbage. who the FFuk uses a mouse to animate????
thx
you rock!
Hey terrific video, what can we do if the create video option is not shown in the options bar?
WAIT- YOU CAN ADD AUDIO?! I- I'VE NEEDED THAT FOR SO LONG AND IT'S BEEN RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME THE WHOLE TIME😭
Sometimes it doesn’t like MP3 files so I think WAV or something is better? I’d Google it to be sure though since it was a year ago I had that issue.
