They did they same back in season 7 / October Patch he was pretty solid (this was before hog got his rework) then out of nowhere they nerfed his stun on his reg punch (250ms - 150ms) and enpowered punch (750ms - 600ms) which may not seem like much but It has got me killed so many times / denied me more kills than i can imagine

my input has always been move the power from empowered punch to literally anything else. slam could use it, shotgun could use it, literally would rather see a change put anywhere else and it would benefit doom in a much more positive way. since they dont want to do that, i dont feel passion to play the hero and hazard looks far more interesting to me.

Nerfing his escapability whilst making another ability easier to hit lowers the skill expression and overall performance for great players. Great players will hit the right angle anyways

This is a bit off topic but isn't it weird how they kept the b-hop on Hazard's leap? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for keeping tech that improves skill ceiling (that's why I started playing doom) but the favouritism is blatant. I'd understand the leap keeping some momentum after hitting the ground but the move still being active means he can slash afterwards when they specificly removed slam still being active after the b-hop for a late/extendend slam. I've seen some comments say slam still has a b-hop but having to cancle it to slightly preserve momentum barely counts.
It's obvious that team 4 doesn't play It's own game, in their parallel universe Doom is terrifying and Pharah is unkillable, while Juno and Brig is balanced and good, also buffing the dps passive was the laziest way to push non burst dps pickrate, I don't know what they're doing with this game.
I fell in love with the game again during the stale 2 shield stunwatch meta when I decided to give Doomfist a try. And they keep chipping off that little fun and skill expression that made Overwatch my daily game of choice. I haven't played ranked for a while because they keep messing up optimization. And I haven't touched the game altogether in hopes that season 14 will bring some long due improvements. And we get a damn 33% range nerf for no reason (plus, horse and Soj buffs on top of that). So, guess what, I have a blast playing Indiana Jones, STALKER 2, and many more other games, and seriously consider sticking to it. The profound incompetence of Team 4 makes the game not worth investing my time and resources anymore. I'm not only talking about them taking a piss at Doomfist players. Poor optimization, visual clutter, unstable servers, broken MMR system, heroes without identity, boring ah gameplay loops, incompetent balancing, punishing skill expression, bugs they keep ignoring for damn years, and many lies and broken promises.
i love when i try to 1vs1 a moira, and she throws her healing orb to her, and when i am struggling to hit headshots at her to do almost no damage to her as a genji, she is just draining my health and getting healed by the orb and by her lifessteal. like in this games, characteres with low skill ceiling and literally counters of the characetes with high skill ceiling...
Yep this is exactly what makes Overwatch feel like absolute shit to play. Only thing missing is playing as Genji, dashing on Zen to get into the only range you can consistently hit right clicks just to get 360 spinbot kicked and flung back on zero cooldown and with increased damage that conveniently makes you fly in a predictable arc to make it real nice and easy to shit on you for locking in Genji ever. The balance devs for this game are just horrible and they must be gold/plat tops and wanting their easymode heroes to work 100% of the time against heroes that take 5x the effort to get anywhere close to the same value. 👍
Agree with what you said, just revert the nerf and leave the hero alone, cant remember the time when doom got a buff and then didnt get some compensation nerf to different part of his kit because his wr skyrocketed by 0,1%
i feel as they made the nerf in a weird way as more often than not you are using the slam to run/escape fights not using it for more health which doesn’t make sense when you actually play the character

the angle buff makes it easier to do damage without paying attention. angle buff is a lazy fix to the shit geometries that result in sliders when they shouldn’t. which means they nerfed slam for nothing. doom is a close range hero so nerfing slam range is fine with me since it raises his required skill level, but nerfing cooldown for slam was stupid, that’s a key part in skill expression, it’s needed to dodge the ungodly amount of unskilled bs, and it’s harder to move into the enemy without it

Wanted to play Genji, but he gets so little value I went Reaper. I still want to feel challenged, but the devs keep pushing heroes like Orisa and Mauga into the meta, it just feels unworthy to get better.
Lets be honest it's because doomfist is black. I play valorant and phenix is so bad no buff works for him and asstra was one of the best agents in the game then they neutered her into the ground. Then they took the best moves from Astra and zphenoix's kit and gave it to Clove. They will never give us another manly black character like doom and will forever nerf him to stop him from being meta. Overwatch will get a human with a dog head before they give us another black guy.

before hazard I had to deal with doom literally every game in plat, and he was insanely good. I didn't want to play doom even if he is good. Once he got nerfed and once hazard was released there's been a lot less doom to deal with and its made me a lot happier in my games.
I do get the anger about a slight buff followed by a nerft, but being completely honest 18m slam is kind of ridiculous, you can hit everyone in the whole capture point and even further away. The cooldown nerf was unnucesary and maybe the nerft to hte slam could have been compensated with another buff since doom is not in the best spot though.
I started playing rivals because it’s new and was waiting for the next season of ow once I read the nerfs for doom one slam in the practice range could be enough to stop one tricking him

yah that meme clip i made is over a year old and i believe s76 was a bit overtuned at the time when they gave him some buffs but s76 is generally the most fair hitscan and i believe hes bad now. i dont think he needs buffs at all but the whole game needs nerfs

I think the wearing off empowered trading off could be interesting in exchange for the buff but I think a resource would be broken, interesting idea.
Just nerf empowered punch’s dmg by like 30 and it’s hitbox aswell and buff his slam like u said and the ult as well

If they're going to keep these slam nerfs in the game then they need to make his slam deal 60 dmg maybe even 65 cause 50 dmg after s9 is basically cosmetic at this point.If they want you to be closer putting yourself more at risk and also make the slam cd longer then the dmg buff justifies that by rewarding the "High Risk High Reward" Character

This is a bit off topic but isn't it weird how they kept the b-hop on Hazard's leap? Don't get me wrong, I'm all for keeping tech that improves skill ceiling (that's why I started playing doom) but the favouritism is blatant. I'd understand the leap keeping some momentum after hitting the ground but the move still being active means he can slash afterwards when they specificly removed slam still being active after the b-hop for a late/extendend slam. I've seen some comments say slam still has a b-hop but having to cancle it to slightly preserve momentum barely counts.
It's obvious that team 4 doesn't play It's own game, in their parallel universe Doom is terrifying and Pharah is unkillable, while Juno and Brig is balanced and good, also buffing the dps passive was the laziest way to push non burst dps pickrate, I don't know what they're doing with this game.
I fell in love with the game again during the stale 2 shield stunwatch meta when I decided to give Doomfist a try.
And they keep chipping off that little fun and skill expression that made Overwatch my daily game of choice. I haven't played ranked for a while because they keep messing up optimization. And I haven't touched the game altogether in hopes that season 14 will bring some long due improvements. And we get a damn 33% range nerf for no reason (plus, horse and Soj buffs on top of that).
So, guess what, I have a blast playing Indiana Jones, STALKER 2, and many more other games, and seriously consider sticking to it.
The profound incompetence of Team 4 makes the game not worth investing my time and resources anymore. I'm not only talking about them taking a piss at Doomfist players. Poor optimization, visual clutter, unstable servers, broken MMR system, heroes without identity, boring ah gameplay loops, incompetent balancing, punishing skill expression, bugs they keep ignoring for damn years, and many lies and broken promises.

i love when i try to 1vs1 a moira, and she throws her healing orb to her, and when i am struggling to hit headshots at her to do almost no damage to her as a genji, she is just draining my health and getting healed by the orb and by her lifessteal. like in this games, characteres with low skill ceiling and literally counters of the characetes with high skill ceiling...
Yep this is exactly what makes Overwatch feel like absolute shit to play.
Only thing missing is playing as Genji, dashing on Zen to get into the only range you can consistently hit right clicks just to get 360 spinbot kicked and flung back on zero cooldown and with increased damage that conveniently makes you fly in a predictable arc to make it real nice and easy to shit on you for locking in Genji ever.
The balance devs for this game are just horrible and they must be gold/plat tops and wanting their easymode heroes to work 100% of the time against heroes that take 5x the effort to get anywhere close to the same value. 👍
Agree with what you said, just revert the nerf and leave the hero alone, cant remember the time when doom got a buff and then didnt get some compensation nerf to different part of his kit because his wr skyrocketed by 0,1%

i feel as they made the nerf in a weird way as more often than not you are using the slam to run/escape fights not using it for more health which doesn’t make sense when you actually play the character

devs dont know shit about this game tbh, this slam nerf is totally unnecessary
the angle buff makes it easier to do damage without paying attention. angle buff is a lazy fix to the shit geometries that result in sliders when they shouldn’t. which means they nerfed slam for nothing. doom is a close range hero so nerfing slam range is fine with me since it raises his required skill level, but nerfing cooldown for slam was stupid, that’s a key part in skill expression, it’s needed to dodge the ungodly amount of unskilled bs, and it’s harder to move into the enemy without it

If you take away one whole aspect out of any hero's kit, sigma's accretion, current roadhog's pigpen, mauga's double fire, Genji's deflect, it will make the character harder to play and force you to express more skill
But that doesn't mean you're not being valued for expressing more skill
It means you're not being rewarded for not using evverything in the hero's arsenal
You're being penalised for not using every fundamental of a hero's design
You can't NOT use the one shot combo on old roadhog and then wonder why you're not getting more value than if you did
You're probably the best doomfist player in the ladder if you don't handicap yourself
But you YOURSELF phrase it ''I'm handicapping myself'' so you SHOULD be getting less value for being handicapped while others who fully utilise his kit get more value
Yes its less skillful to base your gameplay around punch or empowered punch
But its the most effective, even if using slam as the core of your playstyle is more dynamic and more fun and more skillful its not what the devs intended to be his aggro or offensive tool its supposed to be the one you use to get out or at least its secondary to his punch in offensiveness
Which is why people who use his punch are more successful they play the hero properly but less skillfully

i push dooms unrealistic skill ceiling. dooms realistic skill ceiling is his non empowered punch gameplay which is REALLY bad. if you dont build and use emp punch then doom is nearly useless now.

when i talk about dooms balance i dont refer to my handicapped playstyle. im talking about the optimal way of playing the hero. theres never been a time where i talk about doom balance where it needs to be based off my handicap. since DPS doom where i played rollout doom i never talked about dooms balance being bad because rollout doom is bad.
if you arent farming emp punch on doom then the hero is really bad. handicap or not. you can play the non emp punch part of his gameplay and you will get very low value even though it takes infinitely more skill than getting emp punch and getting picks

I dont even understand, they buffed doom to make his punch more consistent and said well now that his punch is more consistent lets make this other part of his kit less consistent, im sure that'll make people happy. I can justify the slam range perhaps but not the cooldown
and on your point of skill to value ratio, why would any new player want to pick up high skill heroes when the less skillful ones give you more instant value

I just don’t get why they nerf slam i mean why make doom a punch bot?. at first they take him out of his role as dps and remove his best ability and replace it with block a dog shit ability, then they make him good at first as tank, and then they nerf him into becoming a dog shit character who can’t protect his team or himself no more, unless you put thousands of hours playing him and do unnecessary cool movements just to get one kill while widow sit in the back of the map clicking pixels……😐 and let’s not talk about the unbelievable amount of bugs.

i think something major Overwatch has lost overtime is the Power scaling.
Now this might sound smthng out of DBZ, but shit honestly speaking, this game doesn't do its characters justice, Like Doomfist is supposed to be like the final boss, meanwhile ingame he is like dogwater unless you are god tier like quake, even genji, fking hell, I hated Marvel rivals cause of how it looked and its choppy frame rates, optimization issues, but when i played that game i finally understood why the game was fun, its cause every hero felt like a faithful and powerful adaptation of their characters, OW2 does not do that, it wants to appease everyone who bitches about smthng, i still can't believe they treat Doom and Genji as volatile cause when they buff them, they instantly revert them next week (NOT EVEN NEXT PATCH CYCLE)

I still want to feel challenged, but the devs keep pushing heroes like Orisa and Mauga into the meta, it just feels unworthy to get better.
Lets be honest it's because doomfist is black. I play valorant and phenix is so bad no buff works for him and asstra was one of the best agents in the game then they neutered her into the ground. Then they took the best moves from Astra and zphenoix's kit and gave it to Clove. They will never give us another manly black character like doom and will forever nerf him to stop him from being meta. Overwatch will get a human with a dog head before they give us another black guy.

This seems to be a solo Q ranked players perspective, at the top of the game the skill expression is macro read/ team play etc which applies to all characters
That meme perfectly points out the difference in characters in this game 😂. I always tell people don't even bother trying to get good with some characters they don't have enough potential without a perfect team comp and comms
before hazard I had to deal with doom literally every game in plat, and he was insanely good. I didn't want to play doom even if he is good. Once he got nerfed and once hazard was released there's been a lot less doom to deal with and its made me a lot happier in my games.
I always ended up coming back to the game but I have found myself literally not caring the last few months
I do get the anger about a slight buff followed by a nerft, but being completely honest 18m slam is kind of ridiculous, you can hit everyone in the whole capture point and even further away. The cooldown nerf was unnucesary and maybe the nerft to hte slam could have been compensated with another buff since doom is not in the best spot though.
I started playing rivals because it’s new and was waiting for the next season of ow once I read the nerfs for doom one slam in the practice range could be enough to stop one tricking him

yah that meme clip i made is over a year old and i believe s76 was a bit overtuned at the time when they gave him some buffs but s76 is generally the most fair hitscan and i believe hes bad now. i dont think he needs buffs at all but the whole game needs nerfs

I don’t understand why Blizzard thinks low ranked players need gimmicky and skill-less counter abilities to be able to beat high skill ceiling heroes, when surely the players on those high-skill heroes should just end up ranking up away from the less skilled ‘frustrated’ players who don’t enjoy playing against those heroes/players…?
Like, doesn’t the entire prospect of the skilled being ranked up and the unskilled being deranked just keep those two groups separate in game…?

this nerf doesnt make doom any worse in my opinion, it just makes him more annoying to play since it fucks up your memory (for the cd cycle) so basically first we get a "buff" that in reality it just made punch more consistent( since most sliders are just undeserved) then we get a nerf to spit us in our faces.
its also funny how they have no idea what doomfist identity is, they stated many times they think his identity is his punch, when in reality u can ask any doom player and (at least for dps doom) it was the combinations of his abilities, not just punch. for tankfist they kinda forced the emp punch identity on him since its the only strong part of his kit.
