      It really hurt Doris, that when he came to see her in Carmel, Ca.; that he told her that he had flu! And he probably did, he just left out one detail! She would not have cared! She would have been by his side! 😥

      @@ceciliem1811 Absolutely Doris Day would have supported him and been an advocate. Rock Hudson's death in 1985 was the start of the AIDS awareness crisis in our country. Another woman we need to recognize in Hollywood was Elizabeth Taylor for her support, love, and work in the AIDS crisis movement. ♥️🕯

    All I can say in 2020 about this man that I just learned about last night is I am so sorry Rock that you may have felt like you did not feel loved like you deserved to be. I believe that now you can finally be at peace with who you are and feel loved beyond the height of the galaxies. And no one can take that away from you for it is yours to feel and embody in spirit for eternity.

    • @castinmeadows6956
      @castinmeadows6956 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@albertdibari7874 Pshh, no, not because he was gay -- but because I don't give a rat's ass about whether their good looks would have produced good-looking children. Tirado's is a totally superficial comment. I'm interested in the tremendous talent they brought to the screen.
      To this day, Hudson remains an under-rated 'serious' actor. He excelled 'too well' at these witty 1950s rom-coms, and was cast as basically a hunk in other mainstream fare. His best work, which actually requires a brain more than just gonads in a movie goer, goes unnoticed except by hardcore cinephiles. There are his performances in the deceptively straightforward (no pun intended) "women's pictures," which contained highly subversive, astute social commentaries within dir. Sirk's perfectly calibrated 1950's genre films. Then, there's Hudson's portrayal in the terrifying, unforgettable "Seconds," by dir. Frankenheimer. (A movie which, as it happens, was among the darkest commentaries ever committed to film on the obsession with physical youth and physical beauty, as cover for the barren/sunken terrain within.)
      That's what I think about, when I think of Hudson -- not that he was gay. I couldn't care less about that (except my compassion for the living -- if not, suicidal -- hell that any gay person went through, in those days, in having to hide their true sexuality, not to mention still to this day). True skill or artistry transcends false divisions -- including the most juvenile of all prejudices: physical appearance. Sure, who doesn't enjoy gazing at physically attractive people?! But to make a central or exclusive point of it is tiresome, sophomoric, boring, one-dimensional, and so f'ing shallow. As if being physically attractive was an end-all-be-all attribute (which, stupidly, it is, and at the expense of elevating a whole range of actually enduring and far more interesting and fascinating human attributes).
      Given Hudson's sexually-closeted life, he'd probably be amused at the idiocy of such one-track drivel. That kind of blind adoration was monotonously heaped upon him in his hey-day. Whereas, what WOULD have gotten his attention, as a screen actor, that is, would've been informed and thoughtful acknowledgment of his more critical work -- which was totally overlooked, or vastly under-appreciated, for decades. The comments to this video (and others) evidence the same persistent myopia.

    Very touching what Doris Day says about Rock Hudson, they complemented themselves very well on the set and off the set there was a lot of chemistry between them, they enjoyed each others company always laughing. I always thought that Rock Hudson should have married Doris Day, his life would have been better, With the death of Doris Day has been more sad because, three great actors including Tony Randall are no longer here, they were my favorite actors it feels a great loss, I will always remember them with their movies and listening to the songs of Doris Day, it was a big singer too

And hopefully, Doris is right there with him, another beautiful soul. I loved Doris so much. Her love for animals was beyond compare. And she was so beautiful. And so kind. I think Doris Day movies she made with kids were her best! Send me no Flowers is so funny, Please don't eat eat daisy's comedy's where the best she did, her movies made you feel good, she had yellow in a lot the sets , maybe that's another reason they thought of her as sunny and cheerful, or a least part of it. If I would say one thing she was not good at, or at least it never looked like she enjoyed it and it came natural, were any of her kissing seen with her lead actor if it was romantic ........but her movies are awesome I think would be nice if they made a life time movie of her , and her life man she was a very gifted person singing, acting, style and animals good lady and person.
