    The way your daughter explains having to wipe the lens off is too cute!!! 😂❤. Great video!!!
    Edit: I realize I’m about 4 years late to this party. Lol. But I’m just now catching Nordhavn fever. I’m hooked and working towards owning one myself in the future. I’ll follow y’all’s journey til then😎👍

    Awesome! Cool Rich People! Haha,, I'm so tired of people buying yachts and parking them at a marina for cocktail parties & weekends. Its very nice to see people use these toys for what they are meant for. Exploring & Discovering!! So cool to share this with your child,, she'll never forget this and its far more educational than school. Very impressed with the video and your story,,, and of course, Ford's Terror! So Majestic!

    Good job showing where you are. I would like to see a little bit more of the traveling and repair but only because I am considering purchasing a trawler and a couple minutes of that part is educational for me.

    Yosemite Valley in a Boat? Try Hetch Hetchy reservoir in Yosemite Natl. park. They essentially flooded a second version of Yosemite Valley with a dam. When you look at the waters of the "lake" they created on average it is over 300 feet deep. It is still a beautiful hike if you are so inclined.

      Gogs - the depth at the face of the glaciers is at least hundreds of feet. There arms on the way in are all really deep with no real anchorages.
      Here’s a link to a good chart of Tracy Arm and South Sawyer Glacier as an example. Note the depths on the chart are in fathoms: www.charts.noaa.gov/BookletChart/17311_BookletChart.pdf

      Phil Muller - it’s a Ranger 29. Pretty cool boats in that you can run slow at trawler speed to save fuel but they will also get up and move fast if you need to. I just found out that the owner of the boat that we cruised with is selling it to move to a bigger boat:

      M/V Cassidy Thank you.. Oh does it look like a sign. But you have just opened us to something I had not known of. A boat that can get some speed to get in town for dinner or nice and slow to see it all. My wife and I have been diving into this whole new world and loving it. I think the Rangers still look better to us for the fact that we can haul it out or selfs! Still a few years away from the baby getting into College and starting her big adventure which will open our door to go on ours..
      I just saw on SlowBoats your Cassidy is up for sale in Dana Point. Good luck on your next adventure! Hope its another boat to do more and not that corp life pulled you back in.
      God bless and happy holidays to you from all the Muller’s! :)

    Terrific job on the videos. Looking to make a similar trip next spring. Would be very interested to know what other boat makes and models are on the trip with you. There appears to be a red hulled Ranger Tug, if so, am surprised that a boat of that size and type is making the trip.

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Steve Cieri - there are 3 Nordic Tugs (2 37s and a 34) with us and you were correct about the Ranger - it’s a 29.
      The Nordic Tugs are super popular around here and probably one of the better choices for the inside passage. They have more speed than we do and you don’t really need an ocean crossing capable boat like we have for most of the inside passage. That said - it’s nice to have our stabilizers when it gets windy and around the “gates” like Cape Caution.
      The 29 Ranger Tug is a really nice boat and plenty capable of making the trip - it just needs to go fast to prevent rolling when it’s rough and then fuel burn becomes an issue.

      Shooting and editing video is a new hobby that I picked up as a way to document our adventures on the boat - wherever it is that we may go next. Really enjoying it so far. The drone is a really neat tool because it opens up an entire new perspective and viewpoint of places.

      You missed your calling Sir. I look forward to seeing more of your story unfold. I am trying to convince my wife to move to the cruising life. Video like your I am using to provide her some inspiration. • @codymcgowan1
      @codymcgowan1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great Videos! Really looking forward to following your story. What kind of Drone are you using? I see you have both a Boston Whaler and rigid inflatable. Why both?
      You probably get this a lot but id be curious to get a picture of the financial commitment for this lifestyle. Ive been looking at this myself for a while and trying to get an idea of when the right time to do it would be. Do you plan to live on savings or do you have a passive revenue to fund this lifestyle?

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Cody McGowan - a couple of your questions are easy to answer.
      The drone is a DJI Spark. It works surprisingly well for an inexpensive drone but I’m coming up on limitations with the short battery life and lack of a gimbal in the panning axis.
      We have an 11 foot whaler but not a RIB. That boat was one we borrowed from another boat we were cruising with. I like the Whaler because there are no tubes to repair or maintain. Tradeoff is that it is heavy!
      We do have another dinghy, a roll up inflatable Takacat with wheels for when we need to land on the beach.
      The cost part is hard to answer. We haven’t been cruising long so don’t have a lot of data. There are some things that are easy to control like anchoring our vs staying in marinas, cooking on board vs eating out. The big variable is boat expenses. We’ve been fixing things like our hydronic diesel heater, watermaker, charging system etc. and sometimes you get hit with a big expense or a lot is small ones add up. I’ve seen a figure thrown around that boat maintenance can be 10% of the value of the boat annually, but that seems so arbitrary and I’m not sure I buy it. So I guess I’d say check back in after we’ve been at it a little longer and have more data.

    Do you cruise at night with all those scary icebergs? Does your radar pick them up? Do boats your size have radars? Are all the screens in the captains room radars? Do you have to be a ship captain to drive your boat?

    • @CassidysSailingTrawler
      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      J Altenburg - We do have two radars but don’t run at night in the inside waters in the northwest - mainly because there are a kind t if logs and other debris that don’t show up well on radar. Offshore we will run 24/7 with someone always on watch.
      The screens are configurable to show any instrument on the network. We plan to put up a video showing the inside of the boat, including the pilothouse in the near future.

      @CassidysSailingTrawler  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      ysesq - we’ve had a lot of requests for information about cost and budget. It is something we may share in the future as we get some time cruising behind us and a better set of data.

    You can pay for music rights through the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (“ASCAP”); Broadcast Music, Inc. (“BMI”); and the Society of European Stage Authors and Composers (“SESAC”) collectively, the “Performing Rights Organizations” for musical works. I use to have to pay for rights when I owned a online county music radio station. Then you just respond to youtube and tell them you paid the rights to use the song.
