Finally someone with brains to mention smt so simple than no one seems to cover. Thank you sir!
Thank you bro. You are the only one who did a Review on this new Qi2 Cryoboost Version !!! ❤
@@ilhamisimsek96 your very welcome, glad you liked it
Looks like u are giving this charger a go but on amazon, it is marked as frequently returned item. Any clue?
@@liameneuk probably because people don’t know how to use it well. I’ve never had to return one, and when one failed they sent me a new one fast.
@@TechGeekTXDad So what made yours eventually failed after making the video?
@@liameneuk it wasn’t after the video, it was a car usb a plug.
You never tried a usb-a to usb-c on the "new" esr qi2 charger.
I have the new esr qi2 wireless car charger, and it works pretty freaking well with an old usb-a to usb-c cable, plugged into a usb-a 12v adapter.
The charging standard doesn't change bc of the cable. The charging standard the charger uses is what the charger was built with.
Sure, you could bottleneck a qi2 to revert back to qi1, but you'd have to use lika a 5v0.5amp brick to do so.
@@BeardElk actually I did try it once in a car, unfortunately it destroyed the esr charger.
@@TechGeekTXDad Well thats pretty weird? That sound like a faulty unit. They all got daughterboards protecting them from faulty currents, and all usb uses the same base current?
@@TechGeekTXDad USB-C to USB-C communicates really well with eachother, and thats how you're guaranteed a certain speed.
But if a USB-C devices is unable to communicate with the plug, it just defaults to basic 5v 1amp, and nothing bad happens.
@@BeardElk it was the first and last time I ever plugged into a USB a in a car. Since I plug it into USB c I've had no issues
Worth getting if you already have the 1st version?
Does the newer one get less hot?
My Phone throttles after a few hours driving.
@@Klibabin I’ve seen faster charging with the new one and zero throttling on my iPhone 16 Pro Max.
Thanks for taking the time to make a review!
Is the qi2 cryoboost one quieter than the original cryoboost? I just got the original version and I find the fan noise to be audible enough to be annoying to me.
@@chronowarp123 it seems to be, but hard to tell while driving. Depends on how quiet your car is when driving.
@@TechGeekTXDad my original one is noticeably the louder than the car's air conditioning (which is at 2/5 speed). How did it compare for you when you tested it at home?
@@chronowarp123 at home the fan always sounds a bit louder, but in the car while driving, it’s barely noticeable.
I think you have no chance to hear it in non electric car. Not sure if it have more speeds (will the summer heat make it louder?), but my phone was really hot after iOS18 upgrade and I didn't hear it when driving, only when car was powered down and it was directly next to my ear. But is not ultimate solution, when testing at home, even on this charger the phone once turned off the charging for battery overheating (after mentioned iOS upgrade) so it will not cool the phone in every situation.
will it still work in the heat if its mounted via windscreen?
@@jonathanleonard9507 it will, but sometimes you might have to unplug and replug it in to get the fan to work, sometimes, it depends on how much sun is hitting it directly.
Great review!
I wanted to buy it but it says not for iPhone 16 .. I have the iPhone 16 pro max .. thoughts on another ?
@@dondraper7992 it works with the iPhone 16, I use it with my iPhone 16 Pro Max daily.
@@TechGeekTXDadok thank you
Does having a magnet on your phone case does it prevent charging?
@@bjjohnson8675 if you mean MagSafe then no.
Do you know how long it takes to change samsung s24 ultra 0% to 100% or 50% to 100%
And also great video 🙏🙏🙏
@@BOSS.Destroyer not so sure about Samsung, but if it’s fast charging is anything like the iPhone, I’d say about 30 mins or more.
Do you know if it works for iphone 16?
@@ТерористТалибан yes it does
Have you noticed it charges extremely slow? I have it charging wirelessly and it goes up maybe like 1-2% in 20-30 minutes. The moment I switch to charging plugged in it’s 10x faster.
@@UKingdom are you using an iPhone 16 Pro Max?
@@TechGeekTXDadyes 16 pro max
@@UKingdom several factors can make it charge slow, the phones back is warm or the charger itself is warm from the sun. Once everything cools down in the car, it’ll charge much faster.
Hello, looking for any info regarding the CryoBoost. is it just a fan? i have a car charger that i use in the house that has a fan but also a chip of some type that actually make the surface of the charger cold so way more effective than just a fan and it has a temp chip so it does not over cool as that is not good for batteries either. Thank you for any thoughts and knowledge you might be able to give. Be well
@@seanmelvin5115 it’s like a fan, but it was designed to cool & charge your iPhone at the same time.
@@TechGeekTXDad thank you. so the tech is just a fan it does not have any actual heat removal like some of the newer car chargers that actually get cold to the touch?
@ the back of the iPhone will get cool, but it’s designed to cool & charge, not just work like a fan. It protects the iPhone battery from overheating.
I have a question: When you plug it into the car, does the light stay on even when the car is parked? Or does the device's light remain on when the car is parked and no one is inside?
@@W33PZ as long as the plug has power the light will go on, no matter if your parked or driving
Good idea. Do you know if it will work with a portable charger like anker usb c 5k battery pack? That would make it fully portable.
@@aroB777 yes it does and you can also use a 30w charger block to use it anywhere
@@TechGeekTXDad works with cases without magnetic ?
@ it probably would, but it’s safer to use a MagSafe case.
Hi, can you turn off the light somehow without unplugging the charger completely? Can't imaging driving at night with phone not covering it. Considering this or the Tesla one (looks little more premium and don't have that light). Thanks for the video.
@@freezersk unfortunately the light only turns off when no iPhone is connected.
@@TechGeekTXDad That should be OK than, if it turns off when there is no phone, suppose when there is a phone, most of the light is blocked… Thanks 👍🏼
@@freezersk you got it
@@TechGeekTXDad bought it, but the light does not turn off at all. If the charger is connected to power it is always on. It goes between two levels of brightness but have no idea about the logic behind it (maybe when the fan is on? but why the fan turns on without phone). Will be testing it because my 12V plug is always on and if the light and fan is on all the time on the charger this just isn't for me.
@@freezerskthat’s to bad, you have found a way to put it off with more testing?
If not what do you think of the ZEERA gen5 Qi2 car charger?
Or what other option you have found?
sorry but, if you're going to do a review and trying to make money off us, at least take the time to show how well it mounts within car. from experience, I know this type of gimbal/ball head can be junk, and do not see it standing the test of time. inherently the way magsafe works, it's going to see a lot of torque, and these plastic ball mounts/tighteners rarely do a good job for more than a month.
meh to another review that is pointless ...
@@kernzilla I think you should work for a focus group, looks like you have a lot of time on your hand.
Besides no one forced you to watch any of the videos.
@@TechGeekTXDad oh dude, as a viewer ya don't know until the *end of the video if you're time has been wasted. just trying to make an educated purchase, but apparently it's my mistake for clicking your video.
you're already putting effort towards making a video & upload, make it relevant and useful, and I swear your channel will be more successful. otherwise, can't be surprised to get comments like this. 🤷♂
@@kernzilla truly understand your young way of thinking, unfortunately you do not work for TH-cam, so your opinion is only yours and not constructive.
@@TechGeekTXDad I completely disagree with that last point about someone's request/advice not being constructive. This other viewer literally told you they wanted to see a specific thing in your review that would be incredibly useful to them as a viewer AND help you as the TH-camr get more success if you would include that 1 specific thing because it gives a better scope of how well the product works. This means your videos get to run a bit longer (helpful with YT's algorithm) and the audience will be more likely to share a more in-depth review video over just a bare bones review any day of the week.
And that first reply of telling the commenter to work for a focus group just because they asked a question....... That, to me, comes off as very rude because you went out of your way to make a reply that not only didn't answer the question and didn't provide any helpful info to the commenter, but your reply literally is based around essentially kinda snarkily telling them what to do in the manner your reply came off.
And just a side point, you even made a second reply JUST to put down a commenter for asking a question/requesting 1 small inclusion in your review that wouldn't take much time at all. You basically shamed your audience. Good job. You just lost a potential subscriber (me).
