    Thank you for this video - love that I didn’t have to listen to 20 minutes of fluff for the meat of your topic.

    The good thing about these videos is that DMs can make a playlist to share (over and over) with various players to help get them up to speed and up to snuff so they are productive AND engaged. Etiquette is really important to show respect to everyone and it's not that hard to learn. Thanks, Bud!

      Lawrencium I originally created them for internal use on my Discord server! I’m really glad others are getting some use out of them!

      The Chopshop Network I only wish there were more vids on getting up to speed on R20. I thought their own tutorial was very bad and flakey.

    I love the "You go first" rule

    Great tips.
    If you have trouble with too many people speaking at once, you could have the players “raise their hand”, using the chat. Chat command “/em Raises hand”
    Also, if you can use a wired connection instead of wireless, I recommend that. Less chance of network hiccups.

    One more, When someone is in the process of making their rolls for actions they are taking on their turn in the chat, dont spam the chat with other stuff.

      Really good one Chuck! I might mention this one in the next etiquette video!

    This is great! I can see this finding it's way into a list of "onboarding" must-watches for new players.

    I thought I was just being way too shy but hearing Tip 5 is honestly made me realize that the Roll20 Table I joined was not very good and also a really useful tip for a D&D 5e Lost Mine of Phandelver Adventure I'm going to run

    • @CharlieQueenTV

      I'm glad I could provide some helpful insight, haha! Once the whole table masters the "No, you go" concept, online games flow really well. IME they often flow better than IRL games at the table.

      I'm glad we could show the light, Joseph! lol! Playing online can be really rewarding once you get the platform and the etiquette down!

    Subbing for the Roll20 tips. I’ll be looking into the royalty free music list as well.
    Thanks for the content.

    I like your style. I look forward to more roll 20 tutorials I have just started, as so many of us have, gaming online with my group. We have been using zoom and it works ok. The video and audio are great and being able to share your screen makes it so with DnD Beyond you can do a lot, but the stats and D&D specific stuff with tokens and maps. Well, that is more difficult.

    If only more people followed this advice.
    I've found the whole Roll20 experience to be very frustrating thus far.

    Great Tips! (I admit that I break rule #1 all the time, but my setup prevents feedback so all good! =D )

    • @OrnateOwl
      @OrnateOwl 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To test it out, have it so that your audio output "listens" to your audio input, and if you start hearing that annoying high frequency going back and forth, then it's really bad and needs better prevention.

    Hi, using the Galaxy Note Series here.
    With Samsung DeX, I can run roll20 and discord both just fine on my home tv screen.
    With inexpensive true bluetooth keyboard and mouse, I have a more netbook-like experience with the full capabilities to run several apps smoothly at the same time on 16GB of ram and high definition graphics too.
    Sorry Apple users. Maybe next year.

      I would like to add that this is also possible with note 8 and newer, permitted users have the dex station, and note 9 and newer so long as you have just the cable.

    If your suggestion is to use a standing mic, but not have your speakers on, then do you suggest people use simple headphones to hear the audio? Or does that mic effectively filter out any feedback?

    • @CharlieQueenTV
      @CharlieQueenTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      These mics are more sensitive to outside noise than most, so you will need some sort of basic headphones at least to prevent feedback

    I don't have a microphone and my computer doesn't support headphones, I don't have the money to fix that either, so I'm just playing text only games, Wich is sad because most people avoid those ;(

    So your number 2 has nothing to do with etiquette and your own personal "opinion." MY headset works perfectly fine, and i have not had any complaints in over 12 years of online gaming, whether it be roll 20, d20 or fantasy grounds. If your personal preference is a mike, that's on you, but to say etiquette requires it, is a joke.

    • @CharlieQueenTV
      @CharlieQueenTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think I pretty clearly stated that headsets can work fine and that as long as your comms are clear you’re good. In any case, a large diaphragm microphone will always be superior in sound quality to a small diaphragm. That is not an opinion. It’s physics.

    • @CharlieQueenTV
      @CharlieQueenTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also I pretty clearly said, “in my experience” a microphone works better. Microphones easily give the best quality for price ratio.

      @@CharlieQueenTV That isn't important; what is important is this poster got his tiny dopamine rush off this and moved on. These people don't want discourse, they only want to try and correct others. It is abnormal behavior.
