Atomic Habits is a great read!!
Really good. Something that’s stuck with me for over 40 years is look around the frame and be in the moment. Some of my best photos have been because I took my time. Thanks for the video.
You really raised some interesting questions. Tnx!

Luv this photo!
Goughiiie for President 🍭🙋
I can barely make weekly videos! 😂
Nice advise!
Great Advice
Goughie ;)
Your first advice and then the picture at 1:23.....
It is layered..definitely a great picture.
As if you wanted everybody to lokk in the mirror by looking in the mirror^^
Kinda sarcastic 😁
I generally hate “helpful tips” advice, but these were spot on and actually great advice. Thx!
Good advice; the outing should be enjoyed as much as taking photographs..
Oooo that’s a great one!!
That sounds very much like mindfulness-based photography which is enhancing our observation to a new level. Why? I remember seeing a quote that said photography basically is a visual storytelling medium what story are we trying to convey full stop because images don't have words it is our creativity that tells the story😮😅... it's interesting with my photography mate sometimes I will plan it and I will execute that plan but if I don't have a plan I'm really happy just to go and explore and see what I find it actually has to be one of the other extreme to be useful full stop it either has to be meticulously planned all of the gear I need or I'm quite happy just to go walking with one camera and one lens and see what I find don't try to do both. Always enjoy your videos
Definitely good pieces of advice! Thank you!
Atomic Habits is one of the best books also! 👍
Awesome video and excellent tips!
I'll try out the habit observation!
Cheers mate!
Great tip color coding for priority! I usually do it by type of cuisine or attraction but end up rarely hitting any of the locations I mapped lol
Good stuff, Goughie
Great idea with google maps, i must try that one myself. Photography is a challenge on so many levels regardless of skill, experience or vision. I think it's hard to be confident 100% of the time.
Good advice.........
ooo love that google maps tip! i didn’t know that was a thing you could do haha i need to incorporate that into my own trip planning in the future. great video!
Thank you!
Thanks for the good video!
Sound advice, but whilst planning is good it is also vital to keep an open mind if the feel of the place differs from what Maps told you. And thus be able to react accordingly.
Well I guess that’s what the maps for, it’s essentially a list! It’s not a planned out determined route, it’s just a list on what should be prioritised
Solid advice, but what was habit #5? 1=observe harder; 2=why?; 3=foreground; 4=plan ahead. Stacking was how to apply them. No?
For fear of overcharging, I don’t charge gear all night. Also, for safety of camera electronics, it’s a prudent, IMO, to charge battery in separate charger. Cheers!
I knew someone would notice 😂 so I deleted one out! Because I stumbled my words and couldn’t edit it in a way that it worked without reshooting it was:
#5 - Taking EDC Seriously
And how it results in you taking more photos, and therefore more likely good ones. As well as spotting the beauty in the mundane
@@Goughie We pay attention😁 to good YT content.👍 Speaking of “beauty in mundane” - that’s a big part of Wabi-Sabi in photography. Been covered on YT, but am sure you would do a fine job of covering the subject in your own post (just don’t number stuff😁.)
I'm reasonably adept at 1, 2, 3 & 4. 5 will take some future thought .
😂😂😂
Good advice. Planning is indeed the most important aspect of trips. Above all, you should plan enough time to see all the important things so that you don’t have to rush through them as I often do.
One piece of advice that has brought me a lot of comfort is having an Apple Watch and checking the map there instead of constantly taking the phone out of my pocket. That annoyed me the most, at least.
Imagine it’s good for keeping you in the zone a little better!
Thought provoking video - thank you! I looked at your presets, would you consider publishing them for Capture One?
I just don’t use it! I really should! Maybe one for the new year!
I would definitely buy - I really enjoyed your recipes videos and have been using them, and love the look of your Instagram posts!
That Google Map = relationship goals 😅
I’ll make sure she knows she’s lucky 😏😂
Another great video -- love your straightforward and sincere style. Keep it up!@@Goughie
@@boringwalksandtalks thank you mate! Means a lot!
How do you colour code the map 😮
I use something called “Google mymaps”
I wouldn't file this under advice, but I shoot Canon, and the RF lenses and bodies are heavy. I've started to think a lot more about what I want to shoot and commit to taking one lens for the job. The habit is only good for my back 😅
Ahah! Big lenses…. Big arms 💪🏻😂
I agree with you 100 %. If I have a good idea or what my subject will be before I leave home, I take a lens that is best for the photo. But, I also carry an alternate with me incase plan A doesn't work out. Plus a spare battery & I rarely ever take my camera bag, back issues also.
