    Great instructions my husband did this for a living but he died four years ago so I have to do it my self, I know now I can do this without getting someone in to do it for me.....I will let you know how I get on ..Thank you so much for putting this video on.

    If only it was this simple. I couldnt even get the beading to pop out of the groove using a chisel and a hammer. Rock solid.

    Using the right tool and method you showed, the beading still does not budge on my front door. It does not create any gap at all.
    The beading is so tight and strong.

    Hi Ryan it is the same process however as there is no opener you do not have to worry about the top packers lifting up the opening sash etc. You need to ensure the panel sits on the bridge packers to allow water to drain and pack the panel squarely each side with a bit of silicone to hold the packers in place which helps the upvc to remain in the correct position when the door is operated. Regards Allan

    Hi Ryan, great video.
    I am interested in learning how to make these Insert Panels with Glass and Letter Hole for UPVC Frames. Any pointers will be helpful. Cheers!!!

    Do you have a video of how to replace the glass in the door panel?

  • @dennell
    @dennell 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you using the packers to keep the panel steady? what about the door expansion? do you not need the door to be able to expand slightly to ensure it doesn't crack?

    Do you have a video on how to fit a door with a side panel? How do you attach the side panel when fitting.?thanks

  • @upvcspares4repairs
    @upvcspares4repairs  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The panel is in fact viewed as though it is a piece of glass and therefore it is essential that it is toe and heeled I:E packed as indicated. Unless this is done the door will never operate correctly and the door will drop" and will catch on the bottom of the frame. The biggest issue with this is that the lock mechanisms will not engage correctly and will mean that the locks and hinges fail quickly and continually every few years as well as the obvious security risks. You are correct in noting that upvc will expand in extreme heat by a few mm's and there is always a risk that if the upvc skins have not adhered to the construction of the panel correctly they can crack however the packing around the panel is an industry standard and is accepted as good practice and should be within the tolerances of the manufactures allowances. The assumption with all upvc is that the door sash and the door panel will move / expand in the same way and within the rebate tolerance around the door system.

      UPVC paneled doors arnt very secure coz the panel can easily be kicked in or kick a hole throagh it

    What silicone did you use to stick the packers in?

  • @tk4270

    Finally took the beading out.
    I wish you would have told us that taking the seal/gasket from the outside of the door would help.
    In any case your video is very helpful. Thank you.

      For anyone wondering there is a few different methods some are beaded inside and just need to be knocked out like this video, some are beaded outside and have security tape holding the panel or glass in that is extremely strong and needs to be pushed from the inside to remove it and the other is a wedge gasket that needs to be removed first to allow the panel to move away from the bead so it can be unhooked and removed this system usually has a thick rubber bead the opposite side of the beads. Hope this helps someone.

    Hi, is it likely that these panels are ever glued in? I'm having problems getting mine to budge, and I dont want to just start prying harder. Cheers for a great instructional video!

    • @Mikey__R
      @Mikey__R 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok, it looks like the rubber bead might be glued in. Does that sound likely? Should I cut the rubber seal away, then when I fit the new panel and put the beads back in, use silicone to seal it again? Or are the beads now useless and will need to be replaced?

    It could be a double leg bead that is held in place with a wedge gasket We would need to see some photos of this to better advise

  • @allanhinchliffe4518
    @allanhinchliffe4518 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fortunately you need to be already inside the house to remove the glazing beads as doors are internally beaded !

  • @upvcspares4repairs
    @upvcspares4repairs  2 ปีที่แล้ว

    if you are wanting one similar to the full one in the video fitted with glass etc you need to go to one of the big sheds like Gap Upvc or Eurocell who will stock a range of options
    If you are just wanting a flat solid panel then you will be able to find an option on Upvcspares4repairs

    I used to install doors and windows , never had a problem changing the glass insert aka double glazing or the panels .... until today 😡 some idiot had used silicone to fit the insert ( not needed at all he must have watched this video ) so I am unable to remove the strips and one of them is damaged now , i am fuming

    That door doesn't seem very burglar proof if all it takes is a chisel 🤔

    • @upvcspares4repairs
      @upvcspares4repairs  ปีที่แล้ว

      This is an internally glazed door, so the beading would not be accessible from the outside.

  • @juless1045

  • @upvcspares4repairs257

    Fortunately you need to be inside the property to remove the panels as the glazing beads are always internally beaded on doors (or should be)

  • @upvcspares4repairs257
    @upvcspares4repairs257 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Unfortunately no as the glass in door panels are usually trapped between the inner and outer pvc skin and you would destroy the full panel trying to remove it sorry
