  • 99% of the vinyl I use on my channel is Specialty Materials Brands I have tried many kinds over the years, and they are my absolute favorite. The quality is top-notch, I have a video where I wash a shirt 50 times, and the vinyl still looks brand new. • Thermoflex vs. Siser: ... They have the most extensive range of products and colors around ( there are over 90 colors in the ThermoFlex Plus and GlitterFlex Ultra lines alone). They also offer free product samples on their website, which you don’t see anymore. Trust me, request a sample because if you try it, you will know why I love it.

This is a really neat idea. Heat & Bond is usually used by sewers/quilters for applique but you still typically have to do something to finish off the edges; this looks like it would take care of that problem by covering up the very edge with the vinyl.

The last time i tried this, i kept the Heat Bond paper on when i cut the fabric then peeled of the excess fabric like i would 651 so it would come off the mat in one piece.

You can use Silhouette Studio - Business Edition - to make designs for both Silhouette, Cricut and Brother Scanncut. This since you can save SVG-files now. As long as you have Business Edition, that is. You can even purchase SVG-files in SilhouetteDesignStore (.com). Not ALL their designs, but most, I think.

When I attach the Ultra-Heat Bond to the fabric, am I attaching it to the right side of the fabric? Do I place the bonded fabric on the cutting mat right side up or do I have it flipped over on the wrong side and mirror the image that is being cut out on the Ultra-Heat Bonded fabric? I want to make sure that I understand the process so as not to waste product...thank you for your videos, you make everything look so darn easy. I will admit that I have been encouraged to do more complex projects since watching your videos.

If you use Silhouette Studio, you type your text and edit it to whatever font you like first, then press offset. You can adjust the thickness of your offset. Select both offset and original text, then EITHER right click and «make compound path» OR go to the Modify panel, select Subtract. :)

If fabric placed on mat with bond/glue side up then reverse cut, if fabric side up DONT reverse. If using a carrier sheet from other htv(like an old glitter carrier sheet) then put fabric side on carrier (bond side up) then cut in REVERSE.

the method using the heat & bond is used by sewers/quilters for doing aplique and is typically done using 100% cotton fabric; it's the basic fabric that you'll find in places like Hobby Lobby or Walmart, or if you have it JoAnn Fabrics
