Love the df3, putting the LAB into the bag was a game changer
You really need to use the DF3, previous DF models are huge. My DF3 Is more comparable to my TM spider in size. It’s absolutely the best putter I have used. Mine was close to the price you mentioned but I did upgrade to a TPT shaft and got fit at LAB
I just want to say I really enjoy your videos…guys like you make golf fun and to me golf is about playing with good people!
The stock LAB putters are $450-$500, not $900. Every PGA Super Store has 5-7 used ones for $350. Many PGA pros started bagging it for a reason, it works
Ya I have a normal one that is not even close to 900 bucks. And it is a great putter
Mine was $900. But not stock. $400 for the shaft.
I had a L.A.B. Mezz1 max, which I loved. Until I tried the DF3….
I have a custom/fit DF3 I and paid no more that $600 with graphite shaft.
I continue to use my Odyssey #7 from 22 years ago. Changing putters is starting over again. I’m not going backwards nor spending $500 plus on one stick. I don’t buy drivers when released either. I wait up to 2 years for the half price drop. Only one thing will change your game- your ability.
Haha, there’re people who can afford to enjoy the finer things in life...others make do!! I have a new LAB DF3 on the way 🙂
When I hear something is reasonably priced, then the price is not mentioned; I assume it is not reasonably priced.
The moment I saw those LAB putters I thought it was over priced nonsense.
7:50 Best short putt in the history of the game! 👍
I thought the LAB putter was the most amazing putter I had ever tried. No way in my lifetime I could afford one though. I found a $30 Bobby Grace V foil that felt equally amazing. Now I have to figure out what to do with the $870 saved! lol. Love my BG
The new LAB DF3 is $450 at Carl's Golfland. Not cheap but not $900. I have it and it is the business.
If I get paired with anyone with that stand putter, I'm walking off the course. There is no need for 2 more hrs added to a round while you line up your crap.
Strange putters,...I own 2 out of the 3, what's that say about me LOL. I love the LAB, but the head is so big that it's not always good around the edges of the green. There's a lot of mass there to get caught up in the fringe and such. I game the Bloodline Vale. It works for me, and the more I use it the better I get. Also for some reason I rarely leave the Vale putts short of the hole,...which has always been a problem for me when putting.
The anti-rotational tech of the LAB is the real deal. I’ve gamed one, exclusively, for 14 months. You still have to hit the right line and speed, but the real science or benefit of it is over time. For the previous 40 years, I always had to find the putter that “fit my swing”. There were days that I felt like I was fighting the putter. I’ve putted with my LAB putter over 5400 times. There are 4 times, yes just 4 times, I FELT like I twisted the putter in the stroke. I’m sure I have made bad strokes, but I have only felt like it was the stroke 4 times. I average 27 putts per round, so I miss at least 9 putts per round. Those I always feel like I missed because of Aimee it wrong or too hard or soft.
With traditional Scotty and Odyssey it was not uncommon for me to feel like I made a bad stroke for full days at a time.
My son plays lacrosse, and he and I play golf together when lacrosse season is over. He struggled to putt. So, I bought him a caliber golf putter grip so he could hold the putter similar to how he holds is lacrosse stick. And low and behold, his putting has gotten better.
I love my Mezz 1 max LAB putter, especially on fast greens. Slow greens I tend to use my Spider.
I have a bevy of broken hockey sticks in my basement and just put a shaft on my son’s putter and he absolutely loves it. Now he’s 4 and loves hockey…but I’ll take it. 😂
Re: Caliber putter and your stroke, Matt. Many years ago (late 1800s, early 1900s) the fashion was to use a very short putter, 18 to 24 inches. The theory was that very short putts require precision, and a shorter putter gives you that. If you are driving a brad, do you use a sledge hammer or a small hammer?
I think there is something to the old saying that a golfer and his money are soon parted.
I have the DF3 and it is great. It is only $450 (Carl's Golfland) so not crazy expensive.
Golf Galaxy + LAB DF 2.1 = $399.99.
$180 for Officer Eric Cartman shades?
Seen a stranger one than those, someone at our recent golf trip was rocking a BioMech Acculock Putter, weirdest thing I’d ever seen
Never heard of that one before. Boy is it strange looking.
The bloodline Vale putter changed my life. I realized that standing behind the ball during my lineup solved a ton of my alignment problems. I still keep my left hand on the putter to keep within the 2025 rule change. Took 3-5 strokes off my 18 hole score.
It changed your life?? lol.
In a sense, that putter grip I have seen and played with a retired professional hockey player who loves hockey he doesn’t have the same hand to eye coordination from hockey to golf.
i got a lab putter this year never made so many puts in in my life i dont think id use a normal putter again i have thee mezz max. I have also never had people ask so many questions about a club before
They should of called that hockey style grip/putter The Happy Gilmore Putter because that's what it instantly makes me think of, LOL!
I always suggest Taylormade Spider. It's a few hundred dollars for a new one, I got mine for $250, and it's the most forgiving & highest moi putter I've ever hit. Not as beautiful as a Scotty Cameron, but some do look dope asf and your scorecard will ty
LAB Costs the same as Evenroll, Scotty, BETTINARDI etc. any premium brand putter. Also, you’re wrong about the balance being a sham, it all depends on your putting stroke - toe balanced, face balanced and LAB are dependent on your putting arc or straight back straight through. Love your shiz regardless ✌️
I think he misunderstood the tech. Definitely, he didn't putt correctly with it. Seems like he's used to a toe balanced putter as he was holding the face from closing with the lab. No need to guide with the lab when it's used correctly.
@@dgmessenger It's strange how many reviewers can't (or won't) accept this fact. With LAB puttters you hardly do more than let it rest in the hands. I putt with the thumbs off the grip to take away any impulse to 'guide' the putter. When starting to use a LAB, hold it as lightly as you think you can, then lessen your grip more!
You don't buy the science, but love the feel! There is a reason for that!!! I paid $600 for a custom DF3, not $900
I enjoyed this edition of Putter Science in the Real World 👍
Calibre looks interesting! Solid video as always Matt. Thanks
Surprised you didn't mention that's Happy Gilmore's putting grip with the Caliber.
John Letters had a stand alone putter 30-ish years ago! Must have been heavier than that Bloodline thing as it had a standard grip!
There was a guy called Paul Trevillion who developed an extreme version of the split grip with the very low hand with a similar idea to the Caliber in the 1960’s, wrote a book about it, demonstrated it to Peter Alliss who got the yips and it was phenomenal but NEVER caught on and Alliss never used it in competition as you looked so daft!
You really should find a Boccieri Heavy putter, it’s design IS rocket science as it was a NASA engineer who designed it and when I had the yips, I went from a Broomhandle to a Boccieri mallet and I did beat the yips, using a Mizuno M-craft IV wide blade now!
The putter shaft on the LAB in this video is an extra $100. The standard is a black type. Also diferent grips are extra. A stock putter in this model is around $500 direct. I would like to try one but have seen zero at any golf shop. But it is way over priced just as a new $600 Taylormade driver. Manufacturers understand their customers. Golfers will spend thousands in search of a magic swing or stroke.
Save your money and spend more time practicing and learning to read greens.
I thought the stand-up putters were illegal for competition play? They may be conforming but you're not allowed to use it the way it's designed to be used. But I'm happy to be corrected (I'm never buying one so it makes no odds to me).
the best golf glass company is Goodr, and they arent even made for golf. 35$ for excellent shades of all shapes and even large heads like mine.
I truly believe that putting is 90% practice and 10% mental. There is no reason to spend absurd amounts of money on all of these new gimmicks. I'm still using my Titleist Dead Center putter, on my 5th grip, and I consistently putt better than all of my friends who have changed putters dozens of times over the years. It comes down to practice, practice, practice, and practice some more.
Enjoyed the review, very interesting. HATE You Tubes new look.
My bucket list putter is the LAB putter.
I have a DF2. It’s brilliant. You won’t be disappointed
I tried a LAB putter in my local PGA Golf Superstore. The price was $450. I really liked it, way more than I thought. No way in hell will I pay $450 for it. My Odyssey White Hot works fine.
Noone is making more putts with a lab putter if they aren't good at putting. It's like buying a 500 dollar driver thinking you will hit the ball straighter
@@jefferymarks7344 Agreed. I bought my current putter for $100 used. That is a lot for me, but I really enjoy it. I tried the LAB just for hell of it. I did like it more than I thought.
I have had two LAB Golf df 2.1's and I absolutely hate having them in the bag but the performance is simply stupid. On a good note, they do pay for themselves with skins.
Why do we have to be the cool guys Mr short game😂
$180 for a pair of sunglasses, REASONABLE. You have TOO MUCH MONEY, Mr SG.
according to whom? and who says he paid for them? LOL
Golf is an expensive sport. Things surrounding golf will be expensive. Even then a nice pair of sunglasses with a lifetime warranty can be $150-200 easily
@@audufferit’s a sponsorship but I agree with him they are not reasonably priced as Mr shortgame says. At least for the vast majority of us.
I paid a lot more than $180 for my Oakleys.
@@jaredmccutcheon5496would you like a medal or a chest to pin it on? Lol
For $900+ dollars it had better do way more than help me putt.
None go in your bag.
The best putter is the one you make putts with.
Not fair to LAB putters, it's only $900 if you buy the upgraded shaft - the putter is actually $500.
So, somehow you think $500 is reasonable?
Only $500 …. Oh that’s okay then 😂
How much would you spend on a driver, which you don't use every hole?
@@leonardhandzlik6008so you think $400 is meaningless?
Putting is like 40% of your golf strokes depending on handicap. And it's $450 for a stock LAB putter, same as a taylormade spider or just about any stock top line putter from any brand
Putter one is completely pointless
Putting those other two putters in a comparison test or whatever you want call it against the L.A.B is, in my opinion, is a joke. People using the L.A.B and not getting paid to do so are winning tournament's. No comparison at all.
You should probably stop shopping wherever you paid $900 for a LAB putter.
Idk why but this guy screams tool
Don’t think I will watch your content again. I don’t mind opinions, I dislike BS. Get your facts right on costs.
Love your videos but come on man. We aren’t all making bank like you. 179 for a pair of sunglasses is not reasonable. I know you get them for free but man please don’t go down the route of taking sponsorships and telling tall tales like that. Take the sponsorships but be realistic with us.
The L.A.B propaganda is real
They are an influencer machine
