Thank you very much. I am a farmer. your video helped me to fix starter spring of grass cutter. This video saved my money and precious time. Wonderful video
Thanks matey, lv never done it this way and was swearing my head off till l googled it. Been cutting trees for 20yrs and not seen this technique. A big cheers to you
After watching this enjoyable short tutorial, i managed to recoil my starter in 1/3 of this perfect video lenght that gives just the right amount of additional information for someone who might need the full explanation. Well done, ill never be flustered by another intact spring id like to reuse.
Thanks for keeping it short. Some channels turn the simplest tasks into a 30 minute show. Whenever I look for a repair on TH-cam, I go to the shortest one first, then if that doesn't help, I go to a longer one. What I don't want see for this repair is a 10 minute history of recoil rope starters, and the trip to the hardware store before getting to the task at hand . That's probably just impatient me, though.
Thanks Craig, much gratitude to you buddy as you saved my day and my fingers! After failed multiple attempts to subdue the beast using my hands as impromptu clamping jaws I was nearly to give up in despair when I stumbled upon your fantastic video 👍
Very good demonstration. The first time I had to do this was years ago (before TH-cam). I spent hours trying to figure this out. Simple once you know but a painful thumb experience when you don't. Stay safe, Joe Z
My God is it ever a pain in the ass to figure out how that damn spring can be manipulated back. I was having a hell of a time trying to get the spring coil back and than I just took a trip to ole TH-cam to see if someone knew what the hell I didn't and this video popped up and saved the chainsaws life because I was finna throw that thing down the f$#in street 😂
Thank-You very much for this & the rest of the Super Duper Videos you put together for all of us to make working on Engines a little easier for all of us! Recoils have been 'a pain' for many people. Thank-You for all the work you put-into producing such Great, easy to follow & understandable videos.
The only springs available for my Weedeater edger go the wrong way, so I had to flop the spring in the housing for it to work. Thank you for the vid, I was able to do it. Not easy with arthritis...........Thanks again.
Thanks for explaining it. I don't have a chainsaw, but you helped me salvage a cord retracting mechanism from a vacuum cleaner to make a retractable extension cord.
i have an aldi sheppach saw and i am a complete saw virgin , currently my saw is sitting idle with no pull chord and the spring doing nothing, i bought a pull rope and intend to fit it and fix the spring issue so hoping this will help me through the process , thanks , new sub
Thank you, i almost laugh when you said there no need to panic because that what was happening. Last time took me one hr to get back on, I feel pretty confident now.
nice explanation. some people use a nail driven into the workstop to hold the outside end of the coil and then wind it tight and put a zip tie around it to hold it until you are ready to put it into the housing. definitely wear safety googles. there is a lot of pent up 'potential energy' in that coiled spring. also.. be prepared to use every curse word you know..when it takes you several attempts 😅...
Great directions, yet I've nearly finished winding the spring numerous times and it pops off or it pops off once I try to install it on the saw. I eventually got it after like 15 tries. I used a vice grip to hold the spring in the slot and it took 3 attempts at installing the spring with the rewind string before it took. So basically this 20 minute job took me an hour and 20 minutes and a lot of choice words.
This mower has been kicking for about 10 years now. Always had a short cord on it after the original snapped and other minor issues with the recoil starter th-cam.com/users/postUgkx-NCBSqqKJlyQ5_JGS_STpsFYihe7bmM3 until I finally had to open it up in an attempt to feed in a new line. I noticed it was all rusty and the coil was going but upon dismantling it was too much of a pain to get it all back in there correctly and opted to just get a new one. not sure why i waited so long to do so but it was a cheap, easy fix and it would have saved me hours of fiddling with the old rusty coil or trying to pull start and having cheap make-shift lines break in my hand during a pull. If yours is scuffed just replace it!
I f*cked up my spring and have to order a new one .. Hot tip: Don't improvise. Don't bend the spring using pliers and don't straighten the spring to make it easier to work with .. 😬 (Newbie mistake I guess.)
Thanks for the demonstration. Do you have an opinion on whether or not these springs should be lubricated with anything like dry spray lube, graphite, Hudini lock lube spray, etc etc or no lube at all?
Grate video 🙂👍🏻 I know this video is not about carburetors but I have one questions how do I adjust a carburetor on a ezgo ❓ ezgo smells like un burnt gasoline and it is wasting to much gasoline by using it just around the block 😬❓thank for your great videos 🙂👍🏻.
l have a Giantz 75cc 22'' chainsaw. This chainsaw has 2 springs, one ( assuming) sucks the rope in which is 6mm, other is 12mm starts the engine. After l changed the snapped spring (12mm) Everything was ok till l tried starting it. There was only one revolution which wasnt enough to start it. l fooled around with for a while but, l coudnt work it out. Where did l go wrong? Thank you for sharing such a helpful video :)
Many thanks, my Power Mac's recoil didint work properly because the spring has pretty bad rust on a few parts, now i can take it out to clean it and have a chance in hell to put it back
Good directions but my Craftsman chainsaw doesn't have that little housing so it's a pain in the ass. I might leave the damn thing off and start it with a drill 🤣
@@phongnguyenthanh7215 Ok. Thank you for your question and it is a very good topic to make a video on. I will add it to my list and upload it very soon. Thank you Craig

TO MAKE THE JOB A LITTLE EASIER, I TOOK A SMALL SPRING CLAMP AND USED IT TO HOLD THE FIRST PART OF THE SPRING
IN THE SPECIAL NOTCH.

Today I used those same words! Finally almost had it and used needle nose pliers to hold and twist from the bend in the middle... and finally!!
Thanks man!!! I did exactly what you said and my chainsaw works great now.

Anu problem kpag d mahatak ang starter cable tnx
How do I restore my original case without replacing with Chinese aftermarket red color
that's nice that it has that little housing, mine doesn't! now what?
Ty
i wonder how the F do they do this on the assembly line at the factory?
Cool
And if the housing is the wrong shape?
If it is the wrong shape then it has most likely distorted. In that case you might need to replace it
Good directions but my Craftsman chainsaw doesn't have that little housing so it's a pain in the ass. I might leave the damn thing off and start it with a drill 🤣
So i guess to purchase a winding housing to rewind them into .Its sold as a tool is to purchase.
That's a good idea 👍
