They role their eyes back to prevent damage to them from prey or other predators :)
I swam with two hammerheads by accident while in the navy. They’re very docile most of the time. But they know where you are, always. Their accuracy of location spotting is beyond incredible. I can’t really say what exact breed of hammerheads that they were, I just know that there were two of them. One of my shipmates wanted to believe that they were great hammerheads, because they were approximately 17 feet in length.

Mark had a really tall order being expected to put on a show that would be high quality enough for the Brave Wilderness audience, because we're spoiled from the living legend that is Coyote. But he absolutely knocked it out of the park with this shark dive trip. Blue Wilderness is going to be a spectacular addition to BW.
Thank you Zoe:) - Mv
Zoe Simza Mhm agreed
I think Steve Irwin would be proud of you for doing this. This is what he was trying to do before he passed away was show people the other half of the world. I love how sharks almost know they're on camera and show off for people
Aww Steve would be proud !
They seem so docile, even getting nose rubs and rolling on their bellies. But sharks still terrify me.
Yeah..these sharks are docile but most aren't.
I want to swim with deep blue
Cinthya Morales - no you don’t,,,,, recently Deep Blue bit a shark cage. Her mouth was so wide open she basically could have swallowed the diver inside, whole! If she decides you are food, and if you are like me, the higher the fat content, the tastier you are to the shark. In my case, the sharks go, wooooo hoooooo!!,! Haha. I’m sure you are not like me but gotta throw some humour in somewhere! Haha
most of the reason that they are rolling on their bellies is called tonic immobility (7:40 is a good example you can see the diver flips the shark for a bit if the diver kept it upside down the shark would be paralyzed for up to 15 minutes)
then don't go into the water with them as predators can smell fear
Hammerhead shows up.
"hurrayyy" *waterbombs back into water*
You guys are mad.
Yes so uhh run
I know why you guys enjoy diving. Because in the water, where there's no gravity, you don't feel the heavy weight of your balls pulling you down
XD
Saulo Maia HAHAHAHAHA XDD
Basically you’re calling their balls huge because they are brave enough to jump into the ocean with sharks.... I AGREE except there is gravity in water
Um Gravity Does Exist What When You Cant Swim And You Try To Go Out In The Ocean? Well Actually, It’s Possible To Float By Flattening Your Body And Spreading Out Your Limbs
Its in Space there is no Gravity. There is Gravity in water. Unbelivable that I actually have to use energy on this.
7:37
*Should I be concerned that I thought the tiger shark blinking and rolling over was kinda adorable?*
It was trying to be a dog
croix cherie sharks close their eyes when they lunge are prey to avoid damage to their eyes
PePeTheWolf that is SO true
1:30 when the shark wanted to bite him he was like : can i have a bite ? No? Oh okay then . That was the cutest thing to me
I was coming to say something similar. It's like the shark wasn't quite sure what he was so it went up to try it and he just pushed the shark away like "nope, I'm not food" and the shark understood.
Cute ? Missing limbs are cute nowadays i guess .
Peter Taylor lol
I think the shark is curious if the guy is going to feed him fish as well because that's what one of them did in order to attrack sharks to get near to them. The one doing the shark tricks has like a bait box full of fish.
I saw it from the other divers' youtube channel, Jonathan Bird. He also made a video of this. It was also really cool!
ɪᴍ ɴᴀʏᴇᴏɴ - so true, can you imagine if he slipped off the nose and his hands landed in the mouth. It would instinctively close,,,,,,,,, he would be screwed! Auugggghhhhhhh!!!!!
They seem like the guy that never shows up to parties or anything but when they do, everyone is like OH DAMNNNN and pulling all their party tricks, probably my favourite shark, they are so crazy.
Hammerheads are my Favorite Sharks.
You guys were Lucky to see a Hammerhead, but a Great Hammerhead? You're Blessed.

Those are rather rare. During WWII, there was this particularly large great hammerhead that lived in the Gulf of Mexico. Sailors named it Old Hitler. It was big, like really big even for a great hammerhead. It is debatable whether or not it was just a fishing legend. Also, they named the shark Old Hitler because it was found during a time in WWII when German uboats were attacking ships in coastal waters around the US. Also one of it's many scars that the shark got from run-ins with fishermen's machetes looked like a swastika.
Mannn really theyre rare?! It would be fantastic to see one
It had a tracker on the right side of it's dorsal fin.
Dinosaurs,Sharks... Next time DRAGONS😂😂
Gerick Barrera that would be interesting, from Komodo dragons to the mythical dragon fossils or remains (similar to frozen dinosaur bones or something like that)

7:38 when the shark did a barrel roll, its so adorable
Rylee Su The shark didn’t do a barrel roll. The diver forced the shark to roll to induce tonic immobility (paralysing the shark for up to 15 minutes to keep the diver safe.)

This was the best shark diving video I've ever seen. With one veteran shark diver, and the rest of you doing it with such enthusiasm for the first time, yeah this shared experience is a diamond in the rough.
I absolutely love Hammerhead sharks. Such unique looking creatures.
Hammerheads are probably my favorite shark, they're pretty much harmless and are super interesting
well i agree. but i disagree about them being harmless yet hammer heads are very easy to activate tonic immobility
their 360 vision and crazy nose-vision makes seeking out and murdering you as easy as pie. idk who told you they are harmless.
Still in awe at the quality of videos from Brave Wilderness. Beautifully crisp camera work, interesting video ideas, educational and entertaining commentary. You can feel the amount of passion that goes into this channel
what??? why were these sharks so friendly??? how cute :O
Exactly..that's what I'm wondering🤔..were they drugged lol
exactly sharks are always misunderstood
Cute until you get bitten,I don’t think cute is the term that should be used for sharks, woman lol
JellyPaws they are very curious and playful creatures... tho the divers were careful with their body language, if you noticed, they kept the movements slow, and when they got too close, they got a BOOP on the nose. Sharks have very sensitive noses. If they flailed around, they definitely would have been shark food cuz rapid movements trigger their prey drive. As long as they moved slowly and calmly they were fairly safe.
Fran Finne no they were not drugged... sharks are not mindless killing machines... they are rather intelligent and curious.
Ever since I got a stuffed animal Hammerhead Shark as a kid (which I still have as a 20 year old man) I've been fascinated by them. I'm not into any other Sharks but they're just amazing.
I love seeing all of the Remoras against the sharks!so cute!🦈💙
I could watch hammerheads all day long... they are so beautiful and majestic! Thanks! 😶✌👍
More of a great white guy myself, but hammerheads are pretty cool.

Call me crazy, but I've always thought that Hammerhead Sharks look extremely cute! Their blocky head with eyes on distant corners, it fills me with a sense of warmth for this majestic, yet adorable creature. Especially when it bumps against the cameras accidentally, so oddly cute! ❤️💦

You’re not crazy! Hammerheads are my favourite. They are so adorable and they are truly fascinating.
@@yellowblob405 Glad to see others with viewpoints similar to my own! They really are cute sharks. ✨
@pogo_schtick Indeed, they are! xD
I’ve dived with sharks and they are quite personable and very docile. I was with a bull shark and several black tips. They were like dogs, each one seeking attention from out group and doing turns and tricks. They enjoyed the nose contact. Yes, these are scary animals and we were on guard, however, they really enjoy seeking your attention and we’re quite the show offs. I dove off the coast of Bimini Bahamas 50 miles east of Miami.
I feel like "Jaws" swung the pendulum too far for shark fear and now we are over-compensating with attitudes like this. The answer is almost *always* somewhere in the middle. You need to understand that when you are diving, there are many aspects of how you present and your behavior that will deter a shark from attacking you so they will seem "docile and personable" in that environment, but if you are flailing about on the surface for example, even a curiosity bite can easily end your life from a select few species and those species I'm thinking of are highly aggressive to boot. A healthy respect and amount of caution is always warranted with sharks. You say you were on guard, but no one who knows what they are talking about would describe something like a tiger shark or a bull shark as personable and docile. You really should not be seeking out close encounters with these animals at all. The reason we don't see that many shark attacks is because very few people spend much time completely exposed in the open ocean and if they do they have scary oxygen tanks and don't present as a prey item like someone floating on the surface might. Certain species of shark can and will kill you and they are unpredictable like any other wildlife.
Okay, go swim with tiger sharks now and get back to us
That is a very narrow minded view, just because nothing happened on that dive or several other dives, does not make these creatures docile, approachable etc. you never know on your next dives what shark personality you’ll encounter next, could be a hyper aggressive bullshark, a white shark or a tiger shark who’s just ran out of food in his belly and is looking for new one. You have to respect these creatures for what they are and not go seeking them out.
I'm loving Blue Wilderness as much as Brave Wilderness. I'm glad that we're getting even more content. Thank you to Coyote, Mark and Mario for the hard work. Really enjoying these channels a lot.

7:28 He is feeding the Hammerhead. This is asking for trouble for other divers. Next time the shark sees a human, he knows where to go. Bad thing..
Oh sh----
bro, no..
Lol no he didnt feed it. He was pushing against it's nose to make sure it didnt try to bite him. The fish just happened to be right there by the sharks mouth.

@@BraveWilderness I love watching animal
Epic footage of that Hammerhead. I always thought it would be harder for them to grab prey in their teeth due to that big flat head. But today I saw how they can get you. The eyes being so far apart makes them unique. Love this video.
their head is literally perfect for hunting stingrays.
They can detect them easyly with all the sensors on that surface and can also do an extremely fast U-turn.
There are alot videos on youtube of them hunting rays and they are awsome doing so.
See? Still not too old to learn more about marine life.
Hammerheads are shy sharks. I’ve snorkelled with them before. They tend to hide out near the bottom , they don’t want to be bugged.
I think I like Blue Wilderness even more. I'm both fascinated and scared by the sea, so watching these videos let's me kinda experience what I probably won't ever do myself. Great job!
Hopes for future episodes:
