I've watched this video so many times. I've caught a few BFT off the North West Coast of Ireland, from the game chair, on heavy tuna tackle, on a tuna charter boat. To get a BFT, on stand up gear, in your own boat, alone, is a fantastic achievement. I don't to a massive amount of sea fishing, but I absolutely love this channel. @@onemanriflemaker3873 They used to run right up the East coast, following the Herring shoals in the North Sea. The days of those huge Herring shoals are long gone now, but the Tuna seem to be handling the switch to Mackies quite well. The re-appearance of Tuna off the UK coast seems to have coincided with the downfall of Gaddafi's Libya. There were huge Libyan Tuna containment operations in the Med, and all those fish now have free run of the Mediterranean and out into Atlantic waters. I'd imagine their range extends wherever the big Mackerel shoals are, so there's no reason why there wouldn't be Tuna around the isle of Wight. The current ban on commercial and pleasure fishing for Tuna in Britain waters means we probably have no idea how prolific these fish are around our coasts, but having heard of huge shoals of Tuna seen off the Irish Coast, I'm thinking there's been a huge proliferation of Bluefins returning.

Outstanding achievement to be able to capture two 300 lb+ in a single trip. There's some interesting history on Blue Fin Tuna fishing in the UK, during the 1930's to just after the war, with Scarborough becoming the hub with the foundation of The British Tunny Club in 1933. It was in that same year and off the coast of Scarborough that the British Record for Rod and Line was caught, weighing in at 851 lb.

friggin loved that vid. who would have thought blue fin in english coastal waters. Thoroughly enjoyed your fight and felt your pain. . Shame you couldn't have landed it for the table, the steaks of that would have been immense . Along with your boating skills, angling ability, your filming techniques, easy listening, and editing skills, you are a friggin legend man. Legend

Kit Andrews: Bluefin Tuna are all over circulating round the north Atlantic, in the Mediterranean sea and off Europe so they are bound to off the coast of England and the rest of the U.K. they are not just caught in the coastal waters off the north eastern states and maritime provinces of Canada, which I once thought myself some time ago. But like you, I was kind of surprised, I mean I've known for quite some time them to be seen or caught off the English coast but up until just recently, I didn't know they were in the large abundant numbers off the coast of Britain. But also like you, I sure wouldn't mind having Bluefin Tuna steak on my dinner plate.

Thank you very much Marc. It is simply what I feel is right. Just because we can take things for the table doesn't always mean we should. To all of the people crying because I didn't kill these magnificent fish. Is it not enough to know that I had won. In a battle of wits and strength matched against such wonderful creatures that I prevailed. That you feel you have to kill it as well? Thats not me I'm afraid.
