"seems to be a regular occurrence in this house!" -New age server alarm. That supervisory on the garage panel and house panel really does come in handy.
Good day, first things first, Nice video….. Second, I’d like to thank you for these videos you make. You provide knowledge to people like me who have an idea what the wanna do but don’t have a back up…. Plus after your videos I gained a passion and interest in fire alarms… so thank you for that. Before I had no idea what a 270 SPO was, a MB10-24 A 439D, a temp 3 bells. Your videos educate so many about these systems, it’s quite interestin, I’ve had trauma with alarms and this has helped me get through it. 2022 a large fire occurred in my apartment building, the second scariest things were the fire bells. Years before when I was around 4-5, a guy pulled the fire alarm at 3am. Unfortunately for me, my grandparents were the management of the building and their smoke alarm sounded, plus they had to deal with everyone and me. There’s more they gave me trauma to, point is… your videos have given me a new passion, knowledge, and working through trauma and fear with the alarms. Anyway. Nice video…. Why is it that it keeps sounding every lil bit? All cuz of cooking correct?. Why does it keep sounding and getting set off from that?
I’m pretty sure it’s because the pre-alarm level on that smoke detector is set too high, so it often just skips the pre-alarm and goes straight into full alarm, like it did here. I’m no expert, though, so I could be completely wrong about this, but that’s my guess. Nic, if you see this, am I right here?
Good thing garage fire alarm was hooked up to house fire alarm when u were jn garage chilling garage panel set off supervisory but its good to have life safety system... like your video...
Very true, we call them "unwanted alarms", its done the job of detecting smoke and the cause is known so not a "false alarm" in the "unknown activation" sense. 👍

We use notifier here. It in my opinion a lot comes down to the company servicing it no system is perfect and each one is going to cause problems at some point likely so get a brand that is serviced by a good company.
You should definitely do pre-alarm for that cooking area, it seems like your dogs dont like it :) EDIT: i'm british so by pre-alarm i mean an investigation delay, when an alarm gets setoff you get say 60 seconds to acknowledge and find out whats happening and clear it in which you can then reset, but if you dont reset after an additional 60 seconds the fire alarm system will go into full evac, but heres the good bit, if you dont ack within those first 60 seconds it will go into full evac to save you from getting trapped by spreading fire... might not be good for a home setting but just a suggestion
That would be pre-signal which is meant if there's trained staff to respond to it and quick access to acknowledge but in general slows down alarm response however pre-alarm does not slow down the alarm activation but will still give you a warning that the smoke levels are getting higher which is why I use pre alarm.
Idea: maybe you can try multi-criteria detectors that use combination smoke, heat, and co detection to make an alarm decision. Notifier makes the PTIR-951 multi-criteria detectors specifically for onyx series units.
If they are used in a matter that multiple sensors have to be activated then that would extremely delay an alarm response. Otherwise for demonstration purposes they are extremely expensive.
@@nics-systems-electric On the flip side though, this system does protect your house and multi criteria detectors actually will trip in a timely manner and can still be tested like a normal detector. It’s just a detector with different types of sensors working in tandem to give the panel more data to work with. The big thing with the multi criteria really is resistance to nuisance alarms and the ability to be able to detect a wider array of fire types accurately. They really work. I believe simplex may have been the first brand to use multi-criteria detectors.
@@achannelwithnopurpose1977 the problem is if you have a fire that is not producing enough heat if it's not in close enough proximity to the detector by the time it would set off it would be too late and the house is gone. In my opinion they often times defeat the purpose of having a smoke detector if it's not going to go off until the heat sensor is heated anyways.
@@nics-systems-electric but they don’t exactly require the heat sensor to be activated. They can still activate if one or two of the other sensors reach a certain threshold. It’s actually proven to be this way by the fact you can still use the same smoke check to activate it. All its really doing is using multiple sensor types to acquire more data to try and differentiate between nuisance alarms and real emergencies.
@@achannelwithnopurpose1977 that doesn't make any sense to me I don't see how that would not slow down an alarm response if it requires information from the heat sensor

@@nics-systems-electric Verification is ineffective in false alarm scenarios regardless. But it gives extra time to fan a detector or clear a smoke condition before it sets off. This is why a lot of home security and FA systems have the detectors set to verification.

Hearing the SpectrAlert Advance and the system sensor low frequency sounder going off at the same time sounds so cool for some reason
The low frequency sounders are L-Series, which is NOT in the spectralert line of devices.

Hi, I'm sorry that the fire alarm went off again, look, I always watch your videos and they made me learn a lot of things about the fire alarm.
Is the vent fan ducted outside? If its just a recirculator its just metal mesh filters mostly for grease
Yes
Time to get pre-alarm notifications :P
And how would he do that? Like maybe add another rising link communicator and programming them with custom messages instead of "power off" messages?
The top vent fan for the stove should have been place on high blast
Can you modify sensitivity settings for smoke detectors on FireLite Systems or just Notifier?
Yes I haven't but I believe you can
