    Chris. Really enjoyed your visit to Brooklyn and Manhattan. Thanks for taking the time to do this. So fun to see the city and all the changes from the perspective of a past long time resident and a bicyclist. Also, good to see your team members especially Leandro and Nahim who have helped me out both pre and post purchase. Best wishes for a safe Holiday Season.

    Great video Chris. No one is doing anything close to this on the ebike TH-cam space. Being a former New Yorker now transplanted to Florida, I really enjoyed taking this outing with you. Really miss the NYC energy and B&H Photo vibe. Since I am unable to return to NYC for this Holiday, I want to thank you for releasing this at just the right time. When I get back to NYC I will be visiting my old haunts and hopefully a new one: Propel bike in Brooklyn. As a retired business owner I enjoyed the short segment on your team building event. So important. Terrific stuff!

    This was such a great video. I happened upon your page because I’m a New Yorker considering getting an ebike. Currently, I’m in GA to be closer to my Grandma for a few months bc she’s been having a difficult time during covid, and I am missing the city so very much. Seeing you ride around some familiar neighborhoods, the green of the city (west side highway, woo!), the kind people (who are in abundance in NY), and B&H (which I’ve frequented A LOT as a photographer) really did warm my heart. This is such a great document for such a time in the city. Seeing warmth ♥️

    Really enjoyed the video, and the narrative of you being back in NYC. It'd be great if you could do a similar ride near your Long Beach store, comparing the cycle infrastructure, the feel of the place and energy of the people and so on. It gives a very watchable, relaxed, ride-along feel and the amount of your commentary and asides is just right :)

    Chris, good discussion on "taking the lane" and the "3-ft safe pass" practice. I'd add that cyclists need to leave clearance when passing other cyclists too.
    Also, good to point out getting "doored". I got doored pretty good over 20 years ago, and will never ride up close to a line of parked cars. I've had dozens of near misses with doors over the years and find I want to have enough clearance to avoid getting doored ever again.
    This practice, leaving clearance riding next to parked cars, is lost on many drivers of vehicles that can't understand why you can't just scoot over (out of their way). So videos like your help educate and make people aware of the issues cyclists face.

    Loved your analogy of how a singular ingredient does not make a good pizza. It's all the quality ingredients together that determine how good a pizza is, and the same can be said for e-bikes. It's not just about "checking all the boxes" and have thousands of watts in battery if the ingredients are of sub par quality.

    Isn't what you rode actually the Hudson River Greenway right next to the West Side Highway? I live in the Bronx and the Greenway spanning the length of Manhattan makes the ride to Propel in Brooklyn much more enjoyable;)

    • @SwiftySanders
      @SwiftySanders 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed but the cycle track doesnt go all the way up and there is construction in some parts with out proper detour signage. That makes it somewhat more challenging for me. Either way I took Columbus from 110 down to 55th or 59th and enter the cycle track from there.

      @@SwiftySanders It's been a while so I haven't seen the construction and the route isn't as well marked or maintained uptown but , in the past, I could ride all the way uptown to the Henry Hudson Bridge.

    Great video! Loved the general commentary and the happenstances. Peter was a dude! They're trying to change the highway code in the UK that gives cyclists priority going straight at a T-junction where cars might be turning left across their path, like in NYC. On the commentary about the pigs, BBC did a great 3 part documentary series called filthy cities, covering London, Paris and NYC. They sounded horrendous places to live, interesting though. That oculus place looks like a Calatrava design (not looked up on google yet)

      Interesting about the new UK code. Lots of changes going on there. I really can’t wait to make my way there.
      I remember the stories about the pigs and the trash in the streets. Pretty wild to think of how it must have been. I hope I can do more of these tours in cities. It would be really cool!
      The Oculus was designed by Calatrava. It’s quite a site to see!

    this video accomlishes something that is so important: it shows what all the taxes we pay in this city pay for. it's shared spaces, shared infrastructure. it's subsidized ferry rides, full bike lanes, public buildings, and so on. when we are willing to part with our hard earned dollars for top quality shared spaces, we all win. and yes, the food. but not gluten free bagels. that's an abomination.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Once upon a time I read a comment about NYC folks: there isn't a whole lot of physical space, so people give each other psychological space. The not smiling/saying hello/etc. isn't unfriendly; it's respectful.

    • @Propelbikes
      @Propelbikes  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3
