  • This is the third segment of our series on "Good Hands & Body Language".
Lynn McKenzie is teaching on "stepping out", a technique developed by Lynn and taught to students at Lynn McKenzie clinics. This technique, along with the technique of "roll your wrist", is instrumental in positioning your horse correctly for the turn. These techniques are some of the basic techniques that barrel racers need to help themselves with being winning barrel racers.
Lynn is riding "Hope", a mare owned and trained by Jennifer Burgess. Jennifer is quite the barrel horse trainer herself.

Great job Lynn! You did an excellent job explaining your approach (which will incorporate consistency) setting yourself and your horse for your turns around the barrels. I appreciate your explanation about setting your hips and legs correctly around your turns. I also enjoyed your explanation about not placing your hands and arms in the blah blah blah position.

Thank you Lynn! My mom grew up with a black and white book she showed me when i was a little girl! She was really great a barrel racing just from your book! Thank you for your teachings! I'm planning on getting back into barrel racing for fun and getting back into riding again! Looking forward to more of your videos !
