Part 4 Were Does the Turn Come From On Horseback movie
In this teaching, Jennifer does an excellent job of demonstrating where the turn comes from in the horse. You will want to watch this one all the way to the end as she shows some important information you won’t want to miss. If you ask 10 different barrel racers where they think it comes from, you will likely get 10 different answers. In our 40 + years of teaching, it has been surprising how many people don’t really understand the true ins and outs of the sport. Hopefully, by the time we finish this series, much of this will be cleared up.
We have many more teachings to come, so you will want to stay hooked up with us on this.

Motivational Monday Jennifer Shares Her Heart
มุมมอง 2694 ปีที่แล้ว
Motivation. You can do everything you can think of to get your horse ready to compete, but if you don't prepare yourself mentally, you may be just spinning your wheels. Jennifer does a really good job of explaining this in this video "From The Heart". Lynn for years in her clinics has taught the precept that "practice is 90% physical, competition is 90% mental". Confidence in yourself comes whe...

I am confused… my vet said you should ride a horse very little when they are less than 5 because their spine is still very soft, and it will cause a more severe sway back in their 20s and maybe vertebrae issues.

Break over regardless of the rocker is way to long, you really need to know what to look for, measuring this that and another does nothing if you are addressing that break over correctly, that horse will eventually start breaking down

Great job Lynn! You did an excellent job explaining your approach (which will incorporate consistency) setting yourself and your horse for your turns around the barrels. I appreciate your explanation about setting your hips and legs correctly around your turns. I also enjoyed your explanation about not placing your hands and arms in the blah blah blah position.

Great explanation. Loved Tanner timing program. I still have some from runs in Oklahoma. It is a fantastic tool to aid in making every stride count and where weaknesses in the runs were. Barrel racing is very technical when you consider times are divided by not only hundredths but thousandnths. Thanks again!’

Debbie, easiest way is to take a measuring tape and mark a center point, then measure 40' and set a barrel. Measure 40' from center point to directly opposite from previous barrel for second barrel. Should be a straight line, barrel - center - barrel. Then measure 40' from center and 40' from first barrel set and set a barrel. Repeat for remaining 3 barrels. When finished the barrels should form a circle and be 40' apart and 40' from center (radius of circle).
