    I agree with you about God taking care of you. !
    When we follow him and want him to be in our lives, he has promised to supply our needs and to never leave or forsake us. Our family can vouch that is absolutely true. Thanks for the tour! I love watching your videos!

    Absolutely LOVE your videos! Love the way you use everything available and love that everything has a job to do. You are exactly right in that if you help yourself God is going to take care of you throughout every situation! All you have to do is work hard and trust that knowledge! And yes I believe that when the fruit is bearing fuller it's at least going to be a harder colder winter. That's what I was always taught and we always put away everything we could for the coming winter. And I believe you are right about food shortages. Smart people are planning now! One last thought.........your chickens are beautiful! So colorful! They would make a very nice picture! God Bless. Take care!

    Yall are awsome people, its nice to know there's still people out there that live the old ways, I was raised this same way and still live all of it I can, my grandpa's both raised and put up hogs but both passed before I was born in 62 and thats something I wished I could have learnt, God bless and keep up the good work.

    It’s more like the planet is preparing us, the planet has a consciousness like we do. And yes there is a famine coming so it very well could be. It’s going to get rough, I’m pretty prepared but I don’t live on a Homestead so I hope I’m prepared enough.

    Beautiful farm and I didn't realize you live so close to me. I grew up on my grandparents farm here in Yadkin County. We had 50+ acres of tobacco plus cows, chickens, guineas and 4-5 gardens. Thanks for sharing.

    Looks like your plants are a little ahead of ours, we are near boones mill va but I guess it is far enough to make a difference. I grow a little tobacco, mine is the old Virginia style, not the yellow like they grow here. Some leaves are over 40 inches long. It is my family heritage from back in the 1700s, they are fun to watch grow and the hummingbirds love the trumpet flowers. I am also growing hops, besides beer they are used in tea, mine need weeding right now, too many critical things to work on first. Thanks for the tour.

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays
      @TrueGritAppalachianWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it’s amazing the difference a few miles can make as far as climate goes, I’ve been to boones mill a few times in my life, not to far the way the crow flies!

      I haven’t thought about that, great idea! Maybe I can do a video soon featuring the 2 biggest babies on the farm 😂😂 I’ve always been a horse fanatic and just can’t let them go, my husband doesn’t care for them but it’s just something about horses that makes my heart happy ❤️

    What part of nc are you in? I am in Ashe county. Working on my garden this week. Planted tators a couple weeks ago. My favorite vegetable to grow. Had a ton of sunflower seeds from flowers last year. We were away for a few months and while gone a bird came down the stove pipe and ate all seeds I had dried! He died in the house after pooping everywhere …but what are the odds. I think wind blew the cover off the pipe….sad.

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays

      You can plant in spring or fall, it will turn into a good size tree/bush and once it matures give you some delicious figs at the end of every summer!

    I noticed you were kind of struggling with the chicken small coop. I was going to suggest that putting wheels on one end. I’ve seen other homesteaders use wheels. Just something to think about.

    • @TrueGritAppalachianWays
      @TrueGritAppalachianWays  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      With the PVC build I can pull it easier with a big long pull, but learned the hard way I run over chickens doing it that way 🤪 so I do very short pulls and squat so I can see them to make sure everyone is coming along. The Joel Salatin style tractor we do have to use wheels because it is quite a bit heavier. Thanks for watching and appreciate your input!
