Thought I dreamed of playing this game cuz I never knew what it was called. Wild, the last time I heard the ingame sounds of this was probably almost 20 years ago. Crazy stuff man..
I had just one memory: a distorted bit of the song from 4:46, the first few bars of it but in a much different tone while maintaining the notes, and a snippet of this weird almost flying saucer looking thing through a wind shield. I knew it was a CTF game. Last I played it I was 3.
FishOil Jacuzzi whoa, you remembered them too! I watched through the multi-series Happy Days just because I wanted to see that. Turns out those were clips edited together from everywhere
@@ratheonhudson3311 That's not so good Al :) For everyone who doesn't know what we're talking about, it's this one: th-cam.com/video/kemivUKb4f4/w-d-xo.html This game here and this video were both shipped on the Windows 95 CD. Apart from the Weezer music video where also was the music video of "Good Times" by Edie Brickell: th-cam.com/video/iqL1BLzn3qc/w-d-xo.html Edie Brickell is the wife of Paul Simon (Simon and Garfunkel).
One of the power-ups enabled you to place a wall directly behind you. I used to get the drones to chase me and then let them slam right into a wall. Good times.
The secret to finding the flags quickly was to zoom the map out (can’t remember the keyboard shortcut). This made it very easy to find the flags and you could solve the levels much faster!
This must have been my first computer game ever! I played this like crazy when I was 4-5 years old, and the sounds and music are forever engraved in my memories. I loved jumping between those alleys in the castle, but I really hated those blue "turtles" LOL, I actually got so angry one time that in the high score board I put (the Spanish equivalent of) "the blue cars are fuckeeeers!" as my name ("Los autos azules son weoneeeeees", en buen chileno xD). My parents laughed at that a lot. Thanks for the memories!
Oh brilliant! I haven't heard this game's sound effects in ages! I used to master dropping walls right on enemies to get them stuck in the walls if they were right behind me
Holy Crap, I have been going nuts trying to find the name of this game for a couple years because I was being nostalgic and I remembered sinking hours in this game in the mid 90s on my dads HP desktop. Finally, I have found it.
I use to play this game all the time on the computer at the home it was so much fun i would sit there for hours and play i want to download it again and play it the music brings back so many good memories for me. 😊
The one windows game I would spend hours playing not knowing what in the world I'm doing in it, then I found out this is a capture the flag game you had to capture all the blue flags before the other guys could get your red ones,(there were more of them than there were of you, how was that fair?) you can setup walls around yours, each time one of your flags were taken you'd know it from a strange sound. You could knock your opponents into flag dropping tiles to free your flags, just don't run over them yourself, the game ends if all of your flags are captured.
We are all here for the same reason- we have a long lost, distant memory of playing this game as a kid and dug around until we found this video. Ohh the memories of being once young
I just suddenly remembered this game randomly and searched for gameplay and ended up here. Nostalgia. I used to spend hours on this game as a kid 😂Also, I had no idea this game had music, when I played this it never had music, I thought it was just the sound effects and that's all.
This was my first PC game ever. My favourite area was the City but I was kinda scared of the Castle area... I was 5 years old at this time. But I would LOVE still playing this. Oh btw: Does anyone know the difference between the higher and the lower levels? Is the only difference that you need more flags or are there more drones as well?
I always zoomed the map right out and set it to static so I could easily see where the flags were, heh. Bloody sewer levels with the flags on the high platforms! I seem to recall if you started a game with the difficulty turned way up, it was almost all Sewer levels for some reason.
I swear I played a game very similar to this on my parents 98 machine, it was first person like this except you were essentially playing hockey in an arena, you had to grab the puck that zoomed around the arena and shoot it at your opponents goal while they did the same
Just found this back thanks to a tiktok girl damn thes okd memories i was playin this at my dads office back then none of us had a computer home. So funny to read people gathering in comments with the same feelings ❤
This must've been one of my first video game experiences. Well, except for Tetris and Kirby's Dream Land on the GameBoy. And I think one of the neighbor kids had a Nintendo but I mostly just watched while others played on that.
Please help find a similar old game. There are two vehicles hovering, they need to capture the moving ball and score into the opponent's goal. What is the name of this game?
My dad or bother muted the game and being a young kid, I didn't know how to navigate menus. I only had the SFX and assumed that's just how the game was. It gave an odd lonely feeling, with the only other beings being the enemy blue vehicles, which scared my younger self. Only an ambient radar and the occasional sfx from hitting walls, using powerups, etc. Getting a flag had that sharp sound that slightly intimidated me and the blue vehicles getting a flag sounded distraught, scaring me a bit as a kid. Beating a level rewarded me with the jingle since it's a sfx I guess, giving me a feeling of relaxation and assurance. It was an odd feeling, one I can't really describe, but it's ingrained in my brain now.
I may have had the same issue. Anytime I launch it these days, it launches without music. If I remember correctly, I have to pause and unpause, then the music works. Not sure if that was an issue in the Win95 days, and if it was, if I ever discovered the music back then.
After all these years......ive finally found it. I'm in tears
Bob Marsgall I know! It's great to see this again
Same here- finally found it!
Bob Marsgall Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa it’s. hover
Pliss no accepted the marck of the beast,,,,,, pliss no accepted the chip 666 iluminati .
Microsoft made an web version of this game, and the hover.ie website was online 2013-2017. Here's to hoping it will be re-released!
Literally hadn't a clue what to do but I played this all the time.
i know, i don't think i ever made farther than level 1 lol but i used to play this for days on end, also that ridiculous g-nome game
It’s basically capture the flag only so much better

Just played this to break up seshes of Chips Challenge

Right, i remember walls coming up from out of nowhere lol
The sound when you bump into a wall is so familiar and comforting 🥹

I was just wondering about Ecco/ And flight simulator 98. Thank goodness there's at least 204 comments
It was for mine, a lot of strange memories and parts of my life are attached to this weird game, strange how that works.
@@Dirty_Dumb_NAFO_Scum me too

I love the soundtrack for this so much. Ah, nostalgia.

Wasn't there also a way to get one of the flags knocked out? Been so long since I played it I can't remember lol
Thank you for including the music!!
The music and sound effects alone in this game is awesome.
30 years old. I used to play this game on my grandma's lap. One of my childhood games!
The music was so dope in this game. Best of memories.

I played this quite a bit. The nostalgia is just fantastic in this one.
What i mostly remember about this game is the music and the sound effects! Lovely!
Same. :)
OMG

I love this game! Played it for hours! Brings back memories.
So it wasn't just a fevered dream. This game did exist!

The secret to finding the flags quickly was to zoom the map out (can’t remember the keyboard shortcut). This made it very easy to find the flags and you could solve the levels much faster!

Sat on my dad's lap with my little brother and told him where to go, especially when I saw a flag. Never made it past level 3, but it was always fun
That crunchy bass!!
I remember playing this game on our old Sony Xaio PC for hours. Love it!!!!!!! So much nostalgia
Grampa used to put this front of me. He then lamented the apparent death of PC gaming. Was one of the first games I ever played.

Thanks, John Carmack, for creating the engine that eventually would give us HOVER for Windows 95

It runs on Windows 11 too!
