I'm using 125mm triskates (Powerslide Megacruisers Pro) and I'm delighted how fast they are and how smooth can the ride be. In my neighbourhood there're hardly any public spaces where the pavement is approprite for skating. So the big wheels give me much more relaxed and comfortable feeling while skating on rough surfaces. I think the manuverability of 3 x 125mm can be compared to 4 x 84 mm (which I used previously). I'm very happy that I've decided to buy triskates without exactly having an opportunity to try them before buying (what I recommend everyone).
In reply to Te Za (but for some reason this reply keeps going to the wrong place?): I have the same problem with surfaces. Being a new skater the larger diameters leave me much less to worry about with cracks, sticks, and other debris littering everywhere I try to skate. I'm using Powerslide Megacruisers also but am working up to 125mm in stages- now at 110mm. It's nice to have the clearance for a range of wheel sizes.
To each his own, I tried 3x125 and didn't like them at all. They actually handle rough asphalt much worse than a similar 4x100 setup. Also braking (t-stop) is much harder on the 3x125 setup because you have less contact with the ground. Plus to me 3x125 look like clown skates. If you want a large diameter setup and also great maneuverability, I would recommend rockered 4x100 setup, like K2 Sodo or Wizard NR100/NR110 skates.
Te Za ..long time skater here, former 4 wheeler too, it’s all about the 3 wheel now, just added another pair of 3 wheel inlines to my collection, Rollerblade RB 3WD 110mm. Since I have been skating for 30 going on 31 years and ice skate and rollerskate too, it won’t be hard for me to break these skates in at all.
I️ am an in-line speed skater in the US. We mainly use 3x100 setups for kids who are just learning and then they move to 3x110. If your older like me I️ started on 4x100 and moved up to a high low frame which is a 110mm wheel at the toe and the back two wheels and a 100mm wheel in the second spot. The purpose of that setup is to make you feel lower to the ground but still give you the speed of the 110. There are other setups too like 4x110 which is a more advance setup. The 3x125 is really mainly for outdoors for speed skating when we do marathons but I️ just stick to my high low set up but change the wheels out to outdoor wheels instead of indoor wheels.
Colleen Richards ....I use to do the 4x80mm but it didn’t feel comfortable at all. I have been skating for 30 years now, started out at 5. I inline, rollerskate, and ice skate. During my inline skating I would always stick to the 4x80mm, next thing I know as I was in line skating one day, my foot was saying, “I am not liking this”.lol. So I ended up donating those skates and doing some research and testing out the 3 wheel inlines, I started out with with the Powerslide Reign Trinity 3x100mm, and since then I have not had the thought of ever going back to a 4 wheel at all.I am now upgrading to a second pair of 3 wheel inlines which are the Rollerblade RB 3WD 3x110mm with the SG7 bearings. I will be upgrading the bearings and getting more wheels.
I use 3x110mm FE Supersonics. I like the large wheels only on my F7 boots as they provide great ankle support & I mainly use them for cruising & city exploring. For short distances I prefer smaller wheels as they are more multipurpose.
I started 7 years ago with 4*80 wheels rockered placed . Now I bought 3 * 110 wheels, they go very fast, you can make turns with them and you don't notice all the small bumps on the bike path. Now I alternately use the 4*80 rockered to make figures like figure skating on ice. And alternately the 3*110 for speed and as a good taining. So they both have their pros and cons It is all about what you want to do with the type of scate
I've also found the 110's on my Seba FR1's to be heavy and rather tall. Dropping to 100mm wheels had very good results. A dedicated Seba frame for 3x100 could drop the over-the-wheel clearance significantly, lowering the boot, and making the skate much more stable and easy to turn.
I'm in agreement with you going from 4 wheels to 3 110's. I was also disappointed myself. I felt I couldn't gain the speed I'd hoped for nor had the maneuverability in the trio's. Thx 4 video
Do you live in the states? If so, what part of the country? Looks like there's a lot of skaters where you live. I live in Texas and feel like an outcast when i put my skates on.
I'm a spectacle where I'm from, I'm skating down the street, and people will be taking pictures of me, videos, cat calling me out the windows while driving by staring at me at red lights s*** is crazy LOL
I’m a speed skater but I like the 4 wheels for indoor skating where grip through the turns count while outdoors it’s a toss up I haven’t really tested which is better but one has a smoother ride than the other
My first ever skates where the three wheeled skates and I kind of miss them but I have I grew out of them, now I have skates with the four wheels and I enjoy them too :)
I’m an ice skater, who has some rollers. I have 3 x 100 mm Powerslides, they are very comfortable, fast, and they soak up road bumps, but I hate them. I don’t feel stable on roads and surfaces that aren’t flat. I have True TF9 skates with 2 x 76 + 2 x 80 mm wheels, I love them. They are horrible on local roads, as they are so bumpy, but on a tennis court they’re great.
You might be too heavy for a tri-skate with a soft boot? You could mount the 110 frame on your twisters, im sure there'd be a difference. I'm using matter wheels (125mm)on a megacruiser frame on a metropolis boot I enjoy the extra speed over my k2 uptowns (4x 80mm) for commuting and the uphills, but the uptowns are better for skating round the city personally. Thanks, enjoyed the video!!
For road speed skating 3 wheels would be better because turns can be very tight, but with track speed skating you would not necessarily need as much maneuverability so 4 wheel would be better for consistent turns on an oval track. And the faster you go on actual speed skates the more prone to speed wobble you become because of how little ankle support you have so it helps to have a longer wheelbase to keep stable at high speeds (30+ mph.).
Personally I like 4 wheel frames because of high speed stability, and the fact that all the triskates on amazon are more expensive than the 4 wheel skates that I am looking into buying.
Hey! Beginner here. i had trouble with stopping generally especially in downhill surface. the only way i know is t-stop. Is t-stop better with tri skates?
I have been skating since 5 and I am 35 now..30 years of skating...I rollerskate, in-line,and ice skate. When I do inline skating I do T stops or powerslides. You being a beginner I would recommend you use an inline skate that have brakes while teaching yourself to do powerslides and or T stops.
When I started out skating, I use to get the inline skates with the 80mm wheels, for me and this is my own personal opinion, I do not like them at all. When I transitioned over to 3 wheel inlines starting at 100 mm , I felt more speed and comfortable, as of today I have upgraded to 3 wheel 110 mm wheels. Everyone has their own opinion of 4 wheel and 3 wheel.
I like what they said that the smaller foot is better with the 3 wheels and if you have a longer foot the 4 wheel is better it just depends on the size of the frame and since you have a bigger foot the 4 wheel is better for you.
Maybe it's my imagination but, as a new skater, it seems that triskates make it easier to feel the weight transfer necessary to do actions like forward=>backward transitions - weighting the toe or heel of the skates. With longer quads the feeling is more muted by weight being on multiple wheels. Does anyone else feel this is the case? Also, with triskates the bearings are supporting more per bearing and inferior or worn bearings are much more immediately noticeable. Once again, thanks for an enjoyable video discussion, JP Jay!
The answer is none is better. Just like everything else its what feels best for every person. I have 3 wheels and to me they suck. But my friend loves 3 wheels.
I have begun rockering my four wheel setup and love how much more or feels like ice skating. Does anyone know if the tri wheel would further this feeling even more, or am I best off sticking to my setup is I'm trying to mimic ice skating feel?
You can’t fit 4x125. On the largest of speed frames... I love the 3x125 but I found in training I used 110 and be befitted from the weight loss (speed gain) I am now back to 4x110, there are stability issues with tri skates inside, sometimes 4 is better than three... but I also have the luxury of swapping frames to have my tri skates back again.
There are Inline Skates from Bauer, they are basicly just ice skates from bauer with a steel Frame and Wheels mounted to them, I really like them because they are really stiff like good ice skates. I would like to know what you think about them, if you have used inline skates like that before or if you would like to try inline skates like these out. Inline Skates: Bauer Vapor X300R
definitely yes. Smoothness is a big advantage of big wheels (it doesnt count if you got 3, 4 or 5 wheels, just the size matters) But of course the longer the frame the more stable but on the other side the less agile for turns you will become.... You are also higher from the ground which also gives you less support and stability why you really need a well fitting boot on big wheels.... I was skating with 4 wheels for 18 years. I started with 80 mm had a long periode of time with 84mm and my second last skate had 4x90mm. For this skate I was missing the agility of 84mm but on the same time I wanted to become faster. This is why I went for a Triskate. Next Pro 3x 110mm. This is my Dream Setup. I was skating it for 2 Year and now got a Balanced Rocker Endless 4x90/3x110 frame. I like the 4x90 Rockered Setup but still the shortest possible 3x110 Frame (standard frame) is still may most prefered and best one.... Its cool to be faster than People on there Bikes and to keep the speed easier and to travel on rough surfaces with them which are so much easier handling this kind of surface than my four wheel setups....
@Mirion Mir your welcome. Hopefully it will perfectly fit your foot shape. This is the hardest thing about skating but heatmolting or just breaking in often helps. If there are any questions in the future I'd love to support you and would gladly hear some Feedback from you:)
@@BlackyRay_Patrick In this context, I can recommend testing the Endless 80/84/100 Frame with 3x90 mm wheels. Fast and extremely agile and very stable thanks to the 255mm frame length. I use Wicked Abec 9 bearings and 88A Powerslide spinners. If you can afford it, you should buy MatterG13 wheels or Undercover. If the surface changes frequently, I would also consider softer wheels, such as 86A or 85A. This increases comfort, but reduces speed.
Looks like your tri-skate is sitting on a higher frame? If so, what was the height difference? I have uneven legs and am thinking about doing something like that to try and even things out.
I'm thinking the exact same thing! I think I'm going to try use 3x90 on my left foot and 3x110 on my right foot to even out my leg height difference. Have you tried this yet?
I do alot of city skating and i am in definite need of some new skates! I currently have a 5 wheel skate with 78mm. I had a 4 wheel skate before that. I learned on those. My skates are 20 yrs old lol. The surfaces in my city are bad. I want a faster more of glide over any surface with strong stability. So i guess the 4 wheel would be better with a larger wheel. But i am just a novice skater. I am VERY curious about the triskates if they work for me better for urban skating. But they sit up SO high, they would be less stable. Maneuverability is a strong concern too. I would really appreciate some suggestions.
good question. i've never tried bauer vapors, so i'm afraid i cannot give any advice here. in my subscription list you'll find a dedicated freestyle ice skating channel. maybe they can answer?
Hi, I'm not a free style ice skater myself but for roller hockey and ice hockey certainly Bauers are the dogs bollocks, so to speak, as far as the make itself goes. I have roller bladed/quad skated since age 5, now 32 and have never used any other make and never been disappointed. They are pretty unbeatable for speed and agility...Dunno if that's any help for ice skates lol but I cannot fault the brand...undoubtedly there are other equally good makes out there but I've never needed to try a switch...Also whenever I go ice skating, ALL the pro skaters there are wearing Bauer Ice skates :) I'm desperately saving for a pair of Bauer vapour 300 roller blades, I'm currently on a second hand pair of their k2 triskates and even well used they are savage!
I am using the Bauer Vapor X300 inline skates and i even can do a little bit of freestyle with them on the roads. I own a pair of Graf ice skates and it really doesn't matter what skates you got, it's your skill level. I can freestyle on a normal level and the Graf skates were only 60€ so for ice skates quite cheap. From using my X300 Inline skates, I can only recommend them because they are really stiff and have a great fit, the Vapor fit at the ankle is pretty nice. I know T-Blades are good for freestyle from some people, they are a little bit better for spins and turns. But your ice skates don't matter. It's your skill level but for 90€ the X300 are a good pair of skates. I'll buy the X500 when the ice rink in my city is opened again and I'm looking forward to them. If you have a hockey store in your city or st your ice rink i would recommend you to just try them out, how they fit and how they feel on the ice. The look does not really matter. Greetings, ~Flatty
One year ago I started inlineskating on smooth and clean concrete Hockeyrinks with a 3x90mm Hockeyskate with a 215mm 3x100mm Frame. This setup is very agile and reactive for Hockey. Last week I tryed skating around town on sidewalks and cyclepaths crossing streets a lot with curbsides for the first time with my hockeyskates. The surface was uneven, rough, bumpy with debris, cobblestones and some edges and less place for maneuvers. This was a bad experience for me. Would different skates give me a more suitable setup for skating around in the town? If so, I have to decide between a Rollerblade Fusion84 (4x84mm, 255mm frame) or a 3x110mm hardboot setup ( for example Next110 with a 143mm frame). Which setup is better for bad surfaces? Or is there different suitable setup?
for bad surfaces the bigger the wheels the better you can handle these rough surfaces and it will feel much smoother..... Its definitely a big difference. You are also less likely to get stuck by cobblestone, gravel or branches.... Im cursious how you decided and what setup you are using now.
Hey I’m fairly good with skates but I’m not sure which kind to buy I’ve been looking at hockey skates because I like the look and what they involve but I’m not sure what type of skate to get. Any recommendations?
if you car completely new to it....4 wheel set up. the key is you want to be lower to ground. and pad up parts of body worth for you preserving. ..use quality pads btw not cheapo ones. ;)
I need a bit of advice. I'm a new skater. complete beginner really. only been doing it 2 months. I'm still a bit wobbly and off balance. my concern is.,... if I lean a little too forward my front wheel seems to jam. is this normal?... I've cleaned my wheels and oiled them well but it's still happening. I'm using abec7
Dawn Thompson That is not normal at all. Wheels are supposed to roll no matter where you distribute your weight. Its hard to imagine wheels "jamming" on skates. I would purchase better bearings, I dislike the whole Abec rating and just go with skateboard bearings. I bought Reds super reds bearings (x16 for $50) and they work worlds better than my standard Abec 7 bearings.
I am a very new skater......Just got “Zetrablade “ Rollerblades 80 mm wheels.I am 5 feet 115 Lbs .Are they good for first skates ? What protection gear should I get...... Sensitive bones (break easily).
#1 priority - Elbow pads and wrist guards or slider gloves - falling backward can be a surprise. #2 priority - Knee pads, in case of forward falls. #3 priority - Helmet. Unless you're teaching yourself backward acceleration or stair descent - then a helmet with a full face cage could become a literal face saver until balancing is second nature. My opinion only, from my own experience.
Yep. Have you ever tried trinity mounting? If not you should try, it is interesting to hear about the differences from someone who is not hired by powerslide:)
please at 2:10 don't pause your audio and then follow it up with the amplified collision of the camera .. my ears are still ringing ... just mute that out. anyways I personally prefer the 255mm frame with the 84mm hydrogen wheels with some ilq9 bearings. that set up is good for speed control and great at absorbing impact on jumps ... I think Lino. made a video on how tri-skates are not designed for impact absorption unless you use the kizer tri-skate frames.
Hi JP Jay, thanks for all your great videos. I'm currently using K2 90 VOA Pro skates as my first skates since past 6 months and my boots have already started wearing out. I weigh 77kg and may be my weight is one of the reason for this quick wearing out (k2 being soft boots)! Could you please suggest what options should I be looking at in near future? Ps. I still need to learn power slide stop which I'm not in total control while attempting in my current skates. Any suggestions please are welcome. Thanks!
hamu i am planning on buying the k2 90 VOA Pro, haven't skated since the 90s. are they any good? apart from wearing out so fast. don't know if i should buy that or 110 triskate powerslides.
Mephistopheles I'm not quite sure of 110 triskate but K2 90 pro are simply great both in terms of comfort stability as well as glide. Hopefully my skate will be soon replaced and I guess it's rare to happen again! Hope that answers your question.
Hey there! I was just wondering what you think are the main differences between rollerblading and ice skating, as well as which is harder, rollerblading or ice skating (figure and hockey skates considered different)
I think the basics are very similar, but rollerblading is a bit more difficult when it comes to stops and transitions. Ice skating also has an advantage when falling - you just glide it off
im looking in to getting new but cheap wheels for my inline 4 wheel blades can you help me find a 8 set with good bearings in the 30$ range maybe? just wondering
Might be a moot point seeing as it's 2 years later, but "sovereign speed" just hooked me up with 8 wheels and 16 Lkq 9 bearings for only $70.00 + shipping. Wheels were 80mm in size 78a in hardness.
Dude with the quiet voice suddenly hitting the camera shook me

Yeah. This scared me. I was using my phone. I threw it away from my face, and jumped back. I was scared 😱

Dude, is this Latvia? I was just looking for a comparison video when I realized the nature kind of looks similar to Latvia, Riga.
My kid age is 10 and speed skater, I'm confused rink and road which one is best 100*3 or 100*4 please suggest mee..
I like four wheel Rollerblades
Me to😂
Same
I do alot of city skating and i am in definite need of some new skates! I would really appreciate some suggestions.
can you please tell me are the bauer vapor x300 senior ice skates good for freestyle
good question. i've never tried bauer vapors, so i'm afraid i cannot give any advice here. in my subscription list you'll find a dedicated freestyle ice skating channel. maybe they can answer?
can you pin this comment to the top so more people can see it and I can get some advice
Gloria Moffit thanks : )
Sir what you say finally
3 wheels or 4 wheels what is better .Your suggestion
It's preference, although three wheels are the future, like he said
One year ago I started inlineskating on smooth and clean concrete Hockeyrinks with a 3x90mm Hockeyskate with a 215mm 3x100mm Frame.
What durometer did your tri wheel come with and what did you switch to?
Witch lnline shoes better? Transperment or rubber?
Triskates are better than the other
I have bigger bones, my weight is 99kg and I'd like to start skating, what is better ? 3 or 4 wheels ?
if you car completely new to it....4 wheel set up. the key is you want to be lower to ground. and pad up parts of body worth for you preserving. ..use quality pads btw not cheapo ones. ;)
0:45 Is it realy ,,Green stage"? So that means u are from Latvia.
Hey I was born in Riga Latvia, shout out to my Latvians out there!
and what about those with 2wheel rollerblades? bc i see those more often tho
I'm using abec7
on thhis ssite II ffinally got mine topgames666.tumblr.com/post/160470874215/get-free-true-skate-money-new-updated-true-skate?MlobhZEQU0 jennifer69ok
What is the mounting type of your frame on powerslide omicrons? Two screws in center or three distributed (i forgot how they call it in Powerslide)?
It has two screws in center. The three screw setup is called Trinity.
I think Lino. made a video on how tri-skates are not designed for impact absorption unless you use the kizer tri-skate frames.
oh no! thanks for making me aware of the loud sound. won't happen again.
Hope that answers your question.
hamu thanks for the response, i might go for the maxxum 90mm.
Nice setup
Question: How i absorb the speed acceleration after a big jump ?!
Do you fart in the air, or where does that acceleration comes from ? Jump upwards, not forward. You already have momentum.
@@petercsakvari5519 hahahaha xD
Hey there! I was just wondering what you think are the main differences between rollerblading and ice skating, as well as which is harder, rollerblading or ice skating (figure and hockey skates considered different)
I think the basics are very similar, but rollerblading is a bit more difficult when it comes to stops and transitions. Ice skating also has an advantage when falling - you just glide it off
@@HowToInlineSkate on the other side you are not slippering with rollerblades....
@@BlackyRay_Patrick then your blades are not sharp enough
@@pit9623 it's no topic of sharpness but of weigh distribution.
Great video. Thank you
im looking in to getting new but cheap wheels for my inline 4 wheel blades can you help me find a 8 set with good bearings in the 30$ range maybe?
just wondering
Might be a moot point seeing as it's 2 years later, but "sovereign speed" just hooked me up with 8 wheels and 16 Lkq 9 bearings for only $70.00 + shipping. Wheels were 80mm in size 78a in hardness.

Bralis, are you from Latvia!?
Labdien, I live in Riga yes but I am from Norway
Speed skaters just use 3 wheels because the frames aren't as long as a frame for 4 large wheels
how much do you weigh?
can you make a video talking about how to skate on rough terrain?? and thnx
sure will do

I have a four wheeler which I think is better
Brīvības ielas night ride. 😍😍😍
hey... what about versus quad skates??? I'm interested to know as I've grown up with normal 4 wheel Inline skates.. would be good to know!
